Just got back from our fourth visit to this site, and we will be back.

The facilities are fab, clean and warm with new toothbrushes and toothpaste as well as other toiletries in case you have forgotten anything, never seen this at any other site.

The pitches are a very good size, they have both hardstanding and grass which is kept very tidy at all times.

They have some nice walks around the fishing lakes with plenty of wildlife about.

The village garage about a mile from the site sells a very good range of things and have some good offers on wine! Its an adult only site so its nice and quiet great for a relaxing break.

We've just returned from a very enjoyable 3 night say (Thurs-Fri-Sat) at Burtree House.

We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful Lady who showed us to our pitch which was a hardstanding of a very reasonable size and well sheltered

There's plenty of taps about and the is bins are emptied daily. The shower/tiolet block was one of the cleanest and well kept we've seen. Only one shower and loo in both ladies and Gents, but we didn't have to wait at anytime.

There's very little to do within walking distance, so it's all driving. The fishing ponds fished well and we only saw half a dozen people fishing all weekend.

The pub in the village The Bay Horse served good well kept beers, but the food was quite exspensive for pub grab.

Will we go back YES

This was our fourth visit to this site, which goes a long way to telling you how much we like it.

It is generally very peaceful with just the sounds of the countryside and occasionally the RAF. At night there is very little light pollution so when it is clear it is a great place to star gaze.

We have always found the facilities to be spotlessly clean and although there is only one shower in the ladies and one in the gents, we have never had to queue and there is always plenty of hot water.

The wardens are very friendly and helpful and there are plenty of leaflets and information to be found in reception.

There are two fishing lakes on the site. We have only used the coarse fishing lake and have always enjoyed the experience.

The petrol station in the village has a small shop which stocks the daily essentials - it is not, however, open on Sundays.

The local pub seems popular with eaters but we can't comment on the quality never having eaten there - I enjoy cooking in the 'van.

The local public footpaths are not too well maintained so you may want to go further afield if you wish to do some walking. We use local transport to get out and about in the area. The bus stops are about a ten minute walk from the site. There is an hourly service to Bedale and North Allerton in one direction and Hawes in the other direction. There is plenty to do in the area and one of our favourite outings was on the Wensleydale Railway.

We can't fault this site, which probably explains why we keep returning.

Just returned today (27/09/10) after a very pleasant 3 night stay at this site. The present owners and wardens are doing a fantastic job in making this small, friendly site well worth visiting. It is set in a ideal location for touring the Dales with such places as Bedale, Leyburn and Middleham only short journeys away.

The modern and extremely clean toilet and shower block are probably the finest we have ever experienced on our many weekends away and congratulations must be given to the lady who tends to them. Although there is only one urinal, wc and shower in the gents and one shower and two wcs in the ladies, we never had to queue.Fresh flowers and hand lotions were a very nice touch.

The only thing I would like to see added would be lighting in the upper field - I am sure this wont take long to follow.

We had a lot of rain whilst we were here but drainage of the land was excellent and didn't create a problem.

All in all an excellent little site, highly recommended and one that we will definitely return to.

Great little site run by very friendly owners and warden, providing peace and quiet with spotlessly clean facilities.

Toilet/shower block whilst small is adequate and coped with all the touring as well as seasonal pitches being occupied whilst we were there.

The site, which is on the whole level, is well positioned at the bottom of the northern dales providing easy access for exploring their upper reaches or travelling east for the North Yorkshire moors and Cleveland coastal villages.

As with many villages Crakehall provides limited attractions but there is Cricket on the green, a pub which provides food and garage/shop for those small forgotten items, all within walking distance. Whilst Bedale, only 2 or 3 miles further away, provides the facilities expected of a small market town.

On the whole the perfect place to escape the rush and push of city life and relax without the need to do any thing. Hope to be booking for longer next year.

We have just come back from this site.A nice big pitch but a little uneven. The views from the site are just flat fields. In the mens toilet block there is on 1 toilet / shower but both are kept spotless only a few van's on the site so had no trouble using them.

With having no shop on site we had to drive into Bedale for any supplies that we needed. Not a lot to do the area if you just fancy a walk after tea the village is very quiet.

My only fault is that the grey water and chemical toilet points were at the main block which was a little far from our back field pitch.

A pleasant site and a good base to tour the nearby Dales and even eastwards to the Yorkshire Moors. Pitch sizes are good in what is only a small site and the grassy areas etc are well kept. Toilet facilities were immaculate, although with just one trap / urinal / shower (gents) and similar arrangements for the ladies, I do wonder how it copes when full.

Location wise, the village of Crakehall is interesting enough, but the surrounding land is a little flat / featureless and there isn't much walking from the site itself.

Overall a perfectly acceptable and pleasant site and best suited for a base to visit the area, rather than somewhere to venture out from on foot.

Site Facilities are immaculately maintained, there is a single toilet and shower block which were modern and exceptionally clean.

The whole site is mainly flat or slightly sloping so very easy to setup a big touring rig.

Pitch sizes were the largest I have come across in 2 years of touring, they have water and electric hook up. We were on a grass only pitch which I was at first concerned about if the weather turned for the worse and we had excessive rain. The land was actually very well drained you would literally need 40 nights of rain for it to becme a problem.

The site was very well designed with exceptional wardens who maintained the very high standards and still had time to be friendly and helpful. The dog walking areas were great even to the point of having a large gated and enclosed 'off the lead area'

Location wise it was fantastic, open country side well away from any main roads ensured we had a very relaxing chill out. So much impressed we immediately booked for another 1 week stay in July

What a gem of a site. Toilets lovely and clean,

The warden and owner of the site are very friendly. A really nice place to relax and do a spot of fishing in the well stocked lakes.

We have never been to a site where the pitches are so large. It is a lovely place for walking and looking at the wildlife. There is a shop in the near by village just a short walk away.

What a lovely site, if its peace and relaxation you are looking for this site is for you. Also it is adult only.

Generous sized pitches long with modern toilets and showers, with lovely little touches such as fresh flowers and hand cream.

This site is also great if you love fishing. It has 2 well stocked lakes. Also ideal for walking and visiting the Yorkshire dales.

It is a great site and with lovely owners and a helpful warden, they make this a must to visit over and over again.

Will be back soon.
