Having decided aged 54 to become campers, myself and my husband bought a tent on the Wed before Aug bank holiday and surprise surprise could not get booked anywhere. We decided to try the Norfolk area after failing nearer to home and this was about the 7th site we called and to our surprise we could booked in!
We expected the worst but I have to say this site surpasse all expectations. It's clean friendly and fantastically located for Wells, Burnham, Holkham and Hunstanton to say the least.
I would recommend!
For under £150 all inclusive including a fabulous Sunday roast in the local Gastropoda the Duck Inn for a 2 night break we are now hooked!

Had planned to stay at the huge CCC site at Sandringham but it was full. We came on here instead, without booking, and were offered a choice of pitches.
The site is indeed immaculate. It's also very friendly - many people have been coming for years (the caravans are stored in the yard until they're needed) and paused for a chat.
The central fenced dog paddock is as well mown as the site, and our dog could run around madly while we played pétanque on the court there (you need your own boules). There are 2 motorhome waste water dumps, not marked - look for the lid handle in the yard gravel.
A bird kite shows the wind strenth & direction, handy for deciding where to sit out by the motorhome. We would happily come back, as the site is central for the many houses, gardens, beaches & pretty villages to visit (though north Norfolk was mobbed on a sunny Saturday).
Basic fee £11, add £2 in high season, £3 for EHU and £1 for the dog - came to £17 pn, we thought that was very good. Owner is on site, it's quiet, it's ideal!

As a mature couple who have camped for many years in UK and abroad this site rates very highly. We booked last minute in August for an exceptionally reasonable price in high season. Arrived midday and greeted efficiently and pleasantly.
The site is just off a busy B road with wide entrance but then one follows a road round to a secure but open and slightly sloping grass field. The grass was short and not covered in clippings. The ground was firm and well drained but not rock hard.
The site was not full but even if it was pitches are very generously spaced. Our pitch was allocated and we were soon set up with a view towards the coast and a big sky. There is a plea by owners not to use ground sheets as it discolours the grass and not to use domestic wattage appliances as the supply is limited. Along with other notices displayed we found this acceptable.
The toilet block and other facilities are brick built and immaculate. Electric showers are provided free and whilst not a power shower are perfectly adequate. The washing up area is superb with double drainer and plate rack. The TV room was lovely to relax in. There is a laundry room for those staying longer. Information is available about the local attractions. The owner wanders round the site chatting to visitors because it would appear many are regulars.
The surrounding area has many attractions within easy driving distance whether you are looking for a walk in the woods or a cycle on quiet lanes or seaside amenities or quaint fishing villages. Country pubs and cafes are in abundance and one could easily spend a week here.
As an adult only site it was fabulously quiet. We were not bothered by the traffic on the B road or the rooks although this might be different in a tent. Even better than no kids was the fact that dogs were always on a lead on the site except when let loose in their own fenced off area.
So all in all we could not fault it and will be back. Next time though I will ignore satnav when coming from Kings Lynn and travel further along A148 until turning up B1454 as other approach roads are a bit narrow when towing.

What a lovely site. Beautifully located with views and utterly pristine. The facilities are 5 star and polished to a shine. The welcome friendly and efficient.
So whatever could be wrong? A proliferation of signs all over the facilities beginning with 'No'. As this is an adults only site these signs are insulting and extremely unfriendly.
Why no cycling? Why no electric kettles allowed? etc etc. , The friendly atmosphere evaporated immediately after arrival. A terrible shame after all that hard work.

