We stayed at this site for 5 nights in August 2011 and it is an excellent site. The site has been taken over in the last couple of years by Kawan and they have put a lot of work in.
The reception/shop/bar complex is all new and this attaches onto a new pool area with multiple pools and water slides. There is also an indoor pool attached to reception.
Security barriers are at the entrance and a 20Euro refundable deposit is required.
You can order bread/croissants etc in the shop for collection the next day, the shop has food/wine and a few other camping supplies you may need.
The bar area has a large outside terrace too, 4Euro for a large Stella. There are also seats overlooking the pool from the bar too. You can also get meals from the bar and they go cooked chickens to take away.
A couple of nights a week they have entertainment too, singer, Paella night and a minidisco for the kids.
There are animation staff present for a few activities too, my daughter did postcard making 1 morning and jewellery another day. Aqua-aerobics was also held in a morning.
The site is pretty big, there are a couple of new shower blocks, the larger one is exceptional. Large cubicles for the showers with sinks and changing area. The washing up is also in this complex all indoors and the chemical disposal just outside.
We had a nice 1/2 shade pitch near to the main block, the pitch had electric, waste and fresh water all on the pitch. I think all pitches do.
The site is across the road from a beautiful lake with a beach and also grass to sit on. There are watersports available, windsurfer, pedalos etc and a couple of bars/cafes/restaurants and minigolf.
We took our inflatable boat out on the lake and also hired a pedalo. There are also safer cordoned off sections for swimming.
The pools and slides are great, loungers are supplied, not that many of them but people were generally good and not reserving and going back off to bed etc.
Swimming trunks required for the pool.
The family loved this site and we would go to this site or another Kawan village site without a doubt

Stayed for 5 nights in early September. We were allocated a pitch which whilst under a large tree had plenty of space and we could pitch any way on the pitch. Shower blocks fine, plenty of hot water, though on 2 mornings they were being cleaned (around 7. 30 so be aware if leaving at 8 when the site gates open)so husband unable to access his side, staff helpfully sent him into the ladies! Many people used it for over night stops and had slightly more accessible pitches.
Great pool complex and the bar looked nice.
Surroundings fantastic, spent 2 days visiting Troyes and still did not see everything. Town walk map available from tourist office. Plenty of really good cycle trails not far from the site and a bird observatory just down the road. Saw the famous Black Storkes!Half timbered church trail well worth doing, even for those like us who would not normally go into a church. Will be going back.

We Stayed 4 nights in late August, check-in was easy, and staff spoke good english. Pitch was fine, a little shady, but good size. Water and electrical hook up were all fine. Kids (5 & 7) loved the indoor and outdoor pools, especially the water slides (I also spent plenty of time enjoying them). There's a small football/basketball court, bouncy castle and play area all visible from the Bar, which is great in the evenings.
On site restaurant is simple but fine, and there's plenty of choice locally (we ate out one evening, I can't recall the name but had large Heineken sign outside (which would not normally appeal) but food was good, kids ate well, and staff were very friendly. Breakfast supplies from on site shop must be ordered in advance, but the local Boulangerie is 5 mins down the road and nicer. Otherwise on site shop is fine, usefully selling frozen water, and other essentials.
Shower block is very new, and always clean, but struggled to get a hot shower, so try to shower outside of peak times.
Overall we really enjoyed the site, it's right next to the lake, which is a good day out, there's loads of Champagne houses reasonably close, and the Nigloland amusement park is only 30 mins away (although we didn't have time to visit it). We'd definitely recommend and return if we were in the area again

This site divided opinion between myself and my hubby. I rather liked it but OH wasn't too impressed. We stayed here for our two overnight stops on the way to and from the Ardeche. On our way down to the Ardeche we didn't get a great impression of the site as it had rained solidly for a week and the pitch we were allocated was like a bog - but it was 8pm, pouring down, going dark and we were leaving the next morning so we just got the caravan on, hooked up and went inside. One thing we noticed instantly was how friendly people were, within 10mins a young girl came over with two very welcome mugs of tea which was so kind. The next morning we had the guy opposite offer to help us get off the pitch but we were fine and a very friendly cyclist chatted to us on his way out. There seemed to be be more Brits here than any other nationality.
On our return, we arrived much earlier, the sun was blazing so we had more time to take in the site. The kids loved the play area - especially the bouncy castle. We went to the very pleasant bar and our daughter joined in with the mini disco - the girl running it was lovely to our daughter and invited her to go to the kids club the next morning but sadly we were leaving too early.
As I say I really liked it - our pitch was huge and conveniently located.
OH disliked the critters (he does react to bites) and there were a lot but didn't bother me we had our sprays! We both had showers in different shower blocks and they were both cold - I actually didn't mind because it was 30 degrees outside but OH was a bit suprised to find that a brand new state of the art showerblock (which was the one he used) wasn't producing any hot water - I can see his point.
I would be happy to stay here for a week but I can't see OH wanting to, but its definitely an excellent overnighter on the way south from Calais and we will at least be returning here for this purpose.

