Mw wife and I decided to once again visit this fantastic site but without our children to celebrate our anniversary. What better than a bottle of wine under the stars with the fire roaring!
On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who directed us towards the woods where we could choose to potch our small pop up tent.
We returned later that day to find that 'Jed' one of the owners had dropped off a fire pit for us. The site is well positioned and serviced with good, very clean facilities.
The next day 'Jed' told us how to walk to a nearby PH, a lovely short walk with stunning views out across the river.
We love this site so much and can't wait to return once again. Ps Don't tell too many people as this is a hidden gem and such a cool site!
Thanks again for a wonderful break away

This campsite is now my favourite. I've already visited it twice this year. Christine and Jed (the owners) are some of the nicest people I have ever met and nothing is too much trouble for them. The last time we stayed it had been raining heavily so we weren't able to take the car into the wood area, so Christine lent us some wheelbarrows to transport out kit (not far from car-park) and helped us with moving our kit to the wood. So the facilities.
The showers and loos are housed in a shed sort of arrangement, don't let this fool you, they are by far the best camp-site showers we have used, very hot, very powerful and very clean. Think there is about 5 showers and considering the site only takes 30 bookings (think Jed said) there will never be a problem with queuing.
There is also a large fridge/freezer, washing machine to use along with washing up area to one side. (Electric sockets too. )
Campsite is £15 per night per tent, there were 4 of us and bags of logs for £3. 50. The fire-pits are loaned out free of charge so this site is not only my favourite but cheapest too (and is a dog-friendly site. )
I can honestly say I have found nothing negative about this site (it was a Friday night we stayed, we had no problem with road noise). I think this campsite is going to be a regular of mine this summer and love what Christine and Jed have created here (if I ever ran my own site this is how it would be).
Great area too with lots to do, I know this because I live locally). This is what I call a 'proper' campsite but with the added luxury of the shower/utility block.

Being the hottest October weekend in memory we decided to head for Kent. Although the campsite had closed for the season, when I phoned I was told they were re-opening due to demand. We’re glad they did.
We were warmly welcomed on arrival – which was fairly late on a Friday evening, and shown the facilities and how to get to the camping wood. The trees are well spread out with plenty of green space in between to pitch a tent.
The ground is level and the pegs went in easily. There are no defined ‘pitches’ but the number of tents is limited so there is plenty of room. We found it very pleasant to have the shade of the trees against a sun that was surprisingly strong and hot.
Overall it was a beautiful place to be. Water, washing up, toilet and shower facilities are perhaps 100 yards away in a wooden shed - fairly basic, but clean and operable – and all that we required. We explored the extensive grounds on foot, and went further afield on footpaths that lead away from the site.
It is well situated for walking. The noise of a distant road can be heard at intervals during the night – presumably cars and lorries unloading from the Ramsgate ferries, but not enough to disturb us.
In summary, a very pleasant site with good basic facilities and a warm and friendly welcome.

10 of us spend a weekend there last week and I can honestly say, this is the best campsite I have ever stayed at!
At £10 per tent you would expect it to be a bit basic, but no - very clean unisex toilets/showers (2 showers, 3 toilets) a couple of washing up sinks with hot water and washing up liquid, a communal fridge/freezer and washing machine all housed in a rustic but clean barn style building.
Not only is the site nestled among trees, a pond and loads of bushes that provide little corners to tuck in, they also allow campfires and sell wood at £3. 50 per bag.
Jed and Christine are really lovely, and also sell home-grown produce very reasonably priced.
The site is relatively close to a road, so if you are looking for absolute silence, you may not like the sound of the odd car passing by, on the relatively quiet country road. Also, some have mentioned the bumpy ground and big holes, but its a tiny thing compare to all the great things this site offers. (I believe Jed is going to have that fixed by next season anyway)
Overall a fantastic site - I was contemplating not leaving a review, as I would like this gem to remain unspoiled, but that would be selfish.
I cant wait for it to get warmer, so we can go again.

Set amidst peaceful countryside, Nethergong is an ideal place from which to explore this part of Kent - Canterbury, Whitstable, Stodmarsh Nature Reserve, Howlett's Zoo to name a few. There are also several excellent pubs within walking distance. The site is not regimented with numbered places - instead you are free to choose your camping spot. This is difficult because there are so many lovely places to pitch your tent: in the shade (or shelter) of trees or out in the open. The only place I don't recommend is near the goal-posts!
The facilities are clean and more than adequate. The owners, Christine and Jed, are delightful and always ready to provide advice and information. For children the site is itself a place of wonder containing, as it does, at least two lakes well populated with a variety of birds and - in the right season - loads of frogs!
This is a splendid place. We'll be returning.

