What a fantastic campsite, what more could you ask for. Lady on reception lovely, she knew who we were after only meeting her the once.
Well stocked shop for all your basic needs, bar was good. Toilet block clean at all times, always hot water, hairdrying room a lovely touch.
We thought the site was a very reasonable price for the week. Plenty of room for a game of rounders, zip wire and playground was great. We played golf at Berryfields site next door, very nice people the food looked good although we didn't have any.
Beaches were amazing, all easy to get too, the surf was great.
There is a bus just down the hill, which took us into Padstow, which was great as it was a double decker so could see all the views.
The pub just down the road (Treada inn) was great the food was fantastic.
I could go on and on, we would 100% consider going back again.

We have been to Carnevas every year for the last 15 years!
We absolutely love this place although may be being slightly biased as have great memories as a child and my children now love it!
It is very equipped with laundry (essential with bad weather!), hair drying room, Shop, Pub, Play area and gas facilities.
The shower blocks are always well kept and the family bathrooms are superb with a half bath, great for kids when showering is just not an option!
Just minutes walk from porthcotharn, 2 miles from Treyarnon and the Tredea Inn just down the hill it is great for all age groups. Some lovely cliff top walks too.
Reasonably priced and dogs welcome it is a must stay at caravan park!

Our favourite campsite in the UK.
Very large, very friendly and has everything you need for a great camping holiday, with or without kids.
Have been coming back to Carnevas since the 90's. Caroline and the family are always so welcoming. The improvements to the toilet and shower blocks are brilliant (think that was at least 2-3 years ago) and includes a couple of family shower rooms / bathrooms which is great when you have little kids. For this you need to get the code from the office, that means that it stays pretty clean for all but the busiest of weekends.
The Jolly Roger pub is friendly and serves good Cornish beer - Doom Bar or Tribute usually (sometimes both).
Depending on the time of year and how busy it is there are 3 fields for use. At busy times, when booking Caroline will put a 'reserved' sign out but most times we are allowed to camp wherever we like (though this is usually dictated by whom we are joining!)
There is a kid's playground which has a zip slide, tyre swing, dino slide and regular swings. Also a field with a couple of goal posts next to it which gets well used!
In all the years being here I've never tried the cream teas or crazy golf at Berrylands next door, but we have spent large amounts of time and money in the Tredrea - a great bar which has seen a few changes. Usually can get some live music on a weekend and this usually draws a few locals as well as holidaymakers! The food is pretty good here, similar to the Jolly Roger in that it is good honest pub grub, realistically priced.
Porthcothan bay is a short walk down the hill (though you do have to walk along the road, no pavements here so keep hold of your kids / pets). Great walk down to a fabulous beach with cliffs on both sides. The tide can go quite a long way out which leaves a few rock pools and caves. Good for body boarding and surfers alike.
Coming out of the campsite and turning right instead will lead you down to Treyarnon bay. This used to be a great beach with the Treyarnon Bay Hotel presiding over it. Was possible to get beer and food from here but sadly this has made way for holiday apartments. Still a good beach for playing on but take your own drink!
Parking is available at both beaches, for a fee! This is a flexible fee at Treyarnon depending on whether it is a BH or not!
Can't wait to go back, will be there for most of the BH week!

It is 3 years since we last visited this campsite, and it was as good as ever. The toilet/shower facilities have all been upgraded since our last visit. There is everything you could need on this site, a small shop which offers a useful service of freezer block loans! A small pub/restaurant. No blaring disco!
There are separate family and disabled bathrooms and a hairdrying room.
On our arrival we were offered a choice of pitch, which we were taken to by Caroline, and as we had dogs, took one in the top corner of one of the fields which also gave us excellent protection against the wind.
We offered to pay on arrival but they were more concerned that we got our tent up and sorted first.
Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for this lovely family run site. It seems to strike the right balance, large enough to have all the facilities but not too big. We definitely did not feel packed in.
I would not hesitate in recommending this great site and look forward to returning, hopefully next year.