We stayed for 5 nights as a try-out/return to camping as the site isn't too much of a trek from Calais.
Reception was quick and efficient, both checking in and on departure.
It had rained heavily the preceding 8 days and a number of pitches were very wet. The one we were offered was also muddy and rutted. We soon got it sorted with the aid of a shovel and sand. As the pitch was so big, there was still plenty of relatively dry ground.
No problems with electric hook-up, as they are standard Euro/UK.
The facilities are particularly good for younger families, rather than couples as the evening entertainment was sparse. The kids seemed to particularly enjoy the evening sports tourney in the sports court.
Couldn't complain, as the site had everything required, from the shop, restaurant/bar to shower and washing-up sinks.
The area was picturesque and the lake terrific for sunbathing, swimming or canoeing etc
This site provides a perfect stay for 2-3 nights or a stop-over.

We stayed for 4 days on our 'Grand Tour' of France. We had read the reviews before we went so we had an idea of what to expect. The staff were polite and friendly on our arrival and we were offered a choice of pitches, together with apologies that several other pitches were out of action due to heavy rains in the preceding days.
Most of the offered pitches were under trees and near the road. We would not normally have chosen these but as the approaching weekend was a public holiday and the site was filling rapidly we took one of them as they were appreciably larger than many. Many of the pitches looked a little bumpy, ours was no exception, easily rectified with ramps.
We need not have worried about road noise. True there was some road noise during the day but all went quiet by evening.
The ablutions blocks were first class. We only bought bread at the shop, but the service was friendly and polite. The free wi-fi by the bar was useful, if a little slow at times. Didn't try the pool but it looked good.
The lake and the area are beautiful, as is Troyes.
We'd be unlikely to go again as we prefer not to use large commercial sites, but would would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone that wants the facilities of this type of site.

A one night stop on way south. Travelled from Le Havre off night ferry and avoided Paris so longish drive via Chartres and Fontainebleu but easy enough. Warm welcome at reception and given choice of pitch. Shop was small but had all the basics with bread available if ordered the night before. Toilet block was the new one and very good. Pool looked fine and husband swam but it shut at 7pm so I didn't make it!Walked to lake in evening which looked promising for a longer stay with pedaloes and loungers. Troyes is reputedly a very interesting town to visit.

For those of you wondering how long it takes to drive there. Arrived at Dunkerque at 11.30am and arrived at the campsite at 4.45pm. This was with two quick stops for diesel and toilets. (can't do two things at once.
The campsite reception closed for lunch, this not for an hour but longer. Can't remember the times but I think at 12.45 to 2.30 ish. There is usually a queue waiting to get in after lunch.
No problem with camping cheques silver card but paid extra for the two kids (6 euro each a night) kids are expensive. Given a pitch which was fine and noticed that most of the other campers were retired couples.
Pitches have their own water and waste water point. Electric is the normal uk hook up. The pitches are not level some caravanners had trouble getting level so carrying some device.
Both toilets blocks are fine. The new one as previously mentioned is the best I have seen. Its not a big site but is a mixture of tents, caravans and motorhomes.
Pool complex is excellent, water slightly cold but bearable. Loungers on the poolside. Bar was reasonable priced 4 euro for a large stella. Our weather was great. If you get poor weather then there is not much to do around the area.
If you are a water sports fan then this is the site for you. There are cycling routes and you can cycle in the woods. The area is usually quiet except for Sunday whereby the locals come out in force.
Lots of motorhomes seem to stay overnight in a nearby car park. Everybody was polite on site and overall an excellent site.
If looking for a good north france campsite that's not to far from Calais/Dunkerque then this is the one.
On a slightly different note the designer outlets are still extremely expensive so wouldn't recommend them.

Stayed for three nights on route south. Bit too commercial for our liking. Staff were friendly but the issue of a pitch was somewhat haphazard, they offered us a choice of about eight, we chose one and then were told they had issued it to someone else !
Lots of money has been spent on the buildings ie Reception, shop, laundry, pool area which is excellent and a fab new sanitary block but the camping areas of the site are rough and untidy and on the whole unlevel.
Bread can be ordered at the shop for the following day which is useful. The situation of the site is good, directly opposite the lake with excellent water sport facilities for those who want this.
Lovely surrounding countryside and a visit to Troyes is a must - delightful medieval town.

Lac d'Orient is a new campsite in the region of Aube en Champagne on the shores of the lake and in the heart of the Foret d'Orient Regional Park. The lake is just opposite the campsite and a great place to have some fun and relax.
It has two pools indoor and outdoor. The outdoor pool is built in the shape of the Kawan turtle and includes a main pool and paddling pool also two waterslides, also a spacious terrace for sunbathing
On the site there is also a play area to the theme of the jungle with slides a jeep and plenty of places to climb. Also a bouncy castle.
The campsite restaurant offers a simple menu and take away,.
The 140 pitches are spread over vast wooded parkland going down to the lakeside
The pitches sheltered by the mature trees have varying degrees of shade according to your preference. The new toilet block is probably one of the best we have seen on any campsite
I would rate this campsite very highly
