We visited Nethergong in the middle of June and we will definitely be back in the future. The site is a wonderful gem.
There is a choice of areas to camp in - the wood, the field and by the pond. We chose by the pond and it was a lovely private corner. A friend joined us on the last night and there was room for maybe three tents there.
There is more to the site than just the camping areas and if you vist then you should take the opportunity to walk by the river and around the other fields. Our dog was very happy with the amount of space and enjoyed making some new friends.
The facilities are good. Basic but a fridge and washing machine were available. We had the campsite mostly to ourselves for most of the week and we had to queue only on the Saturday morning when a few large groups arrived.
The local area is lovely. It's rural, but only a short drive from Canterbury and the coast. Or there are a lot of footpaths that start close to the campsite(one path comes up to the back gate). There are a couple of nice pubs within walking distance, along with the nature reserve which is worth a stop.
All in all a great campsite.

We were a party of 2 family tents with children aged 12, 13 and 14. On arrival we were shown to the meadow and an area near the pond and asked to take our pick.
The woods were already occupied. We chose the meadow as we were concerned about mossies as it was a damp evening. The pitches are unmarked but there was plenty of space between each group of campers.
The field used to have horses in it and we understand that the owners hope to improve the holes over the coming winter. It was not a problem once we had levelled things. The toilets and washing up facilities were spotless. We didn't use the showers but they looked lovely.
Christine was very friendly and gave helpful suggestions about places to visit. I would definitely recommend this site as it has a lovely atmosphere and is in a fantastic area. We were delighted to spot the owl on Saturday night and were fascinated by the marsh frogs.
A wonderful welcome and a real haven of a campsite. We hope to visit again.

This is a lovely site, very spacious and uncrowded. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, and offered the choice of a pitch in the wood (an area of widely planted poplars, bordered by hedges) or the field.
We chose the wood, and, as there were only three other tents in occupation, had a range of possible pitches to select from. Our nearest neighbours were at the far corners of the wood throughout our stay. Camp fires are allowed, as long as you use an existing fire site to avoid scorching the grass.
The facilities were simple but modern, clean and well-maintained, and hot water was very reliable. We never queued for either a shower or a sink. A large, clean fridge and freezer were available to store food, and there was also a washing machine.
The nursery site is much more extensive than the camping area, and campers are free to walk over it all. Christine gave us good advice about finding a pub for dinner (the Fordwich Arms) and we enjoyed exploring the local area's beaches and sights (especially recommended: the Roman fort at Richborough, and the Powell-Cotton Museum at Quex House, Birchington, which contains spectacular and fascinating Victorian and early twentieth century natural history dioramas, and an interesting ethnographic collection).
Thanks for a lovely weekend - we will return!

The owners Christine and Ned are lovely and greet everyone upon arrival and show them around the site. The toilets and showers are very nice although when busy the showers run out when people are using the sink taps to wash up etc.
They limit the amount of tents to 10/12 so just choose a good time to shower. Site has a nice wooded area or a meadow to camp in. We chose the meadow which had some good sheltered spots against the trees as it was a windy weekend.
The meadow is very bumpy and rutty so no good for playing cricket / football with the kids, which we like to do so this was disappointing for us, I think it may have been a ploughed field previously. Camp fires allowed which was great and logs, local produce sold on site.
Great walks and lovely pub (Grove ferry) nearby. If you are just using as a base to explore local area then this is a great site. Only second year open for camping so hopefully they can improve the surface of the meadow.
This is the only thing that would stop us from returning. One more thing – take plenty of jungle formula as the site is surrounded by dykes and the Mozzies are plentiful.

We visited this site for 4 nights in June. We were charged £20 per night for 4 of us in 3 tents which seemed fair.
The site has 2 areas, the field, which is not really a big open space, but has lots of trees and shrubs giving individual pitching areas, and the woodland. We stayed in the woodland area as it seemed quieter when we arrived. This bit of the site is next to the lane the site is on, and as such there was a small amount of traffic noise, but nothing major. The whole site is reasonably level. Away from the pitches is a lake/pond and several acres to use for walking, playing etc.
The owners were super helpful, walking us around the site to show the pitching areas and advising which were sunny etc.
The stable housing the facilities was clean, and not too far from the pitches. There are 2 washing up sinks, 2 showers and 4 loos. All were beautifully clean. Loo roll, towels and hand soap etc was provided. There was also a fridge/freezer for everyone to use.
Fires allowed anywhere there has been a fire already. Wood and kindling available on site. Just take what you need and pay in the morning if the office is closed.
There was a small shop at the end of the road, and the site is only a short drive from either the coast or Canterbury.
I loved this site and would happily go back again. The perfect mix of lovely facilities (good hot showers) and a quiet site allowing a fire.

Just got back from this very delightful site, a 'real find'.
A lovely setting, with lots of walks to explore and loads of wild life to spot.
Facilities were very clean and well looked after. The owners Ned and Christine were both very helpful and lovely.
Lots of different nooks and crannies to pitch a tent in and in some areas you could have a camp fire. The one thing in the main field it was very bumpy with lots of holes, but as that is my only complaint not bad really!
Brilliant location for the South East of England and very central for many places to visit. Shops are a 5-10 min drive away but as Ned and Christine can order fresh meat from a local butcher and have a supply of fruit and veg, there isn't much more that you would need.
Without a doubt we will be back to visit very soon.

Spent a lovely time there, Christine met us on arrival and was very welcoming. The site was perfect for us. The facilities are clean and tidy. If your after a walking holiday then there a lot of walks in the area, there are beaches nearby (20 minutes). We arrived when the wind was blowing a gale. The Beaches only allow Dog's on certain parts during May and October. Will be going back in June, weather permitting.

This is a really lovely campsite. I'd prefer to keep it a secret getaway but Ned and Christine, the owners, provide far too warm a welcome to allow for that.
Despite a limit of ten tents, the site is huge, flat and attractive so privacy and shelter are easy to find. The setting is remote but good pubs can be walked to in 20-30 minutes.
The wash-up area, loos and showers are basic but clean and they provide a free fridge and washing machine.
Additionally, campfires are allowed in convenient fire pits and logs and kindling are sold on site, as well as fresh, homegrown veg.
It's peaceful, friendly (we kept beer, untouched, in the communal fridge) and there's lots to do locally (good walking; seaside towns and beaches nearby too).
A brilliant site, thoroughly recommended and children seemed to love exploring the thickets and paths all around the site.

I feel like the other reviewer who wrote that they were almost tempted to keep this lovely site a secret! But, like them, I feel that wouldn't be fair.
The location is very close to Canterbury and not far from Herne Bay - two lovely places to visit.
We went in April, taking advantage of the fantastic weather we had for the school Easter holidays.
The lady who owns the site, Christine, is very friendly and relaxed. She happily showed our children around the polytunnels (don't worry, there's only a couple!) where she grows vegetables.
The site is in a beautiful wooded area - some noise from the road nearby, but only owls and foxes to be heard at night. Christine was happy for us to have a campfire - a real bonus (it was chilly at night!)
Converted stables discreetly house two sets of facilities, each with a sink for washing up, washing machine, toilet & shower. Gallons of hot water. Very clean.
There's no shop or play area, but woods for children to roam in 'free-range.' A really chilled, relaxed environment.
Highly recommended. We will be back.
