Camping and Caravan Club, Certified Site. £16 per night with electric.
Large oblong Field, with short cut grass with cuttings collected. With some views of surrounding hills. Only one toilet, in outbuilding with a washing up bowl and information leaflets board in said room, which had a large frosted window with blinds. Outside and underneath this window was the water fill up tap, which made it a bit uncomfortable for my wife when she was filling up the aqua roll and a man walked in to use the toilet!
That aside, we found this site to be excellent for our needs. Metro Train station nearby with trains to nearby Newcastle and the Metro centre. Walks and cycle path along side the river Tyne, which is a stones throw from the site. 3 Pubs within easy walking distance, The Boathouse Inn, which was next to the train station. Was only serving Pie and mash or sandwiches as food but had a great selection of cask ales and ciders, about 10 of each in a friendly atmosphere. The Black Bull Inn, also friendly, where we had probably the best Sunday lunch I can remember, and which also had a couple of cask beers as well as the usual choice and Sky TV.
The Fox and Hounds, also friendly which was just reopening under new owners, weren't doing food when we were there but planned too. There is a Spar near The Black Bull Inn.
TV coverage was good, phone signal was also good with 4g most of the time with O2 giff gaff. Think the site may have WiFi but can't confirm as did not use it. Have give site facilities 5 out of 10 only because some people might expect showers and such which of course it does not.
Occasional noise from the planes flying out of Newcastle International airport. When arriving at site you drive down the last terrace nearest the river, at the end of the terrace turn left and you should see the site entrance.

Stayed here at short notice and really enjoyed it. Beautiful setting by the River Tyne. The facilities are basic but clean and functional. Everything you need, CWD, grey waste, fresh water, etc can all be found at the entrance to the camping field. The owners are very friendly, helpful but not intrusive. EHU is via one 4-connection unit. This means that extra long connections might be required although the owners keep a supply of extensions which they are happy to lend. A five or ten minute walk gets you to the village where there are four pubs, three of which serve food. A spar, fruit and veg shop, post office plus cafes etc.
Liked the atmosphere of the place so much, stayed for an extra night. Would recommend and visit again.

Lovely small grassy site with electric hook ups, great friendly owner. The village is great - 4 pubs - the Boathouse does real ale and Thai food at certain times. There are other good pubs and restaurants in the village too. Good access by train into Newcastle. There are some lovely walks and cycle rides direct from the site. Now the downside, only one toilet which is very basic; no showers. Waste water disposal is down the field boundaries.

We arrived on the Friday afternoon, to be greeted by Phil the owner. Very accommodating and very friendly. We chose our site, next to the single electricity point (4 gang) although we didn't use it. Large field, fairly flat although slightly wet at this time of year but no problems with 4WD. Ideally situated for Wylam, lovely walks along the waggonway and access for cycle routes. Toilet block very basic as listed but more than acceptable if needed. Elsan point and fresh water both handy, as are the recycling bins. Phil advised on our departure day there was no need to rush off if we wanted to stay later in the day which is a welcome change to some sites. 5-10 minute walk to the village centre, pubs very friendly and reasonably priced. Local chinese takeaway also delivers to the site, which is always welcome! Parked car up on Friday lunchtime, never got back in until we left on Sunday. No need to drive anywhere. Stumbled across this site by chance, been caravanning for years and didn't realise we had missed such a jewel in the crown. Well done Phil & Son! Have already pencilled in return date.

Despite being right on the edge of Wylam this site can be described as rural. It is secluded and quiet. It is a level, grass paddock cut to a reasonable length. Levelling blocks might be necessary as there are some small irregularities in the surface. The toilet facilities are basic but adequate and clean. Chemical disposal is excellent as is fresh water. Grey water is disposed at field margins. Power is via one 4-connection unit. This means that extra long connections might be required although the owner keeps a supply of extensions which he is happy to lend.
The owner is very welcoming and most helpful without being intrusive. Just perfect.
There are 4 pubs in the village three of which serve food. The Ship seemed to have the most varied menu and when we ate there twice the food was excellent and good value. The Boathouse, which does not do food, does 14 real ales on draught and a great selection of draught ciders.
There is a well stocked shop, a pizza carry-out and a couple of cafes.
The station is about 5 minutes stroll from the site with an hourly service to Newcastle and the Metro Centre.
A great site! We are going back soon.

Booked last min with Northumberland da rally. So pleased I did, this is a jewel in the crown site. Entrance a bit tight but I do have twin wheeler managed ok in and out. Right in the middle of wylam, cycle track and town on your door step, great field nice and level, there is electric hook up, as on rally never used it. Basic toilet and wash basin if you need it. Liked it so much rebooked on electric 2 weeks time. Shouldn't be telling you this as this will become popular site.

This was the first site we visited whilst walking the wall, a lovely clean and friendly site in an outstanding setting.
The owner was only too happy to help out wherever he could.
The facilities are very basic but clean and functional.
There are a few pubs and shops only a few minutes walk from the site.
All in all a nice relaxed site, spotlessly clean and great value for money.
Thanks for having us.

A delightful, well sheltered, well cared for site just getting into its stride. This will be hugely popular next season I'm sure. I received a very warm welcome when I arrived. Facilities are basic as yet but adequate and clean.
Its a stones throw from the river Tyne (but you'll think you're in Swaledale!) and the station on the Newcastle to Carlisle line is just across the bridge. Steam trains occasionally run along here in Summer which is apt because Wylam is the birthplace of the locomotive and Stephenson's cottage is just along the Waggonway. A lovely cycleway passes the site which follows the riverbank all the way into the city one way and up the Tyne valley the other. Highly recommended.

I stayed here at short notice and really enjoyed it. Beautiful setting by the River Tyne and a friendly atmosphere. Incredibly quiet and peaceful. Owners couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Toilet block was basic but clean. Would definitely stay here again. There is a pub and Spar shop about an 8 minute walk away.
