A great site overlooking the sea, hills, and Mwnt.

Plenty of space for children to play.

Limited showers and toilets which might be a problem if the campsite is full, though very clean and well-cared for site and friendly staff;

We will happily stay again!

 Beautiful location, good facilities.

When we went (Mon 12-July) the site was very quiet and there was plenty of space all round.

We heard that it was busy on the previous weekend, but we very much enjoyed the peace and space of our visit.

First time staying here, recommended by a friend. Stayed in our campervan & awning, 2 adults, our 7 year old son and 2 dogs.

Ty Gwyn is such a beautiful site with the most amazing views. The site was very quiet when we stayed, which was perfect for us. We were on pitch T2 which is in the field with the static caravans. We also had a picnic table on our pitch which was such a lovely addition, for breakfast in the morning.

The toilet and shower block was close to our pitch, it was very basic, but was very clean and cleaned regularly throughout the day. Shower was lovely and hot.

Very short walk to the beautiful Mwnt beach. Beach is lovely for families with children as it is in a small cove. Only disadvantage was that it is not dog friendly during peak season. Lovely coastal walks nearby. Short drive to Cardigan Town.

Site owners were very friendly and leant us a 25m EHU lead as our 10m was too short.

We'll definitely be returning to this lovely site 😊

Really don't want this to be a slating review as the owners of the site are lovely, the location of the site is lovely however. For the price which is on a par with all other sites we have stayed on (so maybe that is where we went wrong as we were used to a certain standard of facilities), this review is more to make others aware so they don't have the surprises we did. I am not saying don't visit this site because the views are to die for, but know what you are getting in advance so you can plan.

Just as a side note - there was a large group (about 10-15 units) who always book the same time each year, they take up the whole front row overlooking the sea and quite rightly so, have a jolly good time, but as you can imagine this did put a strain on resources on site and noise levels.

Access - Completely my own fault as I should have googled the location and perhaps phoned the owners and asked, but it is a single track road of about 1 mile in length with twists and turns. There are a couple of pull in places, but they are no use to a caravan. So it is a case of take a chance and hope you don't meet another caravan. Obviously cars can reverse with ease, not so easy with a van on the back. Also there is one s bend which anything bigger than our van may struggle with (our van is 23' in length).

There is one newish toilet facility and one that came out of the Arc on the site, these facilities are in two separate locations. However, there are only 2 toilets and 1 shower in each. There was a disabled shower and toilet however this was locked not long after we arrived due to the toilet flush being broken. Such a shame as it was the only decent shower on the site.

Now, none of the above would have been an issue if. There was actually enough water pressure to shower! For the first week you didn't know whether you were getting any water at all. So rather disappointing really. The fault was reported to the owners and they kindly said we could use the 'other block'. Well not sure that would pass any H&S checks! Disgusting is the only word for them. However, when you are desperate for a shower it's amazing what you will put up with. In the owners defence they did try to rectify the water pressure problem and by the second week you got slightly more of a dribble of water more like a trickle.

The other problem we had, which considering the price per night we were paying (£26) was it was pot luck if there was any loo roll. Obviously not a problem once you realise this and take your own, but as you can imagine there were times when you just didn't think and you have to make a return trip for loo rolls of your own!

There are no separate washing facilities so the sinks (small sinks) that are used by those leaving the toilets to wash their hands are what you also have to use to wash/brush your teeth in! There are only 2 of them so again, you inevitably end up queuing to either brush your teeth or wash your hands.

There is one sink for washing up, this has been put at such a height that any adults washing up normally adopted a crooked stance and an even bigger one when walking away from the sink until their back was able to straighten again. One camper did say that perhaps it was a sink for disabled use. All well and good and great to be inclusive, but. Inclusive also means to include the able bodied! Not only that, the location of the sink would of made it near on impossible for anyone in a wheelchair to access it anyway.

The only other thing that was a let down was the fact that when we arrived the grass on our pitch was already 4' long so you can imagine the length around the van and awning by the end of 2 weeks. Now most likely purely coincidence but we were visited by grass snakes. Just saying

What a site! the drive down was a bit tight but locals seemed used to reversing, then while on site a 15 ton Winnebago arrived so don't worry about access unduly and the rewards are well worth it.

This site is literally on the coast path, the southern side is recently opened and one land owner is refusing access so the path deviates onto agricultural land and then a downhill road to the village where a pint and food awaits. The northern walk to Aberporth also has a hill and road to walk down but the beaches there are also clean and safe with lifeguards present and also a pub.

If you want to extend your day there is the 'caddy bus' which will take you back from various coastal towns to Mwnt, but be aware not on Thursdays.

I only used the showers on site and found the newer block clean and the shower is a power shower so very refreshing.

This is a working farm so don't expect an office and a warden to tend to your needs! but the family is very friendly and the 'dad' is very interesting to talk to. The beach at Mwnt is very clean and safe with well maintained steps and a shop at the top but be aware dogs are not allowed on the beach.

The last point to make is the sunsets are dramatic

'Oh my goodness'. This quote was used on many occasions during our 1 day stay here. It was used whilst driving on the tiny lanes, on the allocation of pitch up on the hill, on the chock situation, on the views, on the beach, on the view of the sunset, on the way out, but oh my goodness you must do it! Stunning, scenic & truly thrilling. Amenities were very clean in the new block & the showers were great. As a worrier I would advise you put extra blocks in front of the rear wheels and have a large glass of something strong if you sleep in an overhead cab. Brilliant situation, not for the faint hearted !

This is probably one of the best camp sites for the views. The drive down with a large caravan was a little hairy at times but well worth it. The site is clean and well kept, as in a previous comment the water would occasionally go off, but you are camping so what! Yes toilet paper does run out by lunch time but we always take some as this happens on a lot of camp sites not just this one. We found that the owners are very friendly and helpful, they do have a presence but presume that they want you to have a relaxing holiday and do not chase you round taking money off you, not like some sites that you cannot enter until you have paid. Will determinately be going back again

We returned here this year after a wonderful stay here last year. This year, however, was a bit of a disappointment.

The actual location was, as usual, wonderful. Right on the coastal path allowing for great walks, close proximity to lots of attractions and Cardigan for all your needs and the wonderful beach at Mwnt.

However, this year there were far more people on site and this lead to issues with water and amenities. At certain points every day the water would go off in the taps and showers, leaving people unable to wash/shower. Showering was already an issue as there were so many people on site this year that the one shower per sex in the main shower block was insufficient. There is another shower up by the static caravans but this is not common knowledge. When you did get water, unless you were up with the lark, it was quite often freezing cold! Toilet paper had always run out by mid-morning, though as seasoned campers we always took our own just in case. The paper was replenished in the evening and the toilets and showers were very clean with plenty of soap.

At no point did the owners introduce themselves or come around to the tents to discuss arrival, departure or even have a conversation. It was up to us to find them so that we could pay! Though we did see them cleaning the toilets and once saw them and their lovely chocolate labs on the camping field.

I feel that the owners need a much greater presence on the campsite and that facilities need to be improved if they plan to continue offering pitches to this number of people.
