We're just back from our first touring holiday in our caravan, and this was the first stop of three as we try to decide what we like as a family for an ideal campsite.
Oathill Farm is a very pleasant site, and was easy to find following the excellent directions from the owner who took the trouble to call us on Friday to ensure that we knew where we were going.
We were on a hardstanding pitch in the centre of an area put aside for tourers, motorhomes and 3 permanent log cabins. Whilst the pitch size was adequate, we did have to park our car in the carpark and there wasn't much room around the van. There was also no dedicated play area for the children that was visible from the caravan, but as we spent most of our time visiting the local beautiful coast, this wasn't a massive issue.
The showers and toilets were superb, well maintained and the washing machine and dryer were reasonably priced, although only domestic machines so we could only do a small load.
There were two or three further fields for tents, and a small petting area for a few rabbits and goats, although this wasn't anything special.
The wardens and owners were very friendly, and offered free wifi up in the farmhouse which also provides a tea room and B&B.
All in all, it was a successful start to our two week break.

Wow. As good as it gets!
Flat field with massive pitches and only one other camper in the middle of August!
Spotlessly clean showers and toilets cleaned at least twice per day.
Great washing and drying facilities and very cheap to use.
On site shop with everything you could every need and all sold at sensible prices.
We've been camping now for 5+ years and our standards are very high.
Oathill Farm is as good as it gets so please visit as it should not be empty!
It's a short 30 minute drive to the coast and a wonderfully relaxed base to return to each day in some very beautiful countryside.
This will be our base next time we visit this area for sure.

We Spent 4 nights at this little gem of a site and really have nothing negative to say about the site or its staff/owners. The amenity block was relatively new and very good, with plentiful hot water. The reception was in the old farm house which also doubled as the tea rooms and restaurant that did lovely Sunday roasts. There was a lovely 'paddock' complete with fishing pond and benches. It was lovely just to down, feed the fish and have a little picnic. The owners were just so friendly and made you feel right at home.
Whilst there we visited West Bay, where 'Broadchurch' was filmed. This is a lovely old harbour town with fantastic beach and views along the 'Jurassic Coast'. Also Lyme Regis, Seatown, Eype and Abbotsbury.
Oathill farm really is a lovely little site that is still evolving, we will be back.

We have just got back from a lovely short stay at Oathill and will definitely be returning as soon as we can.
The owners are so friendly and willing to help. As usual we forgot something, this time the BBQ grill so asked paul if he could help us out and he provided us with a BBQ to use for ur stay.
The site was perfect with amazing views of rolling countryside. Wonderful clean and warm facilities, and a well stocked fishing lake which kept my husband entertained all day.

Despite some very wet weather, our impression here was entirely positive. The facilities put most small campsites to shame: an adequate number of showers!; thermostatic showers!; a grey-water dropping point that's easily accessible by motorhomes!
The area's pretty rather than spectacular, but several good paths start at or near the site. There are pleasant walks to Ford Abbey and Blackdown Hill, and easy access to the Wessex Ridgeway.
This is a site we'll definitely return to.

Like previous reviewers my wife and I found the site ideal and the family owners most friendly and helpful. As we have a 27 foot 5th wheel I asked on booking whether the site was suitable. One of the family actually went and measured pitches 4 & 5 to make sure. Although somewhat narrow negotiating the entry lane Larry (friend of the owners) gave the greatest help in backing 'Bad Boy' onto pitch 5 and ensured we were OK.
We had a great breakfast on one day and the best cream tea with home made scones and raspberry jam you could wish for.
The toilet blocks were very clean and warm and the washing up facilities adequate with lots of hot water.
Crewkerne town has a choice of supermarkets, Beaminster is worth a visit for local produce and West Bay for those who like a sea breeze.
We would recommend this site without reservation.

It would be difficult to add to the positive comments already listed, except to say well done for the effort expended and time spent on making this such a pleasant place to stay. We chose pitch 5 because there were a number of vacant pitches and we wanted the view. We considered the view from this pitch to be the best, it is uninterrupted across the valley to the next rise which is some distance away. If you intend to use a full size awning with a larger caravan, it would be best to let the owners know on booking and ask for a wide pitch, enough space on all pitches not to feel `tight` but pitch 5 is long and possibly just too narrow to get a big awning in the width of the hard standing, plenty of grass to sit out though.
The road runs closest to this pitch but was never unduly noisy. There is some work locally where a few tip truck trips are needed during daylight hours but not more than a few and relatively unobtrusive. Night time is very peaceful. Lucy`s Tea Room, part of the site, is homely and comfortable. We met most of the family at some point or other here and new Sprocker `Rolo`, all very comfortable to be around. Very nice people.
We also had a viewing of the Cabins, all three very recently built and to a very high standard, very spacious and comfortably furnished.
Crewkerne has a shopping square in the centre with three supermarkets and enough shops for all your needs plus Banks and a Boots Chemist on the main street next to it. Plenty of pubs and eateries if you are not into cooking. Lucy`s does an excellent Sunday Lunch and Breakfast menu but you had better book up early for lunch, Local people tend to fill the spaces very quickly. They also say it is excellent, unfortunately we did not book early enough. Definitely two thumbs up.

Have just returned having spent 5 nights at this wonderful campsite. Owners gave us a warm welcome and were helpful and friendly at all times. The campsite is well laid out accommodating everyone's needs from tourers, log cabins (for those who don't camp) and a lovely little tent area with very spacious pitches. The toilet block is a little way away from the tent area but worth the stroll as it is spotless, and well maintained at all times. Showers hot and spotless despite there only being two in both men's and ladies, we never had to queue up the whole time we were there. Oh and they are heated, always toasty warm! There is a great little shop that has most of what you need, good washing up area clean and under cover. Good location for exploring Devon, Somerset and Dorset and only a 10min drive to a good selection of supermarkets.
In short we loved this site and will be going back again next year.

Stayed here from Saturday through till Wednesday, and was sad to leave this beautiful camp site. Facilities were spotless and warm, and added bonus of washing machine if your in need. We were pitched in a lovely field where tents are placed around the outer edge, fab for keeping an eye on the kids whilst they played. Owners were friendly and helpful. If you don't mind a short drive to local attractions you will love this small quiet and clean camp site. We will come again :)

We had booked for two weeks but had such a lovely time that we booked three extra nights when told our pitch was available. All in all this was one of the very best sites we have used in seventeen years of touring.
It is a family run business and their dedication to its success really shoes. The toilet block was immaculate. The pitches were well spaced with hard standing and the tea room in the farmhouse is delightful. The Sunday Lunches there are not to be missed and the delicious cream teas are as good as anywhere.
Wi Fi is available in the cafe but not on the site. TV signal and mobile on vodaphone was fine.
The small fishing lake is very well stocked. No monsters but fish up to around 5lb are regularly caught. Young beginners would be very unlucky if they didn't catch fish.
This is a very rural area on the borders of Dorset Somerset and Devon so lots of places to go. Crewkerne is about 3 miles or so with supermarkets and takeaways and a very good chippy. The breaded plaice completely covered our plates.
We certainly would recommend Oathill.
