Hi to all
We have visited this site twice now within two weeks, it is a lovely site situated just outside Halifax. Halifax itself is a lovely small town which has all the shops that a main city centre has, but in a lot less space, so it is easy to get around (there are a few small hills) I found the people all very friendly and easy to talk to. The campsite itself is situated on a slope, but the owner provided us with wheel chocks to level the caravan, as we forgot ours. A lovely peaceful and respectable site with great tranquil views, clean toilets and shower block. Thank you to cherry tree farm owner for making our stay welcome.

We are still on site the second night of a two night stay. We have very mixed feelings.
This site has absolutely great potential but feel it falls short in a couple of areas.
First the good.
It is a pleasant little site with a good atmosphere. Set on gentle slope that leads to a beck with pleasant walks either way, when you have navigated your way through the factory.
The guy running the site is pleasant enough and seems to be available if needed.
The site allows you to bring your own fire pit/burner.
The view across the valley is easy on the eye and as the elevation drops steeply at the bottom of the site and with the help of tree screening the factory is hidden from view.
Now the not so good.
Earlier posts stated that a fifteen minute walk turning left out of the site was a pub serving meals. Unfotunately this pub has closed down, so if you are eating out and walking, West Vale/Greetland is the only option. I spoke to a couple of locals who recommended going further afield. But that is not the sites fault.
There has been no attempt to cater for children. When booking about a week before arrival we had enquired about a pitch for a tent for our daughter and grandkids but decided not to book for them until we had seen the site.
We had booked for two nights and when we asked if we could reduce to one in order to go to a more child friendly site, the guy told us that this was not an option and it was two nights or nothing. I was prepared to go elsewhere but as we had just set up in near 30 degree temperatures, the wife was in no mood to up sticks.
This brings me to the price. At £23 per night for a two night stay, this can only be described as excessive.
When arriving and seeing what was on offer we questioned why the price was more than sites with playgrounds and swimming pools to which he responded by, as another poster has mentioned, boasting of his ratings on this site. He also started reeling off the local amenities. To be fair he was reasonable but would not concede his prices were too high. His argument was that as it is situated in an urban area the cost of the land was 120 times more than rural sites.
Parking is a bit of a problem. You are not allowed to park by your caravan/ tent. Caravan pitches have allocated, labelled parking spaces but when you leave site in your car some always parks in your space. A tad annoying.
Now for the bad.
Earlier posts have commented on the immaculate shower and toilet facilities. I have my reservations but there may be some snagging yet to be done. The two showers available in the gents are serviced by one drain. This is devoid of a cover and full of gunge. It is situated in the right cubicle so if both showers are in use, the right benefits with grey water spilling from the left. Call me picky but I wouldn't share bath water with a stranger. If you take closer inspection it all seems a bit DIY.
The exit from the lower end of the site to the beck is not a footpath and would suggest that this needs urgent attention. There are several tripping hazards. Anyone who is a bit unsteady on their feet should avoid this.
My biggest gripe of all is that the chemical waste disposal doubles up as the source of drinking water although it is labelled that the blue hose is for drinking. To me this is an absolute no no. We went straight to the supermarket and bought bottled. All extra cost.
This is the reason I am going to rate this site poorly.
I'm sorry but if you are providing a service, it has to be safe. A shame because this could be a cracking little site.

We arrived Friday night and stayed until Sunday. The site and toilet/showers was immaculate. The grounds are tended to daily. Friendly owner offered campers the opportunity to be involved with rounding up and shearing his rare sheep. Close to village with good range of shops and super markets. I would say if your looking for a quite, relaxed and friendly site with beautiful views then this is the place for you.

This is a lovely little site, though mostly occupied by workers who rent the sites for 6 months or so. There was only 1 tourer site available when we booked. I do think that £27 per night is vastly over priced. We have never paid that much on any site. We were not on holiday but had to be in that area, otherwise we would not have stayed there. Another thing to remember, if you are planning to stay, is that the site only accepts cash. Bit of a shame that it is so expensive because it is a lovely site.

