We stayed here overnight for one night on our way back from Lac Annecy. It was easy to find from the motorway (about 10-15mins). There are a few things which are excellent about the site: Toilets and Showers, Beachside location, Some fully serviced pitches, indoor pool, waterslide, free wifi, clean and well maintained condition, good children's play facilities, sports area etc.

I loathed the bar, characterless and expensive, with the barman blasting his preferred choice of technobeat music out until your ears bled, regardless of the age or musical taste of his customers. The restaurant / takeaway was located in the same area but the food was very nice, so compliments to the chef for the quality of the food, even if the menu was basic to say in the least.

I found the site characterless and mainly full of English people, and quite dull. The surrounding area is flat and uninteresting. I would hate to be stuck here for a week, even though the facilities are of a good standard.

The Mozzies are every bit as vicious as previous reviews suggest. It took all of 30 seconds for me to be bitten. Warning: Spray yourself and your car and your caravan before you pitch!

I must congratulate the site on the shower and wc block which was the highest standards I have seen in France. But this campsite wasn't my cup of tea.

The first impression of this site were not great! The reviews had prepared us for much comings and goings but did say that some pitches were grassy - ours was not! Pitching a tent on 'hardcore' was not nice! And we came away with only half a dozen pegs in tact as a result! The site specifies so many rules and hardly any were adhered to - silence from 10pm to 7am is simply a joke with the site entertainment continuing way beyond 11:30 and then youths playing foot/basketball til way after 1am not to mention the up all night drinkers and chatters!

The site however is situated in a beautiful area and the facilities both on site and nearby are just great and not too expensive to enjoy. There were only 3 showers in the block near to us but this was ok mostly. The shop was nice (with a great bakery order service) as was the bar. There were play areas for the children and the pools were lovely. We stayed for 8 nights and saw lots of changeover of neighbours which we were expecting but this didn't adversely affect us or our holiday. Most pitches were shaded by trees and this was super as we had fantastic weather over there. All in all a good holiday would take a second groundsheet, reinforced pegs and earplugs should we go again!

I would agree with a lot of other reviews.

We only booked this over the phone a couple of days before arriving. The reception staff spoke good English and were helpful.

Overall a lovely site, with just a couple of things that let our stay down. We stayed for five nights. Our pitch was a very good size with own water and ehu. Partially shaded which was great as the weather was hot. Lots of trees on site, but some pitches missed out on shade.

Mixture of mostly Brits and French with a few other nationalities. I would say the majority of people were families with young children. We found that some of the French men would be chatting loudly long after everyone else had retired to bed. Our French is not good enough to be able to ask them to be quiet!

Toilets are great with seats and toilet roll. Showers with constant hot water. All kept very clean. Our pitch was opposite the smaller toilet block - about twenty meters away. They are cleaned at 6am every morning by a group of rather chatty ladies(who do a great job), BUT I like a lie in on holiday! We were woken every day at 6 by the sound of a hosepipe, the hand dryer going on and off, and buckets being dropped etc. They took half an hour. As we had booked so late and the campsite was full we didn't bother asking to move. I would recommend that you request a pitch further away, although as no-one else has mentioned this maybe it only happens in high season. Or take ear plugs.

Went prepared with mosi spray with 55% deet, but I must have missed a bit because I got seven bites on the first night. Definitely take some form of repellent or cover up in the evening.

The shop is very small and only sells the basics. Didn't buy anything at the bar, but the free wifi extends outside for a short distance, so our son could go and use his ipod without the need to go into the bar.

The lake is just across the road. Great area for kids. We hired a pedaloe and took our own small blow up dingy. It was very busy at the weekend with local people. I think some people must stay overnight in the car park, as we were woken at 4am Sunday morning by loud music coming from outside the site.

Went into Troyes - it's a lovely place. All the shops were closed as it was a Sunday. Ate at one of the restaurants on the main square which is currently having a new pavement laid.

Shopped at two of the smaller supermarkets in the nearest villages. They close from 12. 30 - 2. 30. Neither sold ice for the coolbox.

It's a bit pricey 44 euros per night for three of us and a tent.

Overall this is a lovely site - ten out of ten as far as French toilets go. Laid out nicely. Friendly. I just wish they would have cleaned the loos at a more civilised time of day!

Easy to find and a easy drive to from Calais

About 6 hours with a hour lunch.

Very well kept site facilities were all good and pitches were a good size.

Reception staff were the most helpful I've ever seen.

Lake was lovely clear blue water and great to swim.

Was very impressed lots to do and see troyes was a very nice town. Cant wait to go back.

The only downfall is that the toilet waste point was a long walk away so used to drive to it.

We stayed in various campsites in France in July 2012 and most of them disappointed us bitterly, besides this wee gem.

The location is perfect. The directions are first class and it is easy found. The drive up to the campsite is a real treat with the lake on your left hand side.

The lake is stunning. The activities first class.

