Website prices are a little misleading as they don't mention prices per person and the lovely extra £6. 50 you have to pay for the electric points (of which there are 3 for an area used by about 10 tents). But I guess as my old man tells me often 'you get what you pay for' and we did.
The campsite is small but good solid ground and after all that rain you would have expected it to be a mud bath.
The shower area was 5 star as we're the staff. We had a breakfast where we could have eaten as much toast and cereal if we wanted to.
We will definitely be going back.

WOW! What a place. Arrived at 11:10 a. M and found our way to the reception area where we were welcomed by a lovely young lady who explained we were to be sited with a wonderful view of the beautiful Dorset/Somerset hills, we could see for miles, she also gave us lots of useful info and leaflets for various local attractions.
The site was quiet, apart from some slight road noise from the odd vehicle passing by, which didn't bother us. There were a few blank spaces for caravans and no tents, although a tent was pitched in the lower field after we'd been there a day or two, but this just added to the quietness of the surroundings.
The toilet/shower block was always kept clean and tidy and we didn't have to queue at all in the 7 days we stayed. There were lots of fresh water points to top up from and both the grey water and chemical toilet disposal points were at the toilet block, only a short distance away even for us who were one of the furthest units away from it.
We met Paul, who was the owners son-in-law, he was always there to give any guidance or local info and was a pleasure to talk to, we seemed to bump into him almost daily and he explained that the well stocked shop was presently un-staffed but if we needed anything, we were just to either pop some money into the bucket or pay for the items the following day up at the house.
The Euro's 2012 were on during our stay and I'd asked Paul if the tv reception would be ok due to the large trees there and he said yes it should be, he said if not I'm sure the father in law wouldn't mind you watching it up at the house with him. The tv reception was ok most of the time, requiring the odd tweak now and again.
They seemed to have everything you'd need at the shop. This was an ideal place to use as a base for visiting places such as Weymouth, West Bay, Lyme Regis and even as far as Exeter, in fact we even travelled as far as Portsmouth whilst we were there, to visit family.
We would definitely recommend this site to anyone thinking of visiting this area.
Unfortunately our only negative point would be the dog walks, these were signposted on entry to the camp reception area, however, when we took the dog we found out that the fields these walks were to follow were actually several fields where cattle were roaming so you had to keep your wits about you in case you trod in something and at the same time watching out for the cattle approaching from an adjoining field. Having said that, we managed ok.
We really must 'big up' the chef there at Oathill, he was full to bursting with orders for sunday dinner but he still managed to provide us and another couple in a motorhome with a full roast sunday dinner and pudding with all the trimmings on a tray with cutlery, salt and pepper gravy and napkins etc. In fact every member of staff there at Oathill just couldn't do enough for you, the cream teas are 'to die for' too.
So to finish, I'd just like to say well done to all at Oathill and thank you for making our stay there very memorable, we will definitely be back.
P. S don't tell everyone cause it'll soon fill up and then we won't be able to use it.

The site is very well maintained and tidy. We had ample room for our 6 man tent in the very quiet bottom field which was only a short distance from the shower block and washing facilities.
The toilets and showers themselves were extremely clean at all times of the day and even though it was a bank holiday we never had to Que throughout our 4 day stay! the staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome immediately.
The site is in a quiet location though close enough to many places to visit without having to drive too far. We will definitely return to this site and hopefully have better weather!

This is a super campsite with super facilities to match.
Well placed for Lyme Regis, Beer, Seaton and Charmouth. A 10 min drive from Crewkerne and a nice Waitrose store!
The owners are helpful and friendly. We were in the field by the main farmhouse and spent a happy 6 nights there. It is not a huge site and the tents surrounded an open field in which the children could play. The pets area was a welcome attraction and we all enjoyed watching the farmer catch Rambo the giant cockerel every night and ride off with him on his bike to his night cage!
The showers are clean and plenty of hot water. The washing up facitilies are actually indoors and there are freezers and a microwave to use. A well stocked shop proved very useful.
We had a cream tea in the tea rooms which was delicious.
We have booked to go again this summer.

We spent just over a week at Oathill and we were camping with three other families. We had the most wonderful time and the children especially liked visiting the goats. The other bonus was that there was a nest of swift chicks just over the washroom and we watched them grow and chirp louder over the week!
A gorgeous site with fantastic facilities - the washrooms were immaculate. The tearoom does wonderful cream teas and I can thoroughly recommend their Sunday lunch.
The site is perfectly located for access to Lyme Regis and Charmouth - perfect if you want to go fossiling.
The staff could not have been more helpful and we would definitely go back!

2 adult & 2 dogs. A lovely site with large tent pitches in top field, didn't visit tent area in bottom field so can't comment. As stated toilets etc were great. Staff extremely helpful but not intrusive. Great walks for dogs straight from the site. Tried to visit local pubs for food but none had card facilities !. Lots to do e. G. Forde Abbey, Sherborne, Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury/ Chesil beach. Ham hill is great for dogs/kids & has a lovely pub with good food (card facilities) and helpful staff. If you don't have kids then possibly request a pitch away from Pets Corner as children are there early & late.

