Just come back from 5 days camping at Oathill, and agree with the previous review, the toilets and showers are warm and immaculate, there is a small animal ‘petting area’ which our four children adored. We had a fabulous holiday but the campsite didn’t live up to our expectations.
There is lots to do in the area Lyme Regis is worth a visit (particularly if you like shopping- highly recommend a trip to The Town Mill Bakery) and so is Charmouth – we found the beach surprising quiet for the Summer. Further afield you can visit Monkey World (about an hour away)- a fabulous day out for all the family.

We had a lovely time at this family-run site! The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. They recommended local places to eat and visit. The facilities were excellent - lovely clean toilets and showers, warm and lots of nice touches including hand towels changed daily, flowers and hairdryer.
The farmhouse kitchen served wonderful afternoon tea and probably the biggest most delicious sunday lunch going with great homemade desserts. The breakfast was also good. There is a requirement to book for all meals. At the back of the farmhouse there is a small-holding with a few animals - goats, hens, ducks, rabbits. Lovely for children. When the weather was good we ate afternoon tea outside with our friends and their son and he loved it! There is a shop on-site where you can buy supplies of milk, bread etc which was really handy.
Our only criticism would be that the washing up area was small and if the campsite had been busier it would have involved queuing.
Enjoyed a visit to the Subtropical Gardens at Abbotsbury where we saw kookaburras for the first time! The village of Abbotsbury was lovely and had some interesting galleries and arty shops. The newsagent there sold local cider/beer. Chesil beach was amazing and the view from the top of the gardens over the coastline was fantastic.
We were just visiting for a few days and spent a lot of time relaxing near our tent, it was quiet and unspoilt, with lots of trees surrounding the site. Had we stayed longer we would have taken more trips out to places such as Chard and Weymouth. We had some great fish and chips from Bridport, a shop that has won prizes for some of the best fish and chips in the country.
This campsite also has some great cabins for hire and B&B available too. We will definitely recommend it to friends and will probably return there ourselves.

Absolutely fabulous site, restored my faith in camping after a bad experience with 2 kids, swine flu and some portaloos!
This is a small site for camping but the facilities are A ++. The owners put so much effort into getting everything right and all the facilities are done so wonderfully. The shower rooms are like that of a hotel, clean and lots of showers for the size of field. Fantastic kids facilities, hot water, warm shower block. There is a petting area which the kids love.
There is also a tea room selling fabulous food and cakes.
The people who own this site out so much love into it and made us feel so welcome I would definitely come back. I cannot recommend this site for the money enough.
20 minutes to Lyme Regis so although away from the coast it is an easy drive with lots to do in the surrounding area.
