Arrived for a 2 night stay a couple of days before Easter after only booking the previous day due to the site we had originally booked being flooded. We were allocated a hard standing complete with hook-up, water tap and waste drain. Warm welcome by the owners.

This is not the usual type of site we would choose - a big organised site with playground, swimming pool, tennis court, shop etc - but we had a wonderful time here.

The site is perfectly located with a very short walk to the wonderful clean sandy beach - Flynn, our dog had a great time chasing the seagulls and making friends with all the other dogs on the beach. Coastal path runs alongside the site with good walks in both directions. Choice of sandy beach, dunes and rock pools.

The site is extremely well kept with lovely lawned areas. The free showers and toilets in the new block were spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water. Never had to wait but it was quiet when we stayed so cannot comment if there are sufficient showers for busier periods.

Lots of statics and seasonal caravans on site, think we were the only motorhome.

Left on Good Friday and the site was getting very busy. Would definitely stay again but only in low season. We were charged £19 for 2 adults and 1 dog which is quite reasonable for the facilities offered but would have been £28.50 for the Easter period which is more than we would normally pay.

Did think that the site attracted holidaymakers rather than campers.

Would suit families with children due to the facilities offered and close proximity to the beach.

When we arrived it was very windy so we were warned not to pitch near the cliff - so we pitched near the toilet block on the main site. We still couldn't pitch our tent after an hour of trying as it was too windy so got some help from some other campers and we eventually got pitched. The new toilet block was fab about 6-8 showers, 4 toilets I think and rooms to do your make up and dry your hair (50p for hairdryer) all very clean. There was also another toilet/shower block near the main reception - good shop with freezer for your freezer blocks with 50p charge. Heated pool with small charge £1.50 for adult and £1 for child. The site is next to Sandy beach - lovely beautiful and clean with breathtaking views. Ace playground for the kids. This is mainly a Caravan park and gets busy at weekends with the regulars so the noise levels do go up a bit at night. We had great weather on the Friday and Saturday however feared for our life on the Saturday night due to the wind etc. Our tent took a battering !

This is our third visit to Penrhyn bay and we were very disappointed this time. When we arrived we were given a pitch that wasn't suitable for a tent but there was nowhere else, we were battered by the wind from the minute we set up so much so on the 4th night the wind was that bad it damaged the tent. We ended up having to get a new tent the owners did help us get a different pitch which was sheltered from the wind but when it rain it turned in to a mud bath we ended up coming home a day early due to this and no refund was offered.
The up side is they have built a new toilet block which was very nice and clean. This site seems to be catering more for caravans now their were not many tents on the electric hook up.

This was a lovely site, very clean and modern.

Probably aimed more at caravanners than those of us camping in tents on the whole.

Note that as I write this (July 09) the 'lovely Pub serving food' that previous reviewers mentioned has in fact burned down so we did not see this at all.

It is an extremely windy camp site for 'tenters' as someone else pointed out too. Seemed quite cold at night perhaps due to this too.

Nice swimming pool on site, and good facilities (New ones being built were due to be opened the day we left, so probably much better now!)

Would recommend !

Arrived on the Friday evening in very windy conditions. Managed to put tent up despite weather.Toilet block very clean and well kept. Site in good location, would have camped next to sea but conditions to breezy. Would recommend. Site pool good for kids, games room ok. Local village has shops and chip shop, road to and from site is very narrow and quite long but that to be expected if you want to get right up to the coast. Staff cheerful and obliging.

We spent two nights at this fab site,3 kids ,1 puppy

Had gorgeous weather in day but be warned can be very windy. Make sure you have a good tent, ours got battered sat night and ended up going to tent heaven. We had planned to stay Sun night but the tent wouldnt have got through another windy night. We were refunded for the night we didn't stay!

Really lovely site, the website doesn't do it justice, looks like site is by huge cliffs but this is not so. Fab views, lovely huge sandy beach. Well stocked shop, clean and tidy, lovely pub and restaurant, play area, indoor pool. Showers and toilets are fine but very small but there is a fab new shower block which should be ready end May.

Tesco Argos Wilkinson are twenty min drive away by Holyhead, fish chip shop, Chinese restaurant 10 mins drive .

The owners /staff are very friendly and very helpful we forgot our gas bottle regulator and the owner went and got his own gas bottle and regulator to loan us for a small fee.

My teenagers had a great time exploring, climbing rocks and even braved a swim in the sea, maybeAug I might but not April/May !

All in all we were really pleased with this site and would definitely recommend. We will be going again, when we buy a new tent - a stronger tent - wont be buying from ebay again!

Have just returned from a long Easter weekend at this site. It was only our third trip away in our new motorhome, so we're still learning. The site is in a fantastic location (although access is tricky, with about 3 miles of narrow winding lanes with passing places) overlooking two beautiful, child-friendly beaches. As we did not require hookup we were able to park up right on the edge of the very low cliff overlooking the sea and the beach.

We made little use of the site's facilities - the toilet block was dirty when I went in the morning, and the showers didn't appeal either so we stuck to our van facilities. A new toilet block is being built at present so I presume things will improve. The shop was very poorly stocked, although the shop on the site next door (which we only discovered on our last evening there) has more extensive provisions.

With it being Easter the site was very busy, particularly as there seem to be a lot of statics. There was quite a bit of noise in the evening from presumably drunken crowds, dogs were running off-lead, teenagers were smoking in the playground etc., which was disappointing to see and put a dampener on things. Maybe a bit more enforcement of the site rules would be helpful - but I appreciate that I don't really know what other sites of a comparable size are like in this respect.

All in all we had a lovely time, but would probably try to find a smaller site for our next stay on Anglesey.

We spent a weekend here at the beginning of October, we live locally and purchased a new van which we wanted to try out. Very friendly staff, very willing to help. Like others have said it is a very open site & did get very windy although at least it helped us test our van against the elements.

I would say it would be perfect in the height of summer very close to Sandy Beach, 2 min walk if that. Swimming pool fantastic and warm too, great play park for the kids and security barriers to gain entry / exit to the site, all in all I would definitely camp again.

Brilliant site, no one there when we went, unfortunately weather against us, but what views, beautiful. Owner very friendly showed us to our pitch, hardstanding one of three. Very spacious, vans not on top of each other, having new toilets built, I think.
Excellent - too far for us to visit more often. Try it you wont be disappointed. Shop well stocked also shop on next site too. We did not venture onto the beach on the next site as it had a 'No Dogs' sign on the entrance gate, so we were unsure. Although it is a coastal footpath so can't see how dogs are not allowed.

Had a great week here. Was offered a pitch near facilities or with a view, took the pitch with a view of the sea. Loads of space, we had large tent, trailer and two cars. Only 4 toilets and 4 showers which at first worried us as it is a very large campsite, but we never had too queue and were kept very clean- loads of hot water. Average shop, very good play area as there was always lot's of children on it.
Great little bar and bistro on the attached site, which was children friendly and well within walking distance. Free tennis court(bring your own balls, bats provided).
Didn't use the pool, which there was a small charge for of £1.00 to £1.50. Beach great! Could see it from the pitch we also fished off the rocks 5m away from our tent. Went to dublin for the day from holyhead which was only 20 mins away.
Area has some good cycle paths, take in the windmill.

Fantastic site will go again, never felt crowded even in peak weeks.
