Just returned from a lovely stay at this beautiful site. It is quiet and rural, surrounded by wonderful countryside. It's an ideal spot for exploring the entire north west Wales peninsular. We found towing to it to be the trickiest bit. Our advice would be to follow route 2 on the email Gwenan sends you! There are excellent facilities, very clean and well kept. The honesty shop is perfect and has all those essentials you may have forgotten, from batteries to cheese! Our stay had some pretty heavy rain, but we were pitched by the farmer and his 4x4 and helped off by the other caravanners, as we don't have a 4x4! Having said that the pitches drain really quickly and if we'd had another 24 hours without rain we would have been fine. The only suggestion I would make is a little heater in the immaculate family shower room, it can get a bit chilly at first. A fabulous site. We hardly go to the same place twice (that's why we have a tourer!) but there's so much to do here that I would stay here again.

Cefn Cae is a lovely small campsite, set in the picturesque village of Rowen. It has great facilities, and you are made to feel very welcome by Gwenan and her family during your stay. The location is ideal for visiting Conwy and Llandudno. Bodnant Garden is just a short drive away, and well worth a visit at any time of the year. Surf Snowdonia too, just a few miles away, provides a great indoor soft play area for young children, whilst adults can enjoy a drink in the light and airy cafe overlooking the splash lagoon! A great choice for a rainy day!
We will definitely be returning to Cefn Cae.

Don't go here if you need the noise and razmataz of a big bustling site, or can't sleep without the endless drone of traffic noise. BUT, if you love countryside, views and walking, you are happy to be lulled to sleep by sheep or owls, and you want a bit of your own 'space in the country' with a friendly welcome and an excellent pub round the corner, this is for you. Very well maintained site, well drained grass pitches, lovely owners, well kept facilities (two 'family bathrooms' plus two extra toilets), washing up sink, laundry facilities and freezer space all in the barn together with an honesty shop for those forgotten essentials - and ice creams! You might have to wait for a shower if the site is full of tents, but pick your time right and enjoy the views while you wait! Hope to be back!

Lovely site. Showers and toilets in the barn. Groceries - if you have run out of anything there's most things there with a honesty box to pay. Everything you need on a site - peace quiet lovely views plenty of walks. Local people made a point of talking to you. Location ideal for Conwy and surrounding area. Didn't know it had not been running long until I read reviews on website but it's a credit to them they have thought of everything.

Our second visit, so obviously good to our taste. Just re-posting to say that unfortunately the village shop owners have retired and it is now closed, so stock up before you arrive. Gwenann has put an honesty box shop on the site stocking milk, eggs, cheese, yogurts, tinned goods, pasta, sweets and bread rolls. No fresh veg or meat understandably, so shop before you arrive!
Would love to to be able to buy the shop and move to lovely Rowen!

I admit that ahead of our visit, I had become nervous that this site was too small.
We stayed in our large tent, with our two children for the last week of August, and we have nothing but the highest praise.
For the last few miles of the journey we got a sense of the surrounding beauty and the tucked away feel of the small villages. Rowen village is particularly pretty, as is the drive into the campsite.
Gwenan met us and showed us the facilities barn and where to pitch - we had plenty of room. It feels friendly rather than small, they don't accept too many units, the field is really big with pleny of room for a few families to be playing different ball games and not be in each other's way. It absolute doesn't have that large commercial/business feel to it, perfect for us.
The facilities barn has everything you could possibly need. The shower rooms are enormous, with a proper shower cubicle, toilet and sink in each room, and there are a couple of separate loos. The pot washing station, really well stocked shop and 'kitchen' is also in the barn. Now I say kitchen; there is a fridge, freezer (with a supply of marker pens) and microwave for anyone to use, a washing machine and dryer can also be used for a small charge. There is a large selection of leaflets and local walks.
Conwy is only about a 15 minute drive and is stunning with its imposing castle. Llandudno, about 20 minutes by car has large supermarkets should you need them. There is so much to do nearby, we only scratched the surface.
The walks from the site are well detailed and easy to follow. There is a pleasant walk to the nearby pancake house.
Gwenan, the owner, deserves all the fabulous reviews and awards. She is just lovely, and spreads cheerfulness every day.
We will be back next year without doubt. It's too good not to. Oh, and everyone I chatted to had stayed there before - that speaks volumes!

