Just had a fantastic week at this site. The facilities are basic but kept very clean by the owners. 24 hour hot water was much appreciated! We have stayed at 2 other sites on the Isle of Wight and this one was by far and away the best one.
The pitches are large and well spaced out, with plently of green areas for the children to play football and ride their bikes. The coastal path goes through the site and it takes minutes to walk down to the gravelly beach. The beach is no good for sandcastles but great for an evening walk.
The site is well situated for exploring the south side of the island, with nowhere more than 45 minutes away. Robin Hill was a good day out and we love the beaches at Shanklin.
We are already planning to visit Chine farm again next year.

We have just come back from our second stay on this site and we love it. The location is second to none - situated on the cliff top with panoramic views in every direction.
You can pitch on the cliff edge if you wish (as we did) and then watch the sun go down over the sea. This however, can become a litte windy but worth it in my book. Or there is another field, very well kept, a little further in which is sheltered and has easier access to the facilities. Hook ups are also available in this area.
You can walk for miles from here. Wonderful if you have a dog. There is access to the beach, albeit steep, just down from the site past the old chalet camp. Here the beach is wonderfully unspoilt and dogs welcome at all times. It is shingle but some sand in places. The coastal path also runs through the site or you can take one of the inland trails into Shorwell and beyond.
Jill, the owner, is very friendly and helpful and keeps the facilities beautifully clean herself, which is greatly appreciated. There are basic provisions available from reception but you need to travel to find a shop. Can recommend the general store at Brighstone and at Chale Green. Lovely tea rooms in both places too. The Crown Inn at Shorwell is also a lovely place to visit.
All in all, a wonderful and unspoilt place to visit and generally used by people who appreciate its special qualities. It caters for all except those wanting loud parties, clubhouses and in house entertainment! Thank goodness!

We went for 2 weeks august 2009, first time to IOW found it a great site, so near the sea you can hear it. Ample pitch sizes. Hot water on tap 24/7. The site is a bit windy but comes with the territory. Try not to get pitched too near the outside as they is a lot of rabbit holes, IOW is riddled with them. Located on the coastal path and plenty of places nearby, Blackgang chine a must for small kids. Highdown Inn in Totland on way to Needles is a must. There is an old Butlins holiday camp next door which is shut and is a must to explore, Hi-de-hi memories come flooding back. Overall a spot on site, a must if you fancy IOW.

As previously said this site is a gem, 2 spacious fields with some shelter & a cliff top field with stunning views especially when the evening sun lights up the bright red beach below.
The pitches are level & quite easy to get pegs into they are also a good size with room to put the car at the side of the tent if you need a bit more wind break.
Water is never far away to the nearest point & the washing & toilet facilities are first class.
We got a cheap over night ferry deal (£22) one way & was told to turn up any time after 7-30 as they would be up, we had the tent pitched & were going out for the day before noon.
The office is over the road facing the gate but there is a small car park for you to pull on to if you need to wait or go to the small shop.
There is nothing in any direction for a mile & a half so its really quiet at night but you have to travel a bit for everything.
The pubs on the island seem to be eating houses that sell beer but there is one called The Waverley that is still a proper pub & really friendly.
Would I recommend this site to a friend, definitely.
Would I return to this site, without hesitation.
A local caravaner who stays here said it was the only site on the island that was firm enough for for heavy units so you wouldn't need dragging out in the wet.
Can I pick fault with this site, only that you have to travel at odd hours so the ferries don't rip you off but that's not their fault.

Chine Farm wow! Talk about value for money, one of the cheapest sites we have stayed on and facilities as good as the most expensive.
Stayed here for 6 days with our family (2 adults 2 kids aged 11 & 13).
One of the best campsites we've stayed on. Just what we like from a campsite, flat field, good toilet/shower and washing up facilities.
Plenty of hot water in the free showers which had adjustable tempertures, and you rarely had to queue for one. They were always clean and well stocked.
Playground for the kids and plenty of space for playing ball games.
Make sure you know how to put your tent up properly as it can get quite windy on the site, which is right by the sea with the coastal path running across the top of the site. Site has access directly to the beach.
Jill and family very welcoming and helpful. Site has small shop selling essentials, and will freeze your cool blocks for 10p each - cool!
Would definitely recommend this site. Only down side, reception and shop across busy main road, but little traffic at night.
Top notch!

