We have just stayed at this site for 4 nights. It is quite big but plenty of space separating the touring caravans. Great play area for the children and site is family friendly, with noise kept to a minimum from 10ish. Stunning views of the sea, which is about a 10 minute walk away & a bit of a hike back up. Owners were really helpful and friendly, even when we arrived very late at night, and helped make it a lovely stay. Many thanks!

Another year and another brilliant weekends camping at Newpark. This year we took 23 eleven year old pupils with us and were given our own plateau to make it easier for us to supervise the children. The campsite is well maintained and affords superb views of the coastline. The owners were very welcoming and friendly (as usual) and even arranged a trip for the children to the lifeboat station at Horton, which they really enjoyed. As we do our own cooking (and washing up!) it was good to see that the washing up facilities had been improved with plenty of hot water available. As we've camped here several times before we were aware of the arrangements for loo rolls (you have to collect them from the shop an arrival) and the need for tokens for the showers (25p). The showering facilities are clean and adequate and we managed to get all the children to shower on the Saturday! This campsite is ideally placed for us as we need lots of activities to keep the children occupied. Overton is a short walk away and is an ideal location for our evening barbecue - it also has great rock pools for the children to do a rock pool survey. The main beach is only a five minute walk from the campsite and the facilities on the front are good - a couple of fish and chip shops and an ice cream parlour were all the children needed. It made the weekend for me, as headteacher, when we were complimented on the behaviour of the children by some of the other people using the site. Looking forward to returning next year with a new group of pupils!

I wouldn't say I was a fussy camper but clean and ample showers is not a lot to ask considering it is quite a pricey campsite! Not only pricey but we were given a loo roll on arrival and told we needed to purchase shower tokens. There are 5 female showers and 5 male showers not nearly enough at busy times. Very dated and not the cleanest! No areas for changing once you had showered or to hang towels/clothes etc. The owners of this site need to spend some money on a new toilet/shower block to get return visitors. Its a real shame the location is stunning, views of the local beach and lovely small play area for the children.

Just arrived back. Have to say I concur with many of the mixed views. Firstly, what a view! An absolute joy to wake up to. My preference is a quiet sight and the owner's certainly work tirelessly to maintain quite a tranquil atmosphere. The beach is a short walk away. My only disappointment was the what you get for the money. Quite expensive for camping, I was told to buy my own toilet roll (didn't't go far between six of us) and the showers needed tokens. Showers were fine, the whole place could do with updating though. Having said that I like the quiet life and will definitely come here again, I have 4 shower tokens left and will stock up on bog roll!

Fabulous views across Port Eynon bay from most pitches. Tent field was terraced so pitches were in the main level. Most touring pitches weren't truly level though. The showers were very dated and didn't seem to operate properly all the time. Very odd being handed a toilet roll on arrival and seems to sum up the ethos of the owners - penny pinchers. This was not a cheap site - £127:00 for a week, on top of that a 25p token for a shower that half works seems very excessive (adds another £1 per day for us). The kids play area is good but apart from that the site could do with some of the profits being reinvested in the tired facilities -there wasn't a ground level grey waste point (how do the elderly manage all those steps !) A bit of weeding in the flower beds would also help spruce things up a bit. The road to Port Eynon is a bit of a bind when traveled for the umteenth time.

We booked a pitch on this site last August and yet when we arrived they had to go out and check where to put us, beautiful views and nice flat pitches, pitch size very small for our 6 man tunnel tent, amazed to be given my own toilet roll when I booked in, considering this to be quite an expensive price for a pitch I was also disappointed to find out I had to pay for a shower, showers very small and a bit dilapidated although there is a new block at the top of the hill, washing up facilities also a bit dated. My parents stayed in a chalet which was absolutely filthy, inside the wall lights was about three years worth of dead flies and dust balls underneath the beds. Shop was not very well stocked only very basic stuff. Shame about this because surrounding area is beautiful, beach at Port Eynon is excellent and not very far away.

