This is the best camp site we have visited this year the facilities were superb. On arrival beware of the two speed bumps near to the pedestrian entrance to the reception as they are quite severe do not go faster than 3mph as you will damage your car. You are allocated a pitch number on arrival which was easy to find.
The toilets, washing up room and showers were portable cabins which was kept very clean by the efficient cleaners. The weather was very bad on our stay so they had a lot on, cleaning up all the mud etc.
The swimming pool was brilliant one of the best we have used at any holiday camp in this country. This holiday park is brilliant for children with plenty of activities laid on throughout the day & night. There was an excellent entertainment complex too.
The site is well landscaped with a beautifully well stocked fishing lake. The beach is only a short walk away, will be back hopefully with better weather.

Arrived after 5pm had to pick up keys up from bar. Pitch near the portable cabin toilets - when I seen those thought oh no but was well impressed how clean and nice the showers were, also on this bock was disabled toilet and other end was pot wash room.
Downside runs out of loo roll every night and people started using paper towels which could block the loos. Other end of field had a few sloping pitches just the first few, rest of pitches flat.
Ground very hard and we broke a few plastic pegs and struggled to get a few out and broke the peg hook on our mallet!
The other field next door is non electric again this field looked great too. Its a shame they couldn't put steps down to complex from pitches rather than having to walk long way down as we had buggy we couldn't nip over fence like some people did.
Swimming pool was best I've been in on a caravan site. Pool was spongy and not tiled. Struggled to get kids out of pool they loved it! It has baby change in end family change cubicle. £1 returnable for lockers. Soft play next to pool and shop with reasonable prices not hiked up like other park shops.
Bar nice food ok. Entertainment very good, and the room is very nice. Drink prices are reasonable. Beware of little shop that sells kids lighty up things we always have to fork out for these.
Toilets have baby change in men's and women's.
My toddler loved the little park and there is a crazy golf next to it. Theres a kids club through day.
Took a trip to Withensea one morning where there was a Lidl and Poundstretchers for supplies.
All in all prob best site I've visited and will definitely be back as its very good value for money.

Just returned from sand le mere, please find listed my honest review:
Location - a bit remote but everything on site you need and all areas within driving distance.
Facilities - a new 4 million complex will be hard to beat anywhere ! indoor pool, steam room, sauna, gym, cafe, large cabaret room where the entertainment team work tirelessly to keep you and your children entertained throughout the day, bar/meals, pool tables, play area, playing field, crazy golf, arcade, large well stocked fishing lake. Mostly all free or nominal charge and reasonable bar prices.
Only negative - toilet facilities on the camping field. A porta-cabin set up which are cleaned daily, the problem I found was that after you used the showers/toilets/wash hand basins their was nothing provided for you to clean them after use, so, often found to be left in an undesirable condition. No mop, paper towels instead of hand dryer and only three showers in male and female block not enough. I'm sure you get the picture ! a bit more thought in this area and I don't think you will find better value for money anywhere ! would I return, in a shot.

Stayed at Sand-le-mare for 4 nights. 2 adults, 1 teenager and 2 children (both 12). 8 man tent with EHU.
For a 4 night stay the price was very good as this did included passes for all the facilities, the pass is a swipe card that you need with you at all times as it is needed for everything from getting into the pool area to buying a newspaper.
We arrived just after lunch and the receptionist told us where the camping field was located on a map. When you get to the field I suggest you park the car and go to look where your pitch is as they are located so close to each other that if the field is full you will have to work out how to get your car to your pitch.
We drove to our pitch and set up due to the fact the field wasn`t full (60 pitches)and was able to leave the car and trailer next to our tent as this was vacant for the 4 nights we were there. The ground is quite hard so I used rock pegs and would suggest investing in some.
The toilet block is a portable one but was cleaned out every morning at about 11, prior to this it is dirty so we waited and when it had been cleaned used it then. Male and Female blocks had 3 showers (very good) 2 toilets in male, 3 toilets in female, 2 urinals in the males and each had 5 sinks.
The facilities are excellent, swimming pool with sauna and steam room, games area, coffee shop, supply shop for food and papers, bars, playground and soft play area are all new. We had one meal in the bar and the order was messed up so 2 got there meals and the other 3 were waiting about another 45 minutes for theirs, the staff apologised and said the chef read the order wrong, it can happen so not going to make a big issue but it did happen to others as well. There is a chip shop on site but things are cooked to order so be prepared for a long wait there. The site itself is very clean plenty of staff around and maintenance.
If you venture out then avoid Withernsea, its a dump with nothing there, go to Hornsea and visit the Freeport, Bridlington would be the closest place to go if you want a trip to the seaside.
The only thing Withernsea has that are worth a visit are the supermarkets 1 Aldi and 1 Tesco if supplies are needed.
We enjoyed the stay but would we return, No, at least not in a tent. The pitches are too close, no room at all in-between which meant that some ignorant people would walk across your pitch and that meant they would be nearly in your tent. This is a major problem at about 2330 when the bars throw out as people would climb over the fence and be falling over the tent guy ropes and would be noisy with no consideration to others, this is not the sites fault as you cant help who other campers are and how they control their children.
This is the kind of site I would normally avoid as a site with a clubhouse and bars on it you will get noise and people who don't respect others at times, but for a few days its ok as the facilities are excellent and the young ones will love it.
Just remember you cant choose your fellow campers?

