Family run camping and caravan site. We got a great welcome on arrival and were provided with a clear map locating our pitch. There is are two toilet and shower blocks and also laundry and washing up facilities. I found this to be a very quiet site.
The site was well lit at night as we had to make our way from the pub, through the caravan park to get to our tent. The Yorkshire Hussar's camping and caravan park is situated directly behind a real ale pub. Black sheep and other local brews were on offer.
The pub does not serve food other than crisps or nuts. There is a boutique hotel just up the road that serves excellent food. There is a post office/village shop a short walk from the camp site which offers a good selection of supplies.
The nearest supermarket would be Morrisons in Ripon about 15 minutes drive away. Toilets were kept stocked with toilet rolls. Childrens' play area with climbing frame and swings. The famous Ripley Ice Cream parlour is a short drive away towards the spa town of Harrogate which is definitely worth a visit. We will definitely be back

We went as a group and were shown to a quiet secluded spot. Campsite seemed nice at first impressions however upon further inspection the showers were not the best, the pot wash had no hot water, so we went to boil kettles in out tent and blew electric.
The owner said that if it gets a regular thing we would be charged. The park was lovely however the paddling pool was not filled up so the children were disappointed they couldn't go in as we had promised them before hand. Site is close to harrogate which is lovely for shopping.

I visited this site in the summer, and all in all had a fantastic time.
The site itself was lovely, the owners and staff were very friendly. The facilities on site were good the toilets were nice and cleaned often, the showers were good also with plenty of hot water which was included in the price this was very reasonable,
There is a good play area for the kids which was safe and also a paddling pool. The sites pitches were very spacious and plenty of room for your car and to sit outside.
I will definitely be returning in the near future, and will recommend this site to others.

We visited this site in July with another tent and a tourer. We had 6 children with us. Tent pitches were lovely and secluded and no one overlooked you so that was nice. The price was £42 for 2 nights which we thought was ok at first, however, when we arrived and saw the toilets and showers we weren't happy. They were terrible.
There wasn't any handtowels, only a normal towel - which looked like it had been there for weeks! All around the sinks were dead flys, wasps and hair! It was there for the whole weekend so obviously hadn't been cleaned. The floors in the toilet block were the same - no mop to clean up after shower and were covered in dead wasps, mud and grass.
Dishwashing area isnt too clean either, no hot water on numerous occasions.
However, the kids park and paddling pool were good and our kids enjoyed this.
The Saturday was spoilt by another group in the next field (the owner said they were regulars) who were that drunk they were noisy and partied (including lots of bad language, throwing of cans and rubbish, threatening to fight each other, smashing their vans and tents) until 5.00 am! Our kids were terrified with the noise!
This has the potential to be a lovely site if they updated and cleaned the loos as the surrounding area was lovely.
Sorry but we wont be back - too expensive for what you get.

I am really pleased with another choice we have made using UKCampsite.co.uk reviews, as this site has lived up to more than I expected.
The site was well laid out, the toilet and shower facilities were clean and well-maintained. The surrounding area was typical North Yorkshire with it's market towns and scenery.
The owner ran the pub on which the site is located and instantly we felt welcome. We will be returning this summer, for another pleasant visit.

We have just stayed here and really enjoyed the weekend. The pitches are wide and flat with rows of hedges to shelter you a little bit.
They have a decent sized play area for the kids and a little pub on site which was child and dog friendly and even let us borrow some shot glasses.
The toilets could do with updating but they were regularly cleaned. Overall we had a good time and will return in the future.

A lovely campsite, the ten sections are in rows separated by hedges, This was our second visit here and is a very well kept site,we had electric and hook up is right next to each pitch, they give you plenty of room for your tent and car and space to sit outside, a good play area for the kids and a pub for the grown ups where you can sit outside while the kids play on the swings, the owners are very friendly! will go back!

First time we had been to this site we did not have much option as most places were fully booked with school holidays.
Very quit lots of touring caravans felt a bit left out with being the only tent. There wasn't any water in paddling pool kids aged 10, 8 and 2 were gutted but the play park was lovely and secure we allowed our 10 year old to supervise the 2 year old on the park no problems there were not many other kids for ours to play with so we had to entertain them a lot witch was unusual as it was the school holidays.
Showers and toilets were lovely loads hot water (free) washing facilities they had a washer and a drier (not very good took ages to dry cloths) There was a pub on site but it didn't open till 9 on a night witch is a bit late to be going out. The pub in the very small village was lovely served nice food and staff were really nice there is a little shop/post office about 10 mins walk from the site that's it you have to travel to Ripon for shops. There is a Morrisons supermarket about 20 mins away.
We went out every day to different places York railway museum was really good (free admission) but it cost you £7 pound to park which wasn't bad as we spent the full day there.
Knarsesbourgh was lovely and on Wednesday it market day (well worth a visit. Harrogate is great for shopping but very big and extremely busy not suitable with 3 young children.
All in all staff on site were lovely, if the pool had been open would have been better for kids, a bit to quite but we made the best of it 3 nights was to long on this site and at £23 pound a night with electric think its a bit expensive

Visted here twice once in 2006 and again in 2007.
The site is ok - the access in from the village is quite tight, sharp left turn into the entrance from the village road, large outfits could struggle I think.
First time we visited with friends who have a tent and we were placed next to each other which was great but we did have a large loud family on the other side in another tent who were noisy until well after midnight! No one came to ask them to be quiet, despite requests.
The toilet and shower blocks are basic - looking a little dated now and I have seen much better.
The play area is ok and the 'paddling pool' was not filled, unless you count the hose running into it at inermittent times, it never got over about six inches deep.
The pub on site was very quiet, the night my hubby went in with our friend, they were the only customers. We ventured up to the other pub in the village and had something to it which was reasonable and fine.
The reason I am a little negative about this site is that this site is expensive for what it has to offer, at £ 26.00 per night for a family of four, elec & awning at what is basically a small field at the back of a village pub, there are nicer sites in the area with better toilet facilities, play areas and pools who are not charging that sort of money.

Another good weekend at this campsite, hasn't changed much in 10 years, a bit like the old days when there weren't many vans on (due to the weather) and we were virtually on our own. Basic showers & toilets, but the site has 'character', behind a pub - drinks only - and 2 mins from another pub which serves meals. Good playground for little uns, fenced off so dogs cant get in.