We've just had the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at Cherry Tree and didn't want to come home. The weather was perfect, the site was nicely busy but not crowded (lot of well-behaved dogs and children), the pitches were well kept and John was around the whole weekend making improvements on the site (new plants this weekend). The shower and washing-up block (complete with washer and drier is up and running now.
We took a detour on the way home and drove through Stainland and Barkisland; they're very pretty and probably worth a walk up there next time.
We drove to Karachi (restaurant) in Bradford on Sunday night and can't recommend it highly enough. Well worth the trip.
I must mention Morrisons in Elland too - a really well stocked supermarket. The Co-op at the bottom of the hill is handy, too.

Yet another great weekend at Cherry Tree Farm.
We don't live far and have our caravan stored here which makes it a great get away for the weekend.
The site is beautifully situated with great views. Fantastic walks to be had straight from the site. Sadly our poor old dog cant hack it anymore so we happily lounged around the site this weekend and watched people come and go.
The site owner is always busy doing jobs around the site and chatty and helpful as ever. We needed a couple of items to do repairs to the van and he pointed us in the right direction. (Simpsons Leisure down the road - really helpful and cheap!)
The new facilities are lovely, few teething problems but nothing major and John kept us updated.
We will be back soon :-)

Just home from a lovely weekend. The site is very relaxed and the owner very helpful. He was genuinely welcoming, happy to give directions. It's fine for dogs and their were several there (on leads). The site is on a small slope but I was in a tent and it was fine. It was quiet, with a lovely view. The new toilet block is almost finished, 2 female toilets and showers - I guess it's the same in the Men's. There is also a nice rom, with a washing up sink, clothes washer and dryer.
There is a path to the river at the bottom, which leads to Worth Vale, where there is a co-op, pubs and a cafe.
I will definitely go back.

This is a mixed review,
I really loved this site, beautiful surroundings, peaceful and with an owner who could not have been more helpful and friendly.
The new shower block is lovely and is in use with just a few finishing touches to be done. The shower I used one morning was not working, the owner could not apologise enough. There is a washing machine which I did not use.
The site is on quite a slope, blocks were definitely needed (which the owner loaned me)
There are walks from the site which are lovely once you pass the factories (which cannot be seen, the views are beautiful)
I do feel though that the price was very high for a site which is quite basic. It cost £25 with hookup for the bank holiday, I believe £22 at other times. There is no shop, play ground etc which is the type I prefer but normally do pay a lot less for.

Although we arrived late, 10. 45pm and could not find the entrance to the site, a quick phone call to the Owner helped us find our way and directed us to a well lit hardstanding thus enabling us to park up easily and get to bed without too much delay.
We spent 4 nights at this site and it suited our needs exactly.
My daughter and our 2 grandchildren could play safely on this site.
Although the new toilet and shower block is not finished yet, we understand that it will be very soon.
Yes, we will use the site again next year.

I have to be fair with this review and so I will grade it against many other sites we have stayed at including over 150 Caravan Club sites.
The area is pretty and the site is set off any main road and therefore is quiet and set in a picturesque area.
We had made a telephone call and sent an e-mail to confirm our booking as requested by the site owner.
On arrival the marked super pitches had all been filled and it was obvious that our request had been neglected and there was no explanation given. We were then guided to select an area of rough ground or a hard chipping area, which was set-aside for those people with tents who needed to park their cars.
Not much of a choice really following the disappointment of not reserving our pitch. We talked it through whilst the owner scurried around doing something else. To be honest we tried ringing another nearby site but only got through to an answer machine, so we elected for the car park piece and not the rough ground.
The EHU would not reach the nearest power point from here and so the owner gave us an extension lead to enable its use. The pitch provided us with a nice view, which from time to time was interfered with by a car parking behind or alongside us - most annoying.
The toilets were abysmal, a portable cabin that provided unisex showers (2 in total) and a ladies and gents. They were not very clean, although there was a few items there which had been provided for you to clean them yourself (a cloth and a bottle of cleaner). A motorway workman’s hut would have matched the standard! But, in fairness there is a work in progress with a brand new toilet block opening in November, so he said.
The pot wash was outside for those of you that like that facility. The owner was friendly enough but his lack of care and haphazardness was not what you needed after a 6 hour drive.
I wouldn’t stay here again; it just does not come up to the standards, at the time of writing, to many other sites. The owner was shouting out '9 out of 10' on UK campsite. He wasn't paying £22 per night, which exceeds the costs of many other sites, so his site is over-priced, but I guess, a new toilet block costs, hence the price.