We have just returned form a five night stay at sand le mere july 28th to august 2nd. The site it self wes spotless the staff helpful we used the pool once as its new it is very nice but for a heated pool a bit cold.
The site could do with touring wardens as when we checked in we was sent to the wrong part of the touring site and when we found the right part someone was pitch in our plot so it ment another walk down to reception to let them know witch pitch we had pitch on.
The toilets were clean but away from the touring field same as the tap for water and for emptying elsan.
The outdoor play area was nice my kids loved it until some foul mouthed teens who were way to big for it came along and took it over but the staff did move them off it was same in the softplay area hight restriction signs up but nobody to enforce them.
The on site shop is ok for news papers and booze so we went to the tesco in withensea witch is only four miles away to get food.
The beach is ok for a walk and fishing as its too many pebbles to play on. We would return again but in term time it is a nice clean quiet site but I would sooner stay on a haven site

We stayed at Sand le Mere just after the new complex and facilities had opened. Although we weren't there long enough to use the pool it looked clean and modern. There is a small shop stocking basic supplies, a coffee bar, restaurant/cafe and bar with show room with nightly entertainment. Outside was a brand new children's play area and a football pitch (not yet ready). The staff were very friendly and helpful if a little disorganised.
We checked in with our tent and were given a tent pitch number with directions on a map of how to find it. When we arrived at the given pitch someone was already in it. After much confusion we finally found a vacant tent pitch. It was a long way from the toilet block. On the map we were given there was supposed to be a toilet block almost adjacent to our tent but it hasn't been built yet!
I am sure once this is built it will be a super camping field. The toilet and shower facilities available were clean but tired looking and as I mentioned earlier, a long way from our tent and situated on the edge of the static caravan area.
The pot washing area, although clean, was only semi-covered and during the torrential downpour that we encountered we couldn't get to wash our pots because it wasn't worth venturing out.
This site is in the middle of nowhere down some beautiful country roads and you can walk to the beach, although it is not a sunbathing type of beach, and along the coast. Withernsea is about 10 minutes away by car and has a Tesco and Aldi for a larger range of groceries along with a small high street with local shops and a few amusements.
I think once the whole upgrade/update of the site is completed it will be wonderful, but at the minute it is still work in progress.
Also, they weren't very geared up for tents as it was a daily struggle to get the iceblocks refrozen for our coolbox. They didn't have any freezer facilities and the blocks had to be handed to a member of the restaurant staff for them to be frozen in their kitchen freezer!
We will definitely visit this site again, although probably not until next year when all the improvements have finished.

First visit to sand le mere, all complex lovely and clean but with it just opening it should be.
I believe the park was not ready to open for the jubilee weekend because with my visit we had quite a few problems. Firstly we ordered some food we were supposed to have mash potoatoes with steak pie but it came with chips. On the evening in the entertainment bar getting ready for the act to start singing and all equipment went off it took about 30 mins for the act to start.
The next day we went down for breakfast at 10:55am I orderedd a breakfast for my hubby and cereal, toast and jam with 2 coffees the employee who took my order did not know what she was doing and she had to call one of her colleagues over to help her and she said to her something about training on the till. We got our drinks and I got my cereal and at 11:30 we was still waiting for the breakfast and toast, when I went up to see where it is the employee said the the chef had just had a break I could not believe what I had just heard we finally got rest of our breakfast at 11:45, almost 1hr it took from ordering. I understand that they may be teething problems with it all being new but all staff should have full training.
Make sure you take you take enough cash as the park has no cash back or takes cards.

We were on the overspill park which was lovely and quiet. The only down side to this was it was a trek to get fresh water and empty waste water and the elsan point was on the other touring park site which was near reception. The ladies toilets were fine but the gents were not cleaned very often (according to the men in our party).
The positives - it was a lovely walk to the beach which our dogs loved and it stretched for miles. The area was also very nice. Lots of facilities within easy driving distance including a Tesco for groceries.

Found the arrival procedure rather strange, as we arrived after 6pm, the main office/reception was closed. There was a number for the site warden on the wall, who asked us to go to the Mermaid bar.
Given we had not been here before, his directions left something to be desired. Thankfully I walked down as we spotted the touring area to the right and drove straight in there.
The staff at the bar handed me an envelop then left me to it to continue serving.
No advice, directions or anything.
We pitched up on what looked like new pitches, which had EH and water.
These are nice and spacious with plenty of room to park next to.
The only down side to the pitch was the campsite road which we backed on to.
The vehicles seemed to be up and down all night.
Toilet and shower block was a short walk and has 3 showers and 4 toilets in the ladies, with a row of sinks.
No charges for the showers.
Plenty of hot water and while we were there, they were clean, but I will say the touring area was quite empty, so how these would be when busy I'm not sure as we never saw them been cleaned.
The site has play areas and pool as on other reviews, my children, aged 11 and 9, enjoyed them.
They also enjoyed the disco on an evening.
Beach is close by but accessed by scrambling over rocks or walking quite a distance to a slope.
The site does have a small shop, but this sells very little. Take your things with you and shop in the town.
Withernsea is close by, it can be walked to along the cliff path or beach. Care must be taken the on cliff due to the land erosion. The town is quite and doesn't have a lot to offer.
If you want a break and a bit of peace and quite then this site is for you, if you like plenty going on around you and a choice of pubs and bars then I don't think you would like it.
We enjoyed the site and would come back again for a weekend. Not sure I would do a week or two here though.

We took our folding camper to sands le mere in mid august 2011 and stayed for a week. My three children aged 7, 6, 2 loved it! we have booked a holiday for this year too as its now got a new indoor pool.
The beech is a five minute walk Yes it is a bit of a challenge to get onto it but if you are able bodied its not a problem, In fact its fun! The staff are fantastic and helpful the bar is reasonably priced the cafe if good. We drove to Scarborough for a day out it was a 50 mile trip but an easy drive, beautiful scenery I honestly think that everyone who has left a bad review for sands le mere should stay in a hotel as camping is not for them. Or cheer up your on holiday!