We stayed for 8 nights here in mid June.
The site comprised 3 fields between the coast road and the cliff edge. The site was level, with easy ground to peg into. There were several hedgerows which offer some shelter from the wind, this being quite an exposed site. The site was very quiet at night, with no traffic noise, and no parties.
The coast path ran right through the site.
The camp site owners were very friendly and helpful. The sanitary block was always clean and well stocked with soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
There was a small children's play area, and lots of room to run around. There was no beach access from the campsite.
Hot water was always available, and the showers were free and not timed.
A small shop at reception supplied a few basic food supplies, confectionery, and tea & coffee.
For anything else there was an excellent shop/post office/deli/cafe/recycling centre at Chale Green, about 3 miles north east.
The charges were very reasonable, at £4 per tent plus £2 each person.
We enjoyed spectacular sunsets, and great views out to sea. There were goldfinches in the bushes, and bats flying around at dusk. A great site.

I spent one night at this campsite while solo walking the Isle of Wight Coastal Path. The campsite is directly on the line of the coastal path at OS grid SZ 445 801 on the OS Outdoor Leisure Map 29, so was very easy to find.
Nice, level, cliff top site with thoughtfully provided windbreaks providing shelter from the stiff onshore breeze! It was the end of the holiday season, so was very quiet with only three other tents and about a dozen assorted caravans and motor homes. I'd walked all day, around 15 miles in pouring rain, so was tired, cold and more than a little cheesed off by the time I got to the campsite, but being charged only £5.00 for the night with access to unlimited hot water in the showers cheered me up no end. I spent about 20 minutes under the hot water getting warmed right through!
The male toilet/shower block was in good order and pretty clean, with three good sized shower cubicles, three toilet cubicles, six washbasins and three or four urinals. I can't speak about the ladies facilities as I didn't look in them!
Attached to the same building is a washing up area, with two good sized sinks with hot and cold water. Good for washing up dirty dishes and even for hand washing clothing, although you'll have to set up your own washing line somewhere.
There's a very small shop for basic provisions in the site office/reception which is just over the main road from the campsite.
All in all, a very good site that I'd be happy to use again.

Lovely small site. Ideal for our family of four for our late summer holiday few days. We had a simple pitch with no electricity, and it was a very reasonable £12 a night, or £3 each !
Shower/loo/wash areas were basic and reasonably clean with reasonable amounts of hot water in the ladies and good amounts in the gents.
We pitched at the south end, close to the cliffs, and it was very quiet and felt pleasantly 'remote' from the rest of the site. It was still only a 1 minute to walk to the shower block and wash up area.
A small play area and big field for football type activities was available nearer the shower block. We were happy with our natural clifftop surroundings, close mown grass was ideal for kids on their bikes, and views along the coast and out to sea. It was a bit windy on our first night there, but that is a feature of this southern coast and our tent put up with it well.!
Owners were great, friendly but not too pushy - we are very much the 'at arms length' type campers and like to do our own thing. The site shop and reception area sells essentials like milk, cereal, bread etc and you can hire coolpacks.
We will be very happy to use the site again when we go back to the IoW.

Very good showers and hot water provision. Friendly and hard working owners ensure all parts of site clean and working. Children enjoyed new play equipment and the acres of space for games. Genuinely quiet at night, although occasional noise from bikers with a death wish speeding along the Military Road during the day. Fortunately we were sheltered by substanital hedgerow during extremely windy weather. Excellent drainage avoided any mud, in spite of heavy downpours. Right on the coast, although beach rather disappointing (although owners helpfuly pointed this out prior to booking.) Greatest plus point is the great value for families - large tent plus family of 6 at £14 per night is the amount I expect to pay, rather than over £30 quoted for campsites in the same area with similar facilities.

Our family of four (including two children aged 3 and 6) stayed for ten days in August.
Facilities are basic but given the prices paid, the site was clean, well-kempt and great value for money. Hot water, for example, was always available in the shower block and the loos were always stocked with loo roll. Jill sells food including fresh eggs from reception and offers a bargain laundry service.
Our kids loved the little play area, with a giant sand pit, swings etc. Our stay saw some inclement weather (particularly high winds) but this never affected our enjoyment. The owners are making improvements all the time and were incredibly helpful, cleaning tirelessly, patrolling to make sure everything was okay. At the most extreme, they were on site battening down the hatches when the weather was at it's worst.
The site is well located, a very short drive from Blackgang Chine and Ventnor. But hey, it's the Isle of Wight, you're never far away from anywhere!
When we go back to the island, we will stay there again and I wish the owners the very best with the business.
