This site is very clean, the toilets and shower block are kept clean and tidy. The showers are free and there was plenty of hot water, there's a laundry room with a freezer for campers to use.
You can get good and reasonably price food from the on site pub which is available from 11. 00am.
There's a regular bus service from outside the site so you can easily visit the surrounding area. The site also as a station for the Welsh High Land Railway.
The only down side I would say was the local cockerels.
We would certainly stay again.

A very good site with the Welsh highland railway station on site. A trip to Beddgelert is well worthwhile as the scenery is A1. There is a bus stop at the site entrance and the service number is S4. The service at best is hourly, but always on time. The bus travels between Caernarfon and Beddgelert, and the times of buses are clearly indicated at the bus stop at the site entrance. The on site pub is excellent, with good food as well. If any improvement, I would like to see a new toilet and shower block, as there are only 3 showers for the gents. I was there when the site was quiet so I can't comment on the busy times. The site was very clean and you don't need an alarm clock the cockerel and cuckoos are spot on in the mornings.

We visited this site as our last camping trip of the 2011 season before the schools returned. Weather was awful but lots to do in the surrounding area and the on-site brew pub was great and family friendly with kids menu, kids room and small play ground outside (with a 1 year old and 3 year old in tow this went down well). The site was fairly quiet, due to the weather probably, but that was fine and meant even more space for playing.
Friendly staff, pitches of a good size and easily accommodated our 6 berth tent with awning and estate car. Water taps and EHU boxes all close to pitches.
Facilities are fairly basic but are clean and adequate. The main wash block is a short walk over the railway bridge - bit of a novelty for us but could be seen as a disadvantage for some. There is a small toilet block in the top field.
The steam railway station is on site - literally! and was a huge draw for us. The children loved running across the field in their wellies to wait for the trains as they heard them whistle their approach - just like the Railway children! The train is reasonably priced I think and our kids loved the journey to Caernarfon to visit the castle.
The nearby town of Bedgelert is beautiful and well worth a visit.
All in all we would recommend this site to families with young children for short breaks as we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Very disappointed with the facilities of this site considering the cost - £18 per night for a small VW camper no electric hook up.
There are two unisex toilets that don't have proper toilet seats but just 'pads'(as you find in some nightclubs and public toilets). As they were unisex every time I used them I had to wipe somebody's urine off! The other toilet block only had two toilets and two very small sinks set right next to each other and needed a code to unlock the door, but at least they had toilet seats!
The showers were new and nice and hot. But this block was so wet with condensation it was running down the walls and dripping from the ceiling. Very cramped in the morning for a wash and there was only two other people in there. My partner thinks the mens showers were the worst he has used on a campsite.
We did book up at very short notice but on arrival we were told to go to a pitch that already had a caravan on it so we had to be moved. This pitch turned out to be the other side of the fence from the resident cockerel. Also it was underneath a tree absolutely infested with wasps, to the point we couldn't even open the door without them flying into the van within seconds. We left after one night.
On the plus side it is unique with the railway running through the site and the food in the pub was good and reasonably priced.

First thing I'll mention are the farm animals. If you are unlucky enough to be pitched non-electric on pitches 23, 24, 25 be aware you are in close proximity to Noah's Arc. We discovered this at 0415am when Fog Horn Leg Horn's cock-a-doodle awoke us, followed closely by his mates Goosey Goosey Gander, Daffy Duck, dogs, sheep (or maybe goats) and seagulls all up at the crack of dawn making one hell of a noise which goes on for most of the morning. These are literally 10 yards from the tents and you can see the barn through the fence. These pitches are 5 yards from the road which all though not that busy the cars are quite loud as they pass. The EHU pitches are further away but the site is not that big so the noise would only fade slightly at the furthest point I reckon.
Anyway, if you prepare for the noise in the am , this is quite a nice little site, quite unique in its set up. As you'll read in other reviews, a steam train runs through the site which only adds the the sites appeal, no negatives about this. 2 Unisex toilets in main field, bit weird, the showers are over the railway bridge in t'other field, 2 showers and another 2 toilets in mens. These are clean and tidy, though, bit cramped and warm. Good free shower facilities hot water a plenty. PotWash facilities excellent, 2 sinks with hot water, 2 washing machines and fridge freezer in same room looked good but we never used them. Nice views of mountains but photos on website are a little exaggerated. Lovely home brewed ale in pub, generous portions of tasty food, and we found the staff friendly and helpful offering samples of all 4 ales for me to taste.
The pitches were fine and flat nicely spaced. Site ideally placed for touring the local area, Snowdon, Bedgellert ( which is lovely )and Portmadoc. Midges are a bit of a problem if you wish to sit outside your tent.

Visited site last weekend and stayed for two nights. Overall the site is clean and tidy with good facilities and beautiful views.
Pros:
Lovely views
Narrow gauge steam railway runs through site.
Attractive river runs next to site and is suitable for paddling in hot weather
Dog friendly.
Cons:
Staff were unhelpful when checking in.
Pub on site is very 1970's with overpriced food which was basic but plentiful.
Site is boggy in places with stony ground making it hard to pitch tent.
Camping fees expensive.
Overall: The campsite and location are very good but a bit over priced, the pub itself is okay but nothing special.

