We have just returned from a week at this site. We booked last minute and went to this site because it was the cheapest and the only one that was walking distance to the beach.
We thought we got very good value for money. For a static site its quite small but it had all the facilities. The pools were great - clean warm and not too busy. The playground was ok for younger kids - there is a better one on the walk into Woolacombe. We went to the entertainment a couple of times and again it was fine for the younger ones (under 10). I was surprised how quiet the site was as it was peak season. The final thing to comment on was the service. I thought it was fantastic. The lady who I spoke to to book it was very pleasant and they let us go into our caravan as soon as it was ready rather than making us wait until 4. Every member of staff who I came across was very friendly and helpful. Please note this site is steep and not for the infirm but the camping pitches did look flat.

Just got back from a 4 day break with my family. This site has something to offer everyone with a family with its swimming pool's, club house and well stocked shop which even has a bake and bite for fresh bread etc.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. The toilet block's were clean and never without loo roll.
The surrounding's are only what I can call outstandingly beautiful, Woolacombe beach is a joy, get yourself a wetsuit and surf board and have a go surfing.
There is a lack of a supermarket in the nearby area but load's of shop's to pick up bit's and pieces.
The only real down side to the area and site is that it is very hilly.

Just arrived back from a fantastic week at this site - weather perfect. Busy first couple of days (end of Easter break) then very quite. Superb views overlooking woolacombe beach, all staff very friendly & helpful, facilities spotless & evening entertainment brill especially for the little ones. We were on spacious hard standing & were told on arrival to pitch whichever way you want. Footpath to beach takes about 15 mins depending whereabouts you are on park (very big) & if you have youngsters. Bake 'n' bite shop a little pricey but sold everything you need. Only gripe was ladies shower's water luke warm & extreme pressure in a couple of them, I was nearly washed away! but we only paid £54 for the week (2 adults + 2yr old) who could complain about anything for that price! Will definitely go again out of season though as summer prices pretty expensive.

We stayed here for three nights during the Easter holidays and had good sunny, mild weather. The staff are friendly and the check-in was quick and efficient. We were surprised to find that the site is built into the side of a very steep hill and it was a little nerve-wracking to drive our motorhome in and out, particularly when cars parked close to the shop and reception. Pitches were terraced and gravelled - not particularly picturesque but the views across the valley and over to the sea were stunning. There was no way we could easily take water on - most motorhomers resorted to filling plastic containers. There was only one water pipe along our 'avenue' and you couldn't put a hose attachment on. The grey waste disposal area was very close to the launderette and almost impossible to get a motorhome over - our pipe was on the wrong side for doing this on the way out. The toilet and shower blocks were large and mostly empty when we visited. The showers were small and your clothes/towel can get a bit wet - particularly as the water pressure is very fierce. My younger daughter (10) found it painful to have a shower! The water was warm, never hot. Toilets were ok and clean. The hairdryers didn't work in our shower block and there were no power points for straighteners etc. There didn't seem to be any recycling bins anywhere - very surprising. We only went to the clubhouse once. The girls (13 & 10) enjoyed playing the bingo and having a bit of a dance. The entertainment was ok, a singer who essentially was doing karoake to a backing track. The indoor pool was good, very warm and clean. It took about 10-15 minutes to walk to the town/beach, walking through a couple of fields and this does appear to be the closest site to the town. It was a lovely walk although I expect it can get muddy during wet weather. Riding stables just around the corner from the campsite. We paid £20 per night including EHU which we felt was very good for all the facilities available; however brochure suggests this goes up to about £45 per night in the peak season. We prefer smaller quiet sites and the club/entertainmnent is not really for us so we probably wouldn't come again.

Just returned from Easter weekend break at Woolacombe Sands.
The check in was quick and staff very friendly. We had a fully serviced pitch with gravel hardstanding. Pitch was very large and terraced with fantastic views out to Lundy Island.
Whole site was very clean and easy access to toilet and shower blocks. These were clean on most occasions. Showers weren't overly hot but did the job.
The shop was adequately stocked with added bonus of freshly baked croissants and bread each morning or for ultimate treat, breakfast baguettes, which were reasonably priced.
The clubhouse was full each evening but not to bursting which was nice. Drinks were priced as you would expect in most pubs. Food is served for eat in or takeaway. Be warned though it is overpriced, we paid £24 for 2*burger and chips and 2*sausage/egg/chips and beans. I would advise eating before you go to the club house if you choose to visit. Cash bingo played each night which was fun, kids can play as long as they are with an adult. Entertainment was provided each night, extremely cheesy but good fun if you take it for what it is.
Also on site, 2 very clean pools (1 indoor/1 outdoor), plus arcade and crazy golf.
Easy 15 minute walk down to beach which was lovely (weather fantastic when we stayed)
We really enjoyed our break. Site lovely, area beautiful and the staff were fantastic, helpful and friendly. Would definitely return.

