We have just spent a wonderful weekend at Cherry Tree Farm. The view from the site is lovely,it feels like a little haven - what a find!
The site is kept spotless by the very attentive owner for whom nothing is too much trouble.
We explored the area all weekend. There are lovely walks,a nearby fishing lake, we took a stroll down the canal and found a real ale pub!
There is also a choice of restaurants in nearby Elland and although we no longer have small children Eureka! is only 10 mins away and the lovely Shibden Park.
We are going back very soon!

Hi, I visited cherry tree farm camp site as my bike was booked in to get new exhausts fitted just 1 mile away. I arrived late Saturday night due to getting lost, when I arrived at 9 pm I was given a warm welcome by the owner. As soon as I got my tent up I went out for a take away Chinese & came back to my tent & had my dinner looking over the valley which had a most stunning view. The site is only 5 mins drive to Halifax town centre & going the other way 1 minutes drive to the most stunning views. The toilets are immaculate and there wasn't a single piece of litter to be seen. The next time I'm in Halifax I know where I'll be going !.

Just returned home from a 2 night stay here and what a hidden gem of a place. The site owner is always on hand and more than helpful, we had trouble packing up with strong winds today and were directed to a better spot where we easily packed our new tent away. The facilities are basic, toilets and showers all scrupulously cleaned a few times each day. Electric available although we don't use it. Application to extend this site has been made and fingers crossed, the locals will relish rather than resent the idea. We went here looking for a bit of peace and quiet and that is exactly what we got. It is a family site suitable for all. There are lovely walks in the countryside and into the small village of West Vale where we shopped in the local Premier store and also tested the chinese take away, both well recommended. We will be returning soon when we will test the local just about a mile up the road and do some more walking in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The owner it is true will do anything to help at anytime. The showers/toilets froze up on our first night so we did not use them, although the owner defrosted them is was too cold to use these facilities as they are not heated. EHU is as stated in previous reviwe, on an extension lead. The owner did explain he is still waiting for planning permission from the council to up date and improve everything. We walked into Greetland village and caught the bus to Huddersfield (40 mins). We took the walk down to the stream, and again as stated in a previous previous , this could be signposted. The unusual sheep in the two fields are unusual to say the least. All in all we felt £15 a night for a couple for the facilities at present is a little steep and should be reviewed.

The owner has made strenuous efforts to convert what was a small industrial plot into a farm-type small-holding with space for a number of camping units (tourers and tents) and is well on the way to success.
There is a very large hard-standing, parking area, which was handy being as we arrived after dark and in the rain. So we pitched the caravan for one night there and then migrated to the field for the remaining 5 days.
The caravan-eye view is that you are situated in a pleasant, sloping field with lovely views south to the elevated golf club and moorland. There's a pleasant approach from the Saddleworth Road on the north of the site, with the rare sheep in the adjacent field to the east. So all-in-all a very pleasant feeling, the only downside being the dour village of Greetland a mile down the road.
The pluses are the great location for the Calderdale and very lovely places like Saddleworth Moor, Hebden Bridge, Haworth, Halifax and even Bradford (old university haunt). So it's a good base from which to potter around West Yorkshire, with excellent, but non-intrusive, access to the M62. We even did a day's dive into the Peak District as far as Ladybower and Hope Valley.
Back to the site; The owner is very committed to developing it and is a perfect and attentive host to the last. Although there is a very large hard standing for vehicles and some caravans the camping field is grass-only at present. Showers and toilets are always clean albeit a little 'industrial' being a 'portable cabin'; so not quite in keeping with the feeling of a country retreat. The electric showers are adequate for temperature and pressure.
There is electric hook-up on request. This is a little bit amateurish and consists of extension leads run from the barn, to standard 13-amps sockets that can be staked into the ground ('a B&Q garden job'). They really should be upgraded to the proper industrial, hookup cables.
Overall we had a perfectly pleasant stay and no complaints. I think you need transport just to get that few miles out of Greetland to see the real attractions of Calderdale.

I found this site and rang three campsites, this one being the best. The owner was so friendly from the minute I rang even though he was on a walk on a monday evening.
The surroundings are lovely and very quiet. The sheep are lovely too!
Although the facilities only cater for two people at a time, this wasn't a problem at all for us as we were the only campers (not surprising due to the freezing cold weather!) and they are really clean and plenty of mirrors. Just don't forget your loo roll.
Didn't use the shower as it was too cold to get naked lol but they were very clean and quite spacious! The owner told us that he was in the middle of building new facilities which if you have a nosey around the side of the metal barn you can see the frame is a lot bigger. He mentioned a few of the new features that will be included and they sounded great and will make it even better!
The owner was always popping on site to check everything was okay and even offered us a takeaway menu and rang the shop to confirm the address just in case we ordered!
The fishing lake is great, a lovely scenic walk with a fresh water big stream below. Although I do feel the way to the lake shud be signposted as we followed the stream path and eventually discovered after our attempts that there is no fish in there! We ended up spending a whole day down by the lake and met a lovely local man who helped us fish like pros
We used the local chinese on friday, I wouldn't recommend walking if ur not a walking enthusiast but it isn't a million miles away about a five minute drive. The food was slightly hit and miss, some bits were lovely and some was nice but nothing was disgusting and I would use it again.
Other than the cold at night, our stay was relaxing and we felt really accommodated and safe. I'd recommend Cherry Tree to anyone, especially first timers as its not in the complete middle of no where!

Extremely friendly from the moment you phone to book till the time you go home, couldn't do more to make your stay feel very warm and at ease. Beautiful views from pitching site, lovely rare sheep grazing in fields. Showers and toilets really good, cleaned on a daily basis. There's even a pot wash. Electric hook up if needed. Walking distance to local shops and pubs and only a short drive to Halifax. With owners permission there's a fantastic fishing lake where you can spend many an hour sitting there in a lovely setting. Cannot wait to go back again soon thankyou for a really relaxing stay
