We have just stayed at this lovely rural campsite.
We arrived on Bank holiday friday and were given a couple of pitches to choose from, we chose one at the top of the site for the views.
The toilet block is brand new (as is the site - 3 months old) so its lovely, there is a hairdryer, two showers and 8 toilets in the ladies - It did cause a bit of a problem not having enough showers at bank holiday time but I think in the week its fine. The campsite are aware they will need to do something about that for the future. The toilet facilities are SPOTLESS, well done to the two ladies that run the site! I think for next year they are planning a little basics shop so that will be handy.
You will need to stock up on food at the local Nisa supermarket or the Local Co-op which are a five minute drive away or if you want aldi or tesco, they are located in Alfreton. There aren't any shops really within walking distance of the site.
Riddings is a very quiet village with two pubs in the same street, sadly none of them do meals. You will need to venture further to find food pubs.
Wifi connection was good, atmosphere on site was lovely and there was a little bouncy castle set up for the kids (the play park seems unfinished).
We wanted a quiet break as it was the first without out Teenagers and that is exactly what we got; we visited Chatsworth House and Matlock Bath whilst in the area. East midlands Designer outlet is about a 10 minute drive too.
Would definitely go back again!

First camping outing for the family after trying to get my wife to go for years. Thought it was all over after setting up on Friday night in the pouring rain but thankfully Saturday and Sundays weather was glorious. The site is great and the staff were really helpful. Bar & BBQ laid on for Saturday night. We hung around the tent listening to the tunes it was great even though there were a few technical difficulties it didn't matter it was still a great night. The site was pretty busy but I didn't have to wait for the washing up sink, toilets or the showers and everything was spotless. There are a lot of sites out there who could learn from this. There were a few idiots on the Saturday night who hadn't got the outdoor mentality and tried to make trouble for the owners but they were dealt with very quickly and professionally. (well done)
Can't wait to come back to this site it will be very hard to beat.

Overall a good site. Lovely friendly owners. Shower/toilet/potwashing block is lovely, however there was one toilet door that wouldn't lock in the ladies (hubby said there was one in the gents too). When the site is full there wasn't enough hot water. Bins did fill up very quickly and when we arrived they were overflowing and bags of rubbish just dumped on the floor. This was cleared away the next day.
The only things I think that let the site down is that there are a very limited number of flat tent pitches with ehu. It would have been much better for the site to have been tiered off. Also in one way being allowed to pitch where you like is great but because pitches aren't marked out it doesn't stop someone pitching their tent far too close to another tent and causing a fire risk.

Stayed for the weekend. Lovely site, recently taken over by new owners, who tried so hard to do everything they could to help us.
We walked to the local pub (10 minute walk). Called The Moulders Arms (known locally as The Thack). A traditional pub with good cider. Very friendly. The following day we drove to Shipley Park (20 min drive) for a walk, then called at the retail park on the way home (Aldi, Argos, Brantano, Poundstretcher etc - everything you need really!).
On the Saturday evening, the site hosted a BBQ and karaoke evening. This was welcome because it gave us the chance to chat to other campers. There were a few power problems during the music (apparently because they are waiting for their permanent electric supply to be completed, which is due any day soon), but most people took this in their stride and we're happy to just chat and mingle.
Excellent toilet and shower facilities. Easy access but do follow their instructions.
Chilled out site, chilled out owners. We will visit again.

Stayed here for three nights as a disabled person in a caravan
Lovely views of derbyshire to start. New owners this year, great people nothing too much for them to help or sort out. A bit hilly for me being unable to walk too far. But nice site. Very clean tidy disabled shower room great stuff. Shops not too far co-op everywhere 2 mins in car.
Very nice site try it !

My partner and I camped at the campsite for one night. It's a lovely site with very nice facilities. The staff were very friendly and could be seen walking around the site checking on things and making sure everyone was happy. Had a nice walk through the woods and enjoyed sitting out in the local pub.
Overall the site had a great atmosphere, plenty of room and was very friendly. Most recommended :)

Let's be clear, having stayed for nearly a week, this is NOT a 10 out of 10 site.
Firstly it is on a steep hill and whilst a lot of the hardstanding pitches are fairly flat, the camping pitches are pretty much all on an angle and we had to buy £30 levellers to stop our trailer tent rolling down the hill.
Secondly, whilst it is peaceful in the week, Saturday night is party night and the 'No loud music' rule is flouted across the whole site, meaning we had to put up with very bad pop music for four hours coming from multiple pitches. Our Saturday night was a write off. Also Smooth Radio is playing in the toilets 24/7 which is massively annoying if you are not a fan of dire, middle of the road 80s dirge.
If they could enforce a few of their own rules a bit better and turn the radio off in the toilet, it would be improved greatly.

Went to site and was disappointed. Toilet good. But site is on a hill side and not good for caravans. Plus not many shop in the area will not visit this site again. Getting to the site you have to go passed double park car on narrow road. No play area. The grit on the road makes it very hard to get a grip

On arrival at ridding wood we were greeted by Kathy who was very nice! We were told we could pitch in the bottom field as there was going to be a group of us and she would put extensions on the electric for us. The whole of the campsite was on a steep slope so when we were in bed my husband kept rolling into me and if you put something on a table it would slide off!
The whole pitching procedure was chaotic at best! With people being told there were no allocated pitches so pitch where you like this resulted in people pitching far to close which resulted in our car getting scratched very badly by our neighbours!
The toilets and shower block were very nice clean and tidy however as soon as the site filled up for weekend it soon became apparent that the site facility's were totally inadequate for the amount of people on site. The electricity constantly failed the showers were stone cold and to be honest 2 shower cubicles per sex on a site containing hundreds of people was never going to be enough! The grass was never cut while we were there (6 days) should of been 7 but we left early. People were aloud to put open fires all over it! And noise levels at night were very bad! Our dog came home with a very nasty rash on his belly which the vet said was a reaction to pesticide. The one good thing about the site was the manager Kathy who did her level best to try and help with any problems but to be honest she was swimming against the tide! She offered us 50% off our next visit but unfortunately we won't be coming back.

Great site just spent 4 nights here pkace is spotless, staff *Cath & Jo* could not be more helpful. Toilets showers are second to none. We stayed non electric. On bottom field nice and quiet. There is a pub called the (Thack) about 5 minute walk for site selling real ales highly recommended. There is a co op about a five minute drive from the camp selling everything. You can have a nice walk round Codnor res if you want to stay close by. Or you have the peaks all round you.