Just returned from here after 3 nights. Spotless site very impressive facilities no kids was the reason for our visit. Was given a pitch but I prefer to choose.
Big wind problem on the 1st night so could be a problem as I believe it can be an issue here (for tents) but would definitely visit again for the peace and quiet.
My wife and I were disappointed in the distance to pubs as we like to walk out for a beer at night, this is NOT possible here, so it was tent only drinking for us, also norfolk generally, pub wise is expensive, even though your nowhere near the broads.
You will have to do a lot of driving if you want days out, but this is a good base, I know my way around so knew where I was staying was a bit isolated but do your homework if touring.
To sum up, a friendly site, fabulous facilities, childfree, fair price, happy to recommend. Steve. (camper)

We spent a lovely few days in glorious weather in August 2013. Although it was the height of the school holidays this site is Adult only and although only small still had pitches available.
Two fields (one for tents with no electric) and one with EHU, also a doggy walking field were immaculately mown. Plenty of space around pitches.
Facilities were very clean with good showers and toilets, together with indoor washing up sinks and separate laundry room. For campers there was an excellent TV room with suite and dining chairs/table. As a previous camper, what a great idea this was. Always lots of hot water available and never had to queue.
The site was situated in the countryside. Nearest shop was in Docking (spar) together with a Pub serving meals. Another pub a short distance away at Stanhoe was The Duck, but was very upmarket and gastro-type, looked very attractive. Site was not serviced by a local bus route so transport was necessary. We cycled around the local area but an OS Map helped as some 'B' roads were very busy with fast traffic.
The site is highly recommended for a quiet, relaxing break with no children allowed, even as visitors.

We spent a lovely time at The Rickels for 5 nights in September.
The site is beautifully kept with excellent facilities which were always tidy and clean. There was plenty of hot water for the showers and washing up.
The site itself was all grass and sloping slightly. Most of the pitches were in the open, but there were a few in shady spots at certain times of day. TV reception was good on the normal caravan aerial. The owners were regularly on site. All this cost £13 per night – a bargain.
The Rickels is near to Docking out in the countryside. However, it is very handy for the Norfolk coast and about 30 minutes drive from King's Lynn. Highly recommended.

We were a little concerned that we couldn't find any recent reviws or any on-line information much beyond basic stats for this place, but we were really pleased when we got to this campsite. The tent field is fairly close to the road, but not too intrusive and we had pitch 4 and were right in the corner so could set up overlooking fields. The ground was quite difficult to get pegs into, but we are not sure if that was just our pitch.
Ladies block had 4 toilets and 2 showers. Not overly glamorous but fantastically clean. Washing up facilities next door had 3 decent size sinks and draining boards. Also a small freezer for freezer packs, which cost 20p per pack.
The grounds were immaculate. There is a tv room and a laundry room which we didn't use.
Some lovely gastro pub places nearby - we ate at the Duck Inn one night.
Definitely recommend Rickels for a quiet few days.

We have just returned from our weekend stay at this wonderful site. The facilities are the cleanest I have ever witnessed.
Toilet block was spotless with the shower areas being kept clean without traces of hair, blades of grass or mud!
We stayed on the Electric Hook Up field which was slightly further away from the road and any traffic noise, even though it was minimum and isn't a criticism.
Nearby is the fantastic Bircham Mill (2. 5 miles from site), selling freshly made bread, cakes, cheese, jams and other produce. It has a delightful cafe too.
It's a definite must if staying here. We found the site ideal for visiting Hunstanton, Thornham, The Burnhams and Wells-next-the Sea. No doubt we shall be visiting Rickels again in the near future.

We spent 3 nights here and were impressed with the site. The washblock was spotless with ample, free hot water. The site is nice and quiet (what a shame an adults only policy is necessary these days but as long as parents fail to take responsibility for their children it certainly is) and we had a peaceful, tranquil stay.
Unfortunately the weather was atrocious but that's the luck of the draw.
Beaches all along the nearby north Norfolk coast are superb with Holkham bay an excellent place for walking, lazing in dunes etc.
There are 2 pubs within a few miles of the site. We ate at both and preferred the Railway in nearby Docking, a proper pub with good real ale and nice unpretentious food.
The Duck in Stanhoe is nice but a bit posh. It's been recently renovated and whilst the building is very impressive and the staff friendly enough the overall experience was not great. We felt the food and beer were better in the Railway. Others will disagree and that's fair enough but that was our personal preference.
The campsite has a separate field for tents and the pitches are spacious enough. I can understand previous poster's comments about it being a windy site but that would not put us off returning.
We paid £12 for 2 adults with a 4 man tent which we thought very fair.
All in all, highly recommended.
