Reddacleave Farm
Booked by email, although email address (name) may be previous owner/family. Seem to be branding as “Dartmoor Camping”.
Site is a few fields behind the farm house. Small paddock with EHUs down one side, just our campervan and a long-stay tent when we stayed, with stream alongside. Other fields available for more wild camping (no facilities), so lots of space available.
Compost toilets are OK. Gas fired shower (effectively outdoor) was a shock but OK for 2 days. But exactly as advertised. Torches essential.
Direct access onto Dartmoor from the fields, for wild exploration. Not far from Avon Dam Reservoir, but you need to be able to navigate with map to get there.
We paid £28 for 2 adults, pitch and EHU; not cheap but trading on the location. And paid in advance online.

Words can't describe how surprised I was to find out just what a gem of a place Reddacleave Farm truly is. The pictures of this site don't do it justice!
We had a huge field to ourselves where our dog could mooch about freely and uninterrupted.
At the top of the field are 2 gates leading straight onto the moor! 11 miles of hiking and we met one other person.
The owner is so lovely and very helpful also :)
We will surely be back!

My family & I stayed here last week (August 2022), there were 9 of us in total, oldest being 56 and youngest being 3, we had the most wonderful 3 nights and I cannot fault a single thing!
We originally booked 1 pitch with electrical hook up and one wild camping but on arrival the wild camping spot was so amazing we decided to brave the 3 nights without electric so we could all be together.
We had an entire area to ourselves, not another tent in sight, there was ample space including a picnic bench, our own eco toilet (which the host emptied and cleaned EVERY DAY), access to the river and even a fire pit to roast marshmallows (which we didn't actually use due to the ban because of the heatwave - we weren't complaining!)
The farm itself is idyllic, if youre after peace and tranquility this site is for you.
On arrival you're greeted by their dog and two pet sheep (bottle feeding at 9am each morning which the kids loved!), there's access to the river for swimming and they even had inflatables for the kids! Also, powerful hot shower at the main sight bit.
The hosts were both super lovely and accommodating and our children loved playing with their daughter and were very sad to leave her!
There's wonderful walks all across Dartmoor national park which is absolutely stunning.
Beaches short drive a way. We went to Hope Cove which was great for the kids as had rock pools and sand - it was also quite quiet which was a surprise as we went on a boiling hot day in August!
Cannot find a single thing to fault and we hope to be back again soon, my eldest is already nagging to go back and see Harriette!
Thanks so much!

A world apart from most campsites - in the best sense! We spent 3 nights in a campervan & barely saw another person.
A remote spot on the edge of southern Dartmoor it's in a wonderful location, made even better by the five only, well spaced, camping spots spread across three huge fields.
The facilities are basic (all the better for that!) with only an outdoor compost toilet.
Fires are allowed.
A real gem for those who love back to nature style camping.

We have just had the most wonderful stay at Reddacleave Farm in stunning weather.
A huge plot to ourselves (30 acre field!) with picnic table, fire pit (lots of dead wood around) butterflies everywhere, and composting loo in nearby woods.
The next nearest camper was a couple of hundred yds away in another field.
Only 4 or 5 campers on the whole farm when we were there, and couldn't see any of them.
Stunning views and walks straight from the top of the field onto the moor. And on to the Avon Dam and reservoir, and Huntingdon Cross. Back to Shipley Bridge and the very welcome ice cream van after a 12 mile circuit.
We didn't use the shower. Flannel wash perfect!
We met Jason. Incredibly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we missed Sarah, but look forward to meeting her next time.
Yes. We'll definitely be back. The best 'nearly wild' camp we've ever had! Thank you Jason and Sarah

We’ve just had a lovely stay, was our first camping expedition as a family of 5 and couldn’t fault it.
We were parked next the the stream, very picturesque. The addition of sheep, a dog, chickens and other wildlife was a bonus for us.
The children enjoyed playing with other families on the equipment and in the stream.
The compost toilets were well presented and easy to access, we didn’t use the shower but good to know it’s there.
Bug spray is a must at this time of year, being close to the water- but we didn’t let it spoil our fun!
Great that you can have campfires too.
We’re already arranging our next visit.

Great position by a small stream backing onto the Moors.
Only a few flat pitches which were rather soft ground when I was there after a wet spell but I was able to park on the track which was firm.
Limited facilities but that suits me very well. Could do with a separate tap for cassette cleaning - this is planned.
Friendly and helpful owners Jason and Sarah.

I enquired using the form on here and received a quick response letting me know they had space and that the price would be £10 for the night for me and my dog in a VW campervan without electric hookup.
Upon arrival I met the owner at the cottage, had a walk around the site with the owner, shown my pitch, paid my cash and off I went. The site is massive with some lovely places to camp, I pitched near the fresh water stream and the pitch had a picnic bench and a compost loo that was fully equipped and clean and tidy. I understand there are electric hookups if you need them.
There is a fresh water tap, chemical disposal point and bins. There are no showers on site.
The site is in a great location for walking being on the edge of the Moors, the downside was that my pitch was quite open and it was windy, but not that much of an issue really.
Walking is in abundance from the site and I covered many miles along the moors. But make sure you have a map and compass as the mist can come down quickly.
There is loads on site for children, streams to splash in, space to run and play, etc.
I managed to get signal of the Three network.
The site is about 15 minutes from the A38 and the roads are not too bad.
All the sights of Dartmoor are nearby in the car and this is a great base as a location for visiting Dartmoor and the coast.
I loved the relaxed calm nature of this site, it is huge and I will definitely return when I am next in the area.
