Just returned from a three day break and what a fantastic time had by all. We pitched right on the cliff edge that overlooked the bay and could hear the waves crashing on the rocks below. You can see the Irish ferries coming and going and a few sea lions showed up so that kept the kids happy. (Take binoculars)
Weather was very windy and are vermont stood up well but I cant stress how windy this place gets so be warned.
Toilet blocks are little small for the size of camp but very clean and also a well stocked shop, swimming pool (extra) and games room. A swipe card is given for access to and from the blocks and site and a £10.00 deposit is given back on return.
The only downside was there are very little waste dumps and no dog bins but that's it. We will return to this busy campsite with the best views this side of Barmouth but be warned, book in advance and enjoy.

Just got back from another great holiday at penrhyn. This is the second time we have been and will be going back next year. The site is well look after its spotless. My 7 year old son loves it he's always out playing in the park or if its raining he's in the the room with the pool table and arcade machines he never wants to come home he's already asked when we are going back. It has sea views on three sides the beach is clean and the sea is clear. The shipwrecked restaurant is well worth a visited this on the sandy beach site but you need to book a table well in advance as it gets busy in high season. I would recommend this site to any one.

We stayed on this site for five nights. The welcome was friendly and we were given a choice of areas to pitch. We chose the field overlooking the bay and pitched just yards from the rocks that lead down to the sea. We could see the ferries coming in and out of Holyhead and on an evening the sunsets over the Irish Sea are amazing.
A £10 pound deposit gets you a card which operates the barriers to enter and exit the site and allows access to the toilets and shower blocks which were kept immaculately clean and well stocked. There is also a well stocked shop on the site although its opening times are limited to a few hours a day.
There is a playground and a separate sports field for the kids although our two spent more time exploring the rock pools. We paid a fiver (2 adults & 2 children) to go to the indoor pool on the site and were fortunate enough to have the pool to ourselves which felt very exclusive.
You can get access to the beach via the adjoining Sandy Beach campsite which also has a very good bar and restaurant.
The drive to the site is down a couple of narrow lanes from the main road which leads to the small village of Llanfachraeth where there is a pub, a Post Office / General Store with a cash point. Further along the road you reach Valley which is a bigger village where there are a variety of shops and an Indian Restaurant (Unlicensed but you can buy beer or wine from the nearby shop and take it in). The Valley Hotel is a good sized pub that serves food all day and has a nice beer garden.
If you need gas canisters there is a large shop in Valley that seems to sell just about everything.
Summary: If you want blam, don’t bother! If you want to escape and live at a more leisurely pace, this site is great!

We were a bit disappointed with this site. It wasn't cheap at around £30 per night for our family of 2 adults and 3 kids in a touring caravan with awning. The approach is down 3 miles of single track roads with passing places and you just have to hope and pray you don't meet another towing outfit coming the other way - in fact departures must be made before noon and arrivals after 1pm to try to avoid this. This was only my 3rd time towing and I don't mind admitting that the thought of the tow out was on my mind everytime we left the site.
The toilet block was dated and the showers were of the push button type which needed loads of pushes for a lukewarm shower.
It can be very, very windy and you will need storm straps for your awning. There are a lot of seasonal tourers on site so people must keep coming back.
On a positive note, the beach adjacent to the site is beautiful when the sun shines and is quite a suntrap. The kids enjoyed the playground, swimming pool and the tennis courts are ok.
All in all, an ok site but expensive for basic facilities and we wouldn't return.

This has got to be my second favourate site. We managed to pitch right on edge and this over looked the Irish sea.
This has a bar a shop and indoor swimming pool and tennis courts and a childrens playground and sandpit which are all nice.
The stand out things for me on this site is it massive private beach and the view at night from your folding chair with a beer watching the seakats come and go from Holyhead to Dublin.
The negatives were the toilets were ok and the next campsite across had a all night disco but this could only beheard in the distance at about 03:00 when there is no noise on your site and it wasn't loud enough to wake you.

Having been coming to this site since I was about 5 years old with my mum and dad, decided to revisit this site after a few years break with my wife who fell in love with the site and lovely beaches. On our last visit had a major problem with the strong winds and with the very kind help from the shop keepers lending us there transit van to block some of the wind off our awning we managed to stay in one piece throughout our stay. Sadly we couldn't go to the site last year due to work pressure and young driver who decided to play bumper cars with me at the traffic lights. This year thou after the sad passing of my father we will be booking our main holiday and coming to spend our summer holiday with the Williams family

I'm only 17 and I've been going to the caravan site since I was about 2!
My dad's been visiting since the 70's and he still loves it.
The site has everything you could possibly need with a shop, games room, swimming baths, play area as well as showers and toilets.
I've seen it change a lot since first going and the owners put a lot of money back into improving the site.
I'd definitely recommend it!

We have just returned from our very first family camping trip at this site!
It is a great site with good facilities, it had Four toilets in each Male and Female block and separate showers for Male and Female, again these had Four individual shower cubicles-which were nice and hot- with a little drying area, a couple of hooks and a little seating area in each. They also had a hairdryer which I think you have to pay for.
We was on the grass area by the playground which was very handy as it was close to the shop (which was well stocked, and you could use the freezer for your ice packs or to cool your beer or wine!) ,toilets, showers, waste disposable unit, drinking water tap and playground.
The playground was a good size and consisted of a little adventure centre with a slide, a couple of swings, a bridge and a rope climber. The rest of the playground had a bigger slide, a couple more swings, a tyre swing, a bigger rope climber and a little sandpit with mini diggers the children could sit on.
The beach was easily walk-able and was a huge, lovely beach which we saw a few people taking their boats and jet skis down too. We opted for the end of the beach where the rocks were as this shielded us from the wind!
By the beach is another shop and a bar/restaurant called “Shipwrecked”, the shop was well stocked and although we didn’t eat in the restaurant we did use it for its gorgeous coffee which we used to take out and sit on the beach with! You could text for a pizza with your choice of topping to be ready at a convenient time to you which seemed a good idea, The meals seemed a tiny bit over priced, but as we didn’t eat here I cant really comment.
Being First timers we didn’t have all the cooking equipment so for anyone that is going without this, there is a great Breakfast Van in Valley and Tesco is about a 15 Min drive.
There is an Indian, Chinese-which also did fish and chips and a Traditional Fish and Chip shop-We didn’t like the traditional Fish and Chip shop, the Chinese was much better taste and value.
Overall it was a great break and hasn’t put us off camping, we are definitely going to be going again!
The only downside was it was very windy as you are on the edge of the peninsula.

Great site, very very friendly and helpful. You must book a few weeks in advance as this site gets very busy. We were placed near to the middle so we didn't have problems with the wind. Our ariel didn't do so well on this site, everyone had problems with them. Make sure you book the pub meal in advance also as they get fully booked up! Loads for the kids to do, we found the swimming pool abit too cold as we had a 10 month old baby who's gums were chattering!apart from that a wonderful site! we extended our stay for a few more days while we was there. Great security. You have to use a swipe card to get in and out of the gate. Everyone was very very friendly. We left with quite a few phone numbers to keep in touch with people. A must to visit has to be r.A.F valley absolutely great place. And llandowyn island. Abit of a trek but well worth it.

This is an excellent campsite, lots of room for the kids to play and a great beach on your doorstep. The shop is very well stocked and the campsite next door has a club to watch the football in. There is a Tesco in Holyhead which is about a 20min drive away, and in the same area is an indian takeaway (very nice!). The pitch we had was very well positioned on the front row facing out to sea with its own water point, just go and enjoy!