We have just come back from a weeks stay at Carnevas and we highly recommend this site. The owners are very helpful and the facilities are kept very clean and as well as free hot showers, there are also 2 bathrooms specifically for families with small children which have a shower over a small bath, a toilet and a wash basin inside. There is also a great hairdrying room as well as a roomy washing up area & launderette. The shop on site was reasonably priced in comparison to the local village shops in St Merryn and they operate an ice pack system where you pay a deposit for an ice pack and then pay 20p to swap it for another frozen one as and when required. The camp site is fairly isolated but the beach at Porthcothan Bay is great for families - shop with hot food and lifeguard and toilets in the car park. The play area on the site was very popular with our children and shut at 9pm to minimise noise nuisance for campers nearby. The site is quite large and we were lucky to be near the facilities as quite a few people drove from the outer fields to the toilets, especially in the rain, so I would recommend an electric hookup to get a more central pitch.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights whilst walking part of the coastal path. We liked the site which is large and well maintained. They were quite quiet (a week before summer holidays)and there appeared to be lots of caravans that were not currently in use that are parked on site perminantly.
Toilets / showers / washing up / laundry facilities were clean and of a very good standard. The shop is fairly well stocked, but quite expensive as you would expect. The bar is open every evening and we ate in their once. Simple bar food but tasty, quick servic and reasonably priced. A pool table in the bar and aslo in the games room (open all day) was a nice suprise. Fields are slightly slopping, but as was not busy found somewhere flat easily. Large play area for kids
Staff were helpful, and a weather forcast posted on office door every a.M. We got them to freeze our ice packs, although I never quite established if they usually provide this service or not.
Is slightly off the beaten track. 10-15 min up hill walk from beach at porthcoffan, although the hourly Newquay- Padstow bust stops about 5 mins from site (opposite Treadrea Inn) if you hail it down. We did not visit thye Inn or the local 'pantry' sefving luches and cream teas and a crazy golf course- both looked nice and are within 5 mins.
Would be happy to return here again

Stayed at Carnevas for the first time this year and we were very impressed. Great facilities, large pitches and plenty of space for the kids to move about including a large play park. Didn't use the on site eating place so can't comment but was impressed with the shop facilities, toilet and showers were immaculate and the overall help from the owners was great. The only down side was the weather which unfortunately was beyond anyone's control. A beautiful beach is a matter of 10 minutes walk away and Padstow is a 10 minute drive away so ideally located. Would go again and hope for better weather next time!

We have camped here several times, the last time being August 2007. Each time we have stayed here (always holidays) it has been busy. I mean really busy. Like they try to cram more people in than necessary just to make a bit of extra cash. The campsite is not cheap either & always require a deposit up front.
As a mum of two small children I never felt safe letting them potter around here like I have on other sites. This is really a shame though as this campsite is geared up to children with excellent family bathrooms, play area, on-site shop with lots of little bits and pieces for kids to spend their pocket money on.
This site is not very well located either (if you have small children). The beaches are a fair walk away and there is no town for miles. You end up having to drive everywhere.
This site may be better 'off season' but I would suggest avoiding it in holidays, especially bank holidays.

After a hard day touring and sightseeing we ended up in Padstow (which is lovely), stuck a pin in the map and decided to stay here at the last minute for one night. We were very pleasantly surprised. Facilities were modern and clean. Bar and restaurant great. Nice atmosphere. Kids enjoyed the park. Staff friendly and helpful. There's a lot to be said for family run sites! Only negatives - a bit off the beaten track, a tad windy and the whole site is sloping but otherwise great value for money and we'd have no hesitation recommending this site to family and friends.

We came back from a 4 day holiday in a tent at the end of May. I would like to thank Carloline for the great help and for being so polite and helpful on our stay. The weather was awful but we stuck with it and had the best camping holiday ever! the Ammenities were always clean and tidy and supply of hot water in the showers were lovely! the Jolly Roger Pub was nice to just go and relax and have a drink. The staff are very helpful around the campsite, the shop was small but had everything you needed, the gentleman in there was very helpful and friendly! I cant believe a campsite has a hair drying and straightening room with hairdryers and straightners provided bu the campsite, that is amazing! There is a laundrett which was good for drying our clothes from the lovely weather we had! There was plenty of room for our tent, there is not a pitch size so nice that we dont have to worry about fitting in. We will certainally be going back for another few days in our tent. Thanks again!