I have never seen such immaculate amenities at any other campsite anywhere. Should you have wanted to! you could easily have eaten your dinner off the toilet floor, new block is outstanding and immaculately cleaned frequently throughout the day.

Can't find fault at this campsite. We wish we'd have stayed here for the duration of our 3 week trip.

We stayed here for 15nights and were able to use camping cheques for the first eight nights. We booked online and emailed directly to the site. It was very efficient.

We arrived mid afternoon and were warmly greeted by the team at reception who speak great English but who will also let you practice your French too!

Our pitch was huge roughly 15m x 12m. We had direct water and waste so no filling barrels! The pitch was grassy and reasonably level.

Our two boys(age 8 and 11) enjoyed the waterslides, indoor and outdoor pools, along with the park. There was also a kids club which they enjoyed on two occasions.

We used the takeaway on two occasions. The food was hot and of the usual take away standard. The family portion of chips was large.

The toilet facilities were among the best we have seen in the UK and France. They were always very clean and I did not hesitate to use them - please note this is rare for me so it must reflect the high standards. We were closest to the small toilet block. The new block was fantastic with a special children's area. There was no shortage of hot water apart from one day and when we repoted it to reception it was fixed by lunchtime.

There was no shortage of water activities locally - pedaloes (17e for 4 people for an hour), electric boats (25e for an hour), canoes, windsufing, catamarans etc.

The boys also enjoyed swimming in the lake and playing on the beach.

We also went cycling. There is a traffic free path about 5km from the site and the roads to it are quiet. There is also a short circular route into the village of Mesnil.

We also visited the outlet shops at Troyes and got lots of bargains in their sales. There is a new Leclerc express about 10 minutes from the site at Lusigny which is very convenient.

Of course no trip to France is complete without some wine. We went champagne tasting at Les Richeys and then more tasting at the village of Chablis (1hr away).

We would return and also recommend this site for families. It is not commercialised with mobile home companies.

Finally some reviews mentioned mosquitoes. We went prepared with spray and candles. We were bitten but only a few times and it did not stop the enjoyment of the holiday.

Using camping cheque this site offers fantastic value. The location adjacent to lake offers lots to do for all age groups. The shower facilities could not be bettered. Spotlessly clean at all times. We had a superb pitch, large, hard standing and grass, with water and waste connection. A few pitches were muddy, but the staff directed you away from these. Troyes was a delight to visit, with lovely old buildings and churches. We wil be returning as it is only 250 miles from Calais, and a good stop over from/going south.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Excellent location within walking distance of the lake which has a sandy beach. Two shower blocks both very good and clean. Reception also warm and friendly. Tried my best French but had to resort to English fairly quickly which wasn't a problem. Grass pitches are large with water points adjacent. Some new pitches on hardstanding are being developed at the bottom of the site which appear to be a lot smaller. Not much room for awnings.

Pool area looked very tempting although we didn't use it as the weather was pretty wet. Some of the grass pitches were out of use as they were waterlogged. We would definitely go back though.

We used Campingcheques and arrived on the Monday of a French Bank holiday weekend when there was a problem with the new shower block and stayed for 6 nights. The problem was fixed by the Wednesday so all well as it is the best shower block we have come across in France. We had a very large pitch near the new block which was great when they opened it again.

As a previous reviewer mentioned there was a problem with mosquitoes on the site so be prepared.

We didn't eat in the restaurant as we have been to the site before and were not impressed (its far more like a cafe than a restaurant). We did use the takeaway but even that wasn't good. Even the frites were poor and probably the worst we have had in France. I believe the restaurant and takeaway are a franchise and not part of the site. I think Kawan need to consider the suitability of the people running it as it is clearly letting the site down.

We used the pizza restaurant across the road which is good and the Marinka restaurant just down the road (in walking distance) is excellent. Best Magret de Canard we have had.

Wifi was ok and supposedly free but as you had to go to the bar to use it you fely obliged to buy a drink so not really free.

We stayed here for 4 nights before proceeding down to Provence. The site was very busy with lots of families/children staying whilst we were there. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. There was a mediocre shop that did sell extremely good bread, provided you preordered it the day before. We weren't impressed with the restaurant, the food was poor and the service surly.

We were given a pitch at the top of the site under the trees, which was large and shaded, the down side being that it was alive with mosquito's and despite our very best efforts we came away with a multitude of bites. Be warned and go prepared! There are 2 shower blocks, the largest of which is incredibly modern and state of the art, ironically it wasn't working whilst we were there so everyone was using the facilities at the smaller block. We didn't have to wait too long for showers however which were clean, hot and powerful and worth the wait.

The main deterrent to this site as far as we were concerned was the surprising lack of facilities for disposing of grey waste water - the only drain seemed to be outside the site on the road! We saw some people emptying waste water into the trees and this may account to some extent for the mosquito problem! Toilet waste disposal was also a problem with only one drain at the main toilet block which for us involved a long walk of shame dragging our toilet canister.

We wouldn't stay again as this site is aimed too much at families with children but it is clean, modern and well managed.