I have just returned from a week at Woolacombe Sands with my 2 children. The weather for most of the week was pretty atrocious so we were all grateful for the facilities that they had on offer. If the weather was poor we were able to swim in the indoor swimming pool, if the weather was dry but chilly then we still managed to swim in the outdoor pool which was as warm as a bath.
The standard of facilities varies depending on where you are pitched, but all blocks seemed clean, the showers were always hot and there were even hairdryers available. Just be warned - the site is terraced and tents seem to be allocated pitches near the bottom of the hill meaning that you have a pretty vertical climb when you need to use the facilities. We found a great block that was surrounded by statics and caravans and which seemed to be empty all the time. It also had a huge family shower which meant that I could get me and the kids clean nice and easily.
Elsewhere on the site, there is a shop which supplies all of your basic needs, but which also offers croissants, pan au chocolat, hot bacon and sausage rolls etc. A laundrette with tumble driers (thank God!) was also well-used!
The main club house has a bar which serves food (chips with most things) that is fairly pricey, but which is cooked quickly and is served in substantial portions. We found this a life-saver after days of rain which sapped your will to cook in the evening.
It was also great to know that however wet the day had been, from 6.15 there was entertainment for the children courtesy of Woolly Bear. Every night there was a full programme of fun and games, sometimes there were entertainers, dancing competitions etc. It also gave me time to relax with a drink and watch the kids enjoy themselves.
Overall, I would say that whilst this site might not be everyone's cup of tea, I found it a great way to guarantee that my children were able to have a holiday full of fun despite not being able to get to the beach every day. When we did go to the beach, it was also great to be able to walk there in 10-15mins, rather than queue in traffic for 20 nand then pay £6.50 for parking! It also meant that I did not have to drive around looking for pricey activities on rainy days. I would definitely go again - in fact, my children have already started nagging me.

We have visited this site in Devon several times and think it is wonderful. We tried one of the bigger sites a couple of years ago, and we thought Woolacombe Sands was far better. It is only a small family run site, but it suits us - it is near to the sea - 10-15 minute walk away, and has some reasonable entertainment on during the evenings. Now there is no smoking in the club, it is even better. They start the evening with something for the toddlers/kiddies around 6.15pm (Woollie bear), then they have 3 games of bingo. Our kids (now 14 and 12) love it, as they can play bingo too and our eldest was over-joyed when he had a win this Easter! You can't win loads (max we have found was £150), but it's enjoyable. They then have either a commedian or singer on for about an hour, and our sides ached laughing at 'Baron Von Schmidt Haussen' this time.
We usually hire one of the static caravans, and have always found them to be very clean and have everything you need, including central heating in some of them! The views from the caravans is spectacular and we have many photos of the sunsets going down on the horizon with Lundy Island in the distance - beautiful! The shop is a little expensive, but we either bring the majority of our food with us, or visit the Tesco store in Barnstaple en-route to Woolacombe; we only buy emergency stuff from the store. Because we usually visit Easter or Oct half term break, we haven't tried the outdoor pool, but the indoor one, we have always found it to be clean and our boys enjoy it. We would recommend this family friendly site highly - we always enjoy it!

We arrived after a 12hr trip thanks to the flooding in Worcester . After going to reception we were directed to Bottom meadow. It does not mention in brochure that it is about a one in six incline down to the meadow. The pitches were clearly marked but after all the rain the ground was saturated. So after putting the awning and other equipment in place we were squelching in mud and this is how it was for the rest of the week. The road through the meadow can best be described as a track which turned into a steam when it was raining. To get to the toilet block you had to cross about 4ft width of grass which by now was sodden so when you came out of the shower and got back to your van you had muddy feet. The showers were very cramped there is no room to sit all you have is a shelve about4 inches by12 inches to put you shower things on about one foot from the door is a curtain. They are not very clean and the pressure would blow your head off. There was no hose pipe in the elesn point to rinse the toilet cassette out(this was rectified after a complaint to reception) The toilet block seems very dated and needs modernizing. The out side and inside pools are very good but there is a lack of changing rooms(2at the inside pool)and showers . The conservatory is very nice but if you want any food or drink in the daytime you have to contend with a vending machine. It is the only site we have been on where the bar is closed in the day time. They advertise childrens activites and wolley bear but this is only at night. We were there on the fist week of the main holidays it was very wet and miserable I know this is not the sites staffs fault but unlike other sites in the area nothing was done to help. They should have closed the bottom meadow and put us on the drier ones farther up the site I and my family will not be coming to north devon again

Woolacombe sands is the very best campsite we've been to. The pools are protected from sneaky people from using them and the bar is great! But there is one thing, the food cost is a bit dear. The entertainment is both great for children and adults. Tank Sherman was my favourite entertainer because his comedy jokes were so funny! Woolly bear is very nice and CUDDLY! Small children just love him. This place is great for any kind of family because it has everything you would want, the sea view, the entertainment and the arcade. (The toilets are acceptable.) We well and truly love this place but as we are about 7hrs away from it we couldn't do that sort of journey again.

We have been coming to this campsite since my daughter was 6years old and now she is 23 and comes here on her own. We love it and although we do go to other sites for a change, this is the best one and we always have a good holiday here. To sit outside the caravan and admire the view on a hot sunny day is just the best.