We turned up in Port Eynon after everywhere in Oxwich had been shut down for winter. After getting stuck 3 times in the narrow lanes around Oxwich and a 4 hour journey that should have taken 1 1/2 hours it was so nice to turn up somewhere so welcoming. The play park is always important for us because we have 3 young girls and because of having a dog spend a lot of time on site. The park has a really good climbing frame with bridge, a tyre climbing frame, 2 slides a treehouse and swings, our girls would never get bored here. The shop also sells plenty of sweets for treats. The ladies toilets in the lower carpark had a faulty light that kept going on and off and the light outside the ladies wasn't working. My 4 year old got scared so we turned to leave quickly and both fell down the unlit steps, but things improved when my husband found the upper toilet block which was well lit. You have to take your own toilet roll to the toilets but we were given a roll on arriving. The showers use tokens bought from the shop but my shower still had time left on it after only using one token. We definitely want to return here as the views are fantastic and there is an area of the beach where you can take dogs all year round. Also lots of sanddunes to walk in and picnic. Can't wait to come back in the spring.

Not being terribly smart we ventured up to the Gower Peninsula on the Bank Holiday weekend without making any bookings. After touring a few sites that were already full we came across the Newpark Holiday Park. We we had a 2 man tent which fitted in nicely, although there were no numbered pitches there seemed to be enough space between campers. The facilities were a little old / well used, but they worked fine and there wasn't really any queueing, although there were tokens required for the showers (25p for about 5 mins). The site is very close to the beach local shop / PO, pub and Fish & Chips too. Our only concern was the hike in price for the weekend. Knowing that other sites were full they raised their price to £50 for a min of 3 nights (2 man tent) over that weekend! A 4 person tent would pay £55 for 3 nights! We live and learn!

Nice campsite, great location with superb views. Nicely contoured and fairly flat pitches. Walk to the sea and back no more strenuous than any other walk down to the beach. Showers standard, clean and tidy (tap heads were a bit mix and match with some showing as cold on both!) However we tried to book in advance for 5 days only to be told we could only book a whole week. When we were there lots of people just arrived and paid for however long they stayed (2/3/4 nights!) Also bizarrely they wanted to put all the tents close together at the top of the site and leave a big area open. Another family that had arrived were told to move their tent closer to another one for what seemed no reason at all. There was bags of space everywhere. We also had to pay for a XXl tent when it was only a 4 berth small one. Would go back for the location and views, but will not book beforehand and take our chances.

First camping holiday with my fiance and we absolutely LOVED IT! So much so, in fact, that we're planning on going next weekend too! We left on Friday afternoon without booking anywhere. Tried two other parks and they were both full - one park actually didn't look full - there seemed to be plenty of room for our little two berth tent but they still turned us away - think they took one look at our 21 year old faces and thought "no thank you!" After being turned away from two sites I began to panic as I hadn't been on a camping holiday without parents before(!) and I didn't want to go home. I had a few numbers and rang ahead to Newpark - we were told they had some space! The owners were LOVELY. It's a large site and we were shown to our pitch by a very smiley, friendly young man. He then directed us to the beach (which isn't a very long walk but if you do have little ones with you and you find yourself needing to carry a lot, I'd suggest taking the car). Pitch was on a slope so I'd suggest taking an air bed - something which we discovered after the first night! There is a shop on site which sells lots of different things, all of which seem well priced. There is a laundry room and 2 shower blocks - the shower block I used was a little dated but very clean. They provide toilet roll when you book in. You can buy tokens which work for the showers and the plug sockets (in the laundry room) - I thought they were great value for money - 4 for a £1 and the showers lasted long enough for me! Also had enough time on the electric sockets to straighted my hair - so I was happy! The tent field can be a little noisy but there is a lovely family holiday atmosphere there - when in the shop I overheard the owner turning away a group of teenagers - they certainly don't want any rowdyness! All in all a fabulous weekend - wonderful views, friendly, helpful owners and a lovely experience - we will be back again!