We visited in a tent with a toddler, and had a non-electric pitch. The non-electric pitch is a little distance from the bathrooms but the grass was beautifully kept and I liked that the tents pitched around the outside and the inner of the field was used for children to play - made watching the toddler easy.
The owner is lovely and nothing is too much trouble - and the facilities were cleaned very regularly throughout the day. The facilities are in a barn-like building and there is one male and one female toilet just next to the fridges and microwave - so if you are a bit shy about going to the loo this might not be the site for you! there are two family shower rooms, and the water was great and hot and a mop for cleaning with afterwards. Perhaps could do with one of those folding stools for small children to use to be able to reach taps when cleaning teeth.
This is the kind of site where everyone chats to you and it is very peaceful indeed. There is a small shop on site that has an honesty box to pay which I thought was lovely.
This site is very close to Conwy which is very dog-friendly - lots of shops and places to eat where dogs are welcome.
We recommend the copper mines at the Great Orme as a good trip out.
Overall we would certainly visit such a peaceful and friendly site again.

Fantastic site. Not much more to say than the other great reviews. Large, clean, scenic site. Great for those with kids, I spied not only goal posts and BB net but a big out door activity/games box. Facilities were great and kept clean. Two toilets and two spacious family rooms which inc shower toilet and sink with comfortable decor (not the standard cold concrete floors and brick walls). If there was one reason I'd go back its the hot showers! Washing up area within the barn like complex with washing machine, dryer, microwave and kettle. Lots of local info via posts leaflets and books inc info on local walks. Owner / manager was lovely and friendly.
Although expecting to be bad, the weather turned out ok. Windy at its worst. Set Within a pleasant small quiet village. Great award wining pub, small local shop for conveniences groceries etc. A more 'classy' hotel / inn not far, on the outskirts on main road. Site is Convenient for reaching places within north side of Conwy valley and North Coast Wales. And a lot less midges than other sites I've been too!

This is the best site we have visited in North Wales. There is a warm welcome, two large well-kept fields, peace, excellent walks, outstanding views, a pub with good food and a shop within a short walk and spotless facilities. These consist of two spacious family shower/toilet rooms, two toilets with washbasins, dishwashing sink, washer, dryer, fridge/freezers and a micro-wave!
If you need help (or a chat) the owners are more then happy to oblige. However, if your wish is to quietly get on with enjoying your holiday they do not encroach on your peace.
We have taken our motorhome to North Wales at least once a year for the past twenty-odd years. We have stayed at many campsites all over the area but Cefn Cae is definitely the best! We originally booked for 5 nights at the end of May 2015 but we liked it so much we stayed for our full two week holiday and have also booked for the same two weeks next year. Can't wait to go back!

Well this is the first time we have stayed at a CS site and it certainly won't be the last!
We stayed at this wonderful little site the 2nd week in May and will definitely go back.
I know previous reviews have mentioned the facilities, but they really are great. The barn housing the toilets and showers is a lovely big place with more than ample clean and well kept facilities.
The barn also has a washing machine, tumble dyer, microwave and pot washing sink, so is geared for all types of campers. Also the tourist information is in the barn as well, a range of walks from the village or the site, sample menus of the pub etc.
There weren't any children staying there during our visit but there was ample room on the field next to the main camping area for them to play safely.
As for the area. Well. There is just so much to do we just have to go back, Conwy is beautiful and interesting, llandudno is a really nice traditional seaside town with added extras like the Great Orme, the happy garden, the cable car etc. There are numerous walks from easy going to proper hikes-its just fabulous. And to top it off, the owners are lovely and friendly and helpful and the site was so quiet-just the sound of the sheep baa-ing. Oh and the wind! Beware if high winds are forecast the site can get really windy-but its not a problem if you're prepared!
Anyway I go on forever about this site, but try it for yourself-go!