This campsite is completely idyllic. We went past a campsite in Charmouth with all the entertainment and everything you could need but everyone is crammed in so you might as well share your tent with strangers! This site is the opposite. Lovely field for tents round edge with area for children to play in middle (no play area though). I felt completely safe letting our 2 run around. Pets corner on one side of field and pond. The tea room is open every day, very handy when I wanted to pop in for a slice of cake at 7pm! They do an evening meal (home cooked with veg from their patch) twice a week, fully licenced. The honesty shop (take now, pay later) has alcohol and a few holiday essentials, I do hope people respect this and don't spoil it for others.
The owners clearly love the site and are friendly and helpful. Small gated pond area for fishing on site.
Toilet block brand new, sparkly & immaculate. Didn't like the walk across there in dark though, could do with a light on the car park.
The slight downside of the site is that its quite a way from anything, nearest pubs are about 10-15 mins away and it took 25 mins to get to Lyme Regis or Charmouth or any other seaside towns. However, we will return next year and do some research on where to go before we travel.

Before arrival I had great cusomer service via Anna, in booking up which wasn't too straight forward due to our party and the different units etc.
On arrival at Oathill, it immediately appeared to be nice. Children were in the lane looking at the cows, and the initial stop point overlooked the camping field. The reception was signposted through the first gate, but not after so we did spend a while looking for it (its in the tea rooms!) We were met by a very nice man who told us what was what, and gave us a lot of info. We asked what time we had to eave, and he told us 10. 30 but checked if the pitch was booked after us - as it wasn't he said we could add an hour or so on to that time.
The tea rooms look lovely, and have a beautiful garden to sit in, but I didn't sample their food or tea so cant comment on that.
The site has a well stocked shop offering some garden supplies, some camping supplies along with a few grocerys. Charcoal for your bbq is just £1! The site is licensed and sells wine and beer too. The fridge has bacon and cheese and eggs also available.
The shop is run as an honesty shop, so you can tell its a nice site!
The campsite area itself is great. We stayed on a hardstanding site. Lovely surroundings of the cabin accommodation, very close to the toilet block. There were 3 other grass areas. One was on the other side of the site with the pets corner, where cockerels, goats, rabbits and a cow live, one next to the fishing lake, and the other tagged on to the end of the hardstanding area.
The toilet block is fantastic. Immaculately clean at all times. 2 showers and 2 toilets in the ladies (not sure about the mens), and a family bathroom.
A washer and a dryer are available too. The ladies has a free hairdryer.
Part of the area next to the fishing lake was cordoned off as they are building what looks like a house in it - but I don't know for sure what it will be. This general area is supposed to be for recreation, and although there was still a lot of space, I would have preferred the lake to have been fenced off in some way from this for the kids (but I realise this doesn't matter to many)
There was a permanent (as far as we cold tell by the grass growing around its wheels) caravan parked which did have very loud tv on until the early hours for 1 night of our stay. Had it been 2 nights I may have said something, but it wasn't.
My only suggestion to improve would be in the toilets - shelves in the shower cubicles would be good to put your bottles on, and a baby changing table in the family bathroom would make a good addition so that there is space to dress a little one after a shower - due to the open nature of the shower it tends to have a very wet floor throughout.
I found that there was no hot water when having a shower at 11. 30am, but the site says it always has hot water. ?? It was the only time I tried in the late AM so have no idea if this was a one off.
There are 2 washing up areas - one in the loo block (with a lovely baby swallow nesting above it) and one in the shop (so only open some of the time)
Next to the washing up area is recycling etc.
It is kept very clean and tidy.
We visited Lyme Regis which took about 25 mins, and West Bay which took about 40mins. We had a meal out in the local area at the Royal oak pub in the next village - Drimpton (5 min drive) - which was lovely, but it should be noted that they only accept cash (unless this was just a fault at the time)
All in all, this is a lovely, family friendly site. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I felt relaxed as soon as I entered it, and was really impressed by its charm and facilities.

What a great place to visit! This was a last minute booking and we just stumbled across this site by accident and can honestly say it was worth the find.
It is very child friendly with a pets corner (although we don't have children) it was lovely to see so many happy faces, we made so many friendly contacts as everyone on site was so happy and relaxed.
Situated right on the borders of Dorset, Somerset and Devon you can cross three County borders within a few minutes so there is loads to see and do within a short drive.
The owners were superb, I even gained a lesson in how they pump water from underground wells, yes the water is that fresh and treated on site!
I highly suggest this site especially for families with young children who can spend hours playing in the open field. It was so nice to sit outside our tent watching the adults playing with their children, took me right back to my childhood!
Loved it! Will definitely be going back.