Yes indeed I'm very late in making my review but better late then never. Firstly thank you Jed and Christine for your kindness and hospitality and greetings from Holland. As I was arriving we rang ahead as we arrived earlier then stated, Christine answered with a friendly voice and without hesitations popped in her car to make sure she was there to meet us, we were very pleasantly surprised, lovely site with lots of room to find your privacy. Loved the fact we were able to have a small fire and spent many hours listening to the crackling flames, facilities were great, clean and inviting, shower could of done wth a bit more power but hey no complaints as it was much more then we, d expected. For the 10 pound a night it was fantastic.
Whilst being there my car started playing up, battery we guessed so after asking for help Jed was there in no time and jump started me. When packed and ready to leave the problem reoccurred, quite disturbed by these problems and no AA member Christine rang around and kindly found someone to come on down the campsite to take a look, whilst waiting the freedom to drink tea and chat with Christine and the office girls, able to de-stress from a worrying situation, this hospitality moved me, its just what you need when stuck and quite worried as we still had a long trip to make. Well to cut a long story short we were helped on our way, smiles all around and I look back at a great few days in a lovely place with people with hearts of gold, thankyou and we will be back ;). Loved it.

We managed to secure the last place for the evening and rushed over hoping for a lovely site. We arrived to a warm welcome and tour of the site.
We were allowed to pick where to set up (Meadows, forest, field). We chose the forest, which had plenty of space. Our dog was welcomed and due to the peace on the site, settled really well.
The facilities are basic but clean and tidy. A bit busy on Saturday morning but nothing to really to complain about.
We loved our stay and would definitely recommend to others. Perfect to escape London and have some much needed Rest.

We've just arrived back from a wonderful stay at Nethergong.
On arrival Christine showed us around the campsite, we decided to pitch in the field, due to fact that the other campers all had children of a similar age to our own (+ the fact that some previous campers had left some goal posts!)
We camped on the west side of the field, which is decidedly more bumpy than the east, but it didn't bother us.
Our boys had a great time watching the frogs in the pond (remember to take nets as the pond dipping is good fun)but beware the midges! We didn't see the grass snakes, but seeing as the weather was decidedly damp that wasn't a surprise.
Shower and toilet blocks were always clean and well stocked with toilet rolls/fairy washing up liquid/ handwash and even detergent for the washing machine. We only had to queue for the washing up once and that was one evening after a shower of rain when everyone made a dash for it!
An added bonus was the fresh fruit and veg on sale every day. We had the choice of strawberries / plums / peppers / chillis and carrots. Also on sale were logs (£3. 50) and kindling (50p)
As it was raining hard on the first morning we decided not to cook and instead headed towards Canterbury and stopped at Asda cafe for a fry up!
Nearby was the Grove Ferry which is a lovely pub which also does B+B, which was quite tempting as it was still raining! Food was lovely, but not cheap. The kids meal was quite reasonable (£6) and they had a lovely child size battered fish fillet with chips and peas.
We loved the Gate Inn in Chislet, lovely beer and good food.
Wildwood was about 10 minutes away, a lovely wildlife park concentrating on british wildlife, past and present.
We will definitely be going back next year.

Wow came back last night what a wonderful site, Jed and Christine are very attentive host came over to check everything was ok and that we had enjoyed our stay.
There was a wooded area or field on offer to camp in we chose the the wood and hid ourselves away, people on site were really friendly. The kids had loads of space to roam around in either the woods or play football on the camping field.
The facilities on site include 3 showers and 4 toilets, 2 sinks with hot and cold water for washing up, outside drinking water tap and a chemical toilet disposal and a washing machine. All areas kept very clean. There is fresh seasonal veg available.
There was a post office come shop approx 10 mins walk away and some pubs. Loads of things to do with a 20 mile radius including blue flag beaches.
On the down side take mozzie spray as site is surrounded by water.

We, a Dutch family with two girls (8 & 10), stayed for a week at Nethergong. We absolutely loved the site. It was like camping in the wild but with the basic facilities (we're not that tough!).
For us basic is good enough: showers with good warm water, toilets, sinks, fridge & freezer. Everything clean. Very friendly owners with lots of information about the environment.
What else do you wish for? We now know: a campfire! We all loved it! We had a great place on a corner of the open field, lovely in the evening sun.
Although it was a bit of a walk to the toilets we didn't bother because it's a beautiful walk. Just watch out for the holes in the bumpy field. Only minor thing: mozzies.
We visited Canterbury and cycled parts of the Viking trail and Crab & Winkle way, very recommendable especially with kids (safe & quiet cycling lanes).
And last but not least: we never had such a cheap stay. This was our first camping experience in England after many years in France, and it was a very good one!