This site has beautiful views and is well situated for walking into the hills & visiting the coast. It has a steam train station on the site - the train line goes through the site but is not disruptive - it is quite nice to go and watch the train and wave at those on it. There is also a bus stop outside the site entrance.
Caernarfon is a short drive away with everything you could need shop-wise, and it also has a lovely harbour and fantastic castle. In fact, get our and explore as much as you can as the whole area is fabulous.
There is a stream/river at the bottom of the site and when the weather was nice people were in the water enjoying themselves.
The facilities were clean all the time. The top field has two unisex toilets and the bottom field has 2 ladies cubicles and 3 ladies showers (not sure how many gents) which was fine when we were there as it was not full, but may involve queuing during peak times. The showers were lovely and hot. We did find it frustrating that they have codes on the doors to start with but soon got used to it.
The marked pitches were narrower than we are used to, but it may just seem like this as you put your car in front of your unit instead of to the side. It wasn't a problem, although clarity of where the pitches start and end would be good.
Our only real negative was that we did feel the brewpub was a little unfriendly. There were regulars/some workmen who obviously live on site during the week in there who made a few unnecessary comments (but it was late and they were probably beered up) and to be honest we felt a little second rate when it came to service with a smile compared to how the regulars were dealt with. But, I wouldn't let this put you off the site as as a whole as its a lovely site and we would recommend it.
If you do go here and are towing a caravan, we would recommend you use the A5/B4366/A4085, rather than the A5/A4086/A498/A4085 unless you are a very confident tower as it was a busy day when we attempted it and it was very hard work due to the number of other vehicles on the top end of the narrow and windy A4085 (ok at the bottom end near the site).

We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Snowdonia Parc campsite. The location is beautiful - mountains galore and really handy for seaside and walking, climbing etc.
We had booked to go with friends, who were unable to come due to illness. We arrived and were told they didn't do refunds on bookings. So our friends who didn't come camping had the pleasure of paying £44 for the privilege.
It was pouring with rain when we arrived, so our priority was to get the tent up asap and get our young children sorted. I had requested a space near the facilities as we had small children - we were as far away as we could possibly have been from the showers and wash-up room.
We won't go back I'm afraid: too expensive at £22 per night, facilities well below what you'd expect when paying such a sum, small pitches and we were right next to the road and unhelpful proprietor who won't give refunds on booking. If you do go - don't book in advance!

I have to say when my husband booked this I was a bit disappointed as I like camping with no access to TV etc and the idea of a pub on hand filled me with dread especially as I knew there were some key footie matches coming up! BUT this is an excellent camp site.
The facilities where kept in very good order even when the camp site filled up and more people were using them. The ladies on the overflow field had 2 toilets and 3 very good showers. Each time I used them there was a plentiful supply of hot water. All facilities were free. There was also a freezer where you could store food and freeze your ice blocks along with access to a washing machine.
Even though the campsite is right by a road I hardly noticed any traffic noise while I was there. The views from the overflow area were very good and part of the bottom of the overflow edges a stream. The steam train that passes through the camp site is no problem, and minimally intrusive. We were in the overflow field and the pitches were more than adequate with the ground being quite flat. The pitches in the overflow are not marked but in the main filed I noticed they were and there were more electric hookups in the main field. We did go to the pub for a pint of the beer brewed at their own brewery each night. As the weather was so good we had BBQ's each night and so did not sample the food. I did look at the menu and it was standard pub fare, the meals I saw served looked very substantial and to be fair the prices were OK too.
The weather we had was glorious, I don't think I have had such good weather in North Wales before, especially in April. I recommend paying for the trip up Snowdon on the train (that is if you are rotund like me and no tfit enough to walk up) it was worth every penny! We also caught the Welsh Highland railway from the campsite to Pont Croesor where you can visit the RSPB hide to view the Osprey nesting. She is currently sitting on 3 eggs which should hatch next month. This is free of charge and when you get to Pont Croesor you have a good 30 minutes to walk over and get back to the train.
I would definitely recommend this campsite and also hopefully will return there

This was my first ever camping trip and I thoroughly loved it. The campsite was nice with clean facilities. The site is split in two by a steam train track and the station is on the campsite. This sounds dreadful but is completely the opposite. The train is a quaint old steam train which runs two or three times a day and never early in the morning or late at night.
The views are picturesque with the mountains as the backdrop, and most things are a few minutes away by car.
There is lots to do in the surrounding area from climbing Mount Snowdon to visiting castles and museums. The site is clean, although I would prefer the rear field as there was less children and the facilities were also in this field.
There is a pub/restaurant on site, which does reasonable food. There is a stream that runs along the bottom of the rear field and in August there was plenty of midges, so you need repellent.
I have no complaints about this site and would go back again, next time for a longer stay, as there is plenty to do with lots of lovely walks.
There were three showers and two toilets and sinks in the female facilities and the showers were hot and free with no timer, I assume there was the same setup in the mens facilities.
The food prep area had two sinks and there was a freezer for ice blocks. A washing machine, dryer and iron were available for a fee, you had to purchase tokens to use them from the pub.
