Visted here twice once in 2006 and again in 2007.
The site is ok - the access in from the village is quite tight, sharp left turn into the entrance from the village road, large outfits could struggle I think.
First time we visited with friends who have a tent and we were placed next to each other which was great but we did have a large loud family on the other side in another tent who were noisy until well after midnight! No one came to ask them to be quiet, despite requests.
The toilet and shower blocks are basic - looking a little dated now and I have seen much better.
The play area is ok and the 'paddling pool' was not filled, unless you count the hose running into it at inermittent times, it never got over about six inches deep.
The pub on site was very quiet, the night my hubby went in with our friend, they were the only customers. We ventured up to the other pub in the village and had something to it which was reasonable and fine.
The reason I am a little negative about this site is that this site is expensive for what it has to offer, at £ 26.00 per night for a family of four, elec & awning at what is basically a small field at the back of a village pub, there are nicer sites in the area with better toilet facilities, play areas and pools who are not charging that sort of money.

Another good weekend at this campsite, hasn't changed much in 10 years, a bit like the old days when there weren't many vans on (due to the weather) and we were virtually on our own. Basic showers & toilets, but the site has 'character', behind a pub - drinks only - and 2 mins from another pub which serves meals. Good playground for little uns, fenced off so dogs cant get in.

Stayed here for 4 nights in August ( 2 adults and 3 children) The campsite is nice, owners are very friendly however the site is mainly used by static caravans and it felt as though the tents were a bit second best, just a very small field to camp in which isn't particularly flat. Toilets were always clean and because the site has mainly caravans they were usually quiet as well. No shop on site but there is one very close by in the village. The two pubs are very nice, one of them serves lovely food. Play area is good for the children. The paddling pool had no water in however it had been pouring down previously so this could have been why. There is a lot of places to visit nearby (Lightwater Valley, Mother Shiptons Cave) so it is a good base if you want to see more of Yorkshire. Although there wasn't anything wrong with the site I don't know if I would visit it again.

This was a nice site in terms of facilities and grounds, but tents are not really the primary concern here. The camping area is a small patch at the top of the grounds, although we were slotted in between a "permanent" tourer caravan and a large Portakabin-type structure. The numerous statics and the aforementioned permanent tourer caravans made it feel as though we were camping in someone's back garden - not very relaxing for outsiders.

Great site. It doesn't have a shop, but it's only a small walk to one in the village. The two pubs are nice and our toddler enjoyed the paddling pool. It was our first camping trip together as a family and everything went really well - after we realised you couldn't plug a normal 4 way extension into the hook up points! Although the toilets look a bit aged there are two blocks to choose from and they were both clean. My only moan was the cacophany of the dawn chorus - it was like trying to sleep in an aviary! Great base for exploring places such as Ripon, Brinham Rocks, Harrogate, Fountains Abbey etc. We'd go back, but I'd take ear plugs or a scarecrow.!

September 2005 Good location if you want peace and quite. Although I can't really say anything bad about this site it was a bit basic and I have stayed on better ones. I think £20 a night for a tent (2adults & 2kids) is abit steep.
The site is full of static caravans very small area for tents, better site within this area.

June 2005 Wonderful campsite in a secluded spot in the quaint village of Markington. The Proprietors were extremely friendly as were the owners of the static caravans who made us feel very welcome. Brilliant weather allowed children to make the most of the paddling pool and play area. Brilliant weather also allowed for adults to have a few beers in the beer garden of the pub attached to the site! Two sets of toilet blocks. Adequate showers. Fantastic location for exploring the nearby National Trust's Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey and also the town of Ripon. Village shop for essentials and also a Morrisons supermarket a couple of miles down the road. All in all an excellent weekend - will definitely visit this campsite again.

August 2003 A clean and tidy site. Nice setting - surrounded by trees and hedges, most pitches on flat ground. Caravan pitches rather cramped, tents without hook-ups seemed to have more space. Good location to explore Ripon and Harrogate - Brimham Rocks nearby are well worth a visit! Facilities are good and clean, but take your own loo roll - it ran out at the weekend, and the owner didn't seem too bothered - "most campers bring their own!!!!"

May 2002 A beautiful location - not just because it's behind the pub! The toilets and showers are clean and tidy and the water is hot and plentiful. There are the usual wahing-up, laundry, etc. facilities. The site itself is fairly large and accommodates static vans as well as tourers (tents, caravans and RV's). The owners are very friendly and the locals made us feel welcome -whilst walking to the village shop EVERYONE said 'Good morning'. The bird song at this time of year was tremendous - as long as you don't mind being woken at 4.30. We had a peaceful, relaxing and refreshing time and would not hesitate to visit the site again.
