We stayed over the Easter weekend and had a fab time, especially as we had good weather.
We will be returning to this site as soon as we get the chance, hopefully May. The site, although busy, was extremely quiet with good size pitches that are well kept. The showers were always hot and clean, likewise the toilets. We never had to wait to use any of the facilities.
Good size field to walk the dog in.
Gwen and Matthew were very friendly and helpful which makes a nice change to some of the sites we have stayed at!
We would recommend Mill Bay which is approx. 6 miles from the site.
If you like seafood, The Cricket Inn is the place to go and is only a mile from the site.

We have just returned from 2 weeks camping in south Devon and thought Old Cotmore Farm was by far the best site we stayed on. The owners Gwen and Matthew were more than friendly and helpful, the site facilities (toilets and hot showers) were very good and the environment very peaceful. The site is ideally located for coastal path walking, giving good access to the area between Dartmouth and Salcombe (and by ferry beyond). There is an excellent range of good pubs, many with live music, all accessible by bike - an added bonus, if you can manage the odd Devon hill! Would recommend the Cricket Inn at Beesands for food if you like fresh fish.

Been meaning to write on this to recommend the fantastic Cotmore Farm. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from Gwen & Matthew. The local information and updates on the weather were so helpful, shower / wc / washing / washing up facilities were excellent and the little shop had some very useful bits and pieces. A very family friendly campsite with lots of space for games, providing table tennis and table football.
All very nearby - Start Point Lighthouse, Salcombe with the ferry across and Torcross Fish and Chips at the Start Bay Inn. A lovely pick-your-own nearby with a great organic farm shop. We love this area as there is so much to do and would definitely come back.
Gwen and Matthew came to the rescue when our campervan broke down on the last day of the holiday. Gwen ferried our family (with 3 boys) to the beach for the day and made sure that the AA van had easy access for our long trip back.
So with very approachable and caring campsite owners I would thoroughly recommend it. Even though we had dreadful weather we had a great time.

A really lovely site, nice owners and very attentive. One good thing there about about 1/2 seasonal pitches so made it nice and quiet as there weren't too many people around. Ideal for children, easy to keep an eye on. Good hot showers and sadly especially appreciated the washing machine and dryer! Local area is fab, Start Bay Inn for good fish and chips although be prepared to queue to put your food order in and get there well before 6pm to get a table. Good value for money. The Cricketers at Beesands was really nice food although a little pricey for a family meal with young children. We will definitely be returning next year, possibly for three weeks!

What can I say? Lovely plush mown grass and set in a beautiful area, a warm welcome from Gwen awaits you. From the moment of arrival my dog and I were treated like guests of honour. Was set in a small lawn like area overlooking lovely rape seed fields with sea in the distance. At this time there were mostly caravans here in fact I was the only tent. However there are 3 huge fields out back of the barn which I imagine open up at peak season. All the facilities here are tip-top clean and warm. Lovely walks in the area everywhere. Good cider available from Ashbys Easy Stores off the main road out side Chillington. I had electrical hook up. You would probably want to prebook in the summer to guarantee one if you are in a tent.

Our 3rd visit and would go again, great site and in lovely countryside. Showers were hot and toilets were clean. Quiet site, no local pub that you could walk to, but great pubs in the area. Owners always at hand if you needed them and friendly. The kids enjoyed the Easter egg hunt.

We are a family with two children aged 6 and 8. Last year, we had come for a week with our tent and liked it so much that we decided to come for another week in August this year.
Old Cotmore Farm is a lovely camp site, the fields are sheltered and you get quite a bit of space. There is a slight slope on the two higher fields, however, this can be of advantage as you don’t get flooded. There is a top field for the kids to play ball games and run around and where you get wonderful views over Slapton Sands, Salcombe and all the surrounding hills. The kids also loved the old garage, which has a table tennis table and table football. On the bottom field is a nice little playground for the younger ones, where even our children happily spent many hours.
Washing up facilities are very good, there is a freezer for freezer packs, a washing machine and tumble drier. The shower and toilet block is clean, showers are free, nice and warm.
The owners, Gwen and Matthew are really friendly and helpful, in fact we found that nothing was too much trouble for them. After we had had problems with our ground sheet one night where water had come through some parts, they immediately offered us an old ground sheet, which they even cleaned for us. We really liked the personal touches provided by Matthew and Gwen, such as the fruit, vegetables and flowers from Gwen’s allotment, which she sold for charity. In our opinion, Old Cotmore Farm is ideal for those who are looking for a peaceful, friendly campsite with great views and we are sure to go back again very soon.

The two larger camping field pitches are on a slope, the other reviews for the earlier months are for the caravan field, next to the play area, which is flat. In August they open up the top two fields which slope. We also had very heavy rain while we were there, not owners fault, but owners would not let us drive to our pitches because of churning up the fields.
There is a site shop but it has limited supplies.
The shower facilities were reasonable although in an older, corrugated roof building and there never seemed to be hot water after 9:00 in the morning. You had to pay 20p for the electrical socket in the shower block.
There were only 2 toilets separate from shower block, which were shared for male and female. These were adjacent to main tent fields, the shower block was a bit more of a walk.
The Electric hook-up was sited on the back of a barn. You will need a lead of 25m or more to utilise these (although the owner did offer us an extension if needed).
The other reviews are accurate insofar as the roads to the site are narrow with few passing places, the walk to the Church House Inn not far and very good food although you will need to reserve a table at busy times.
On the plus side, the pitches were double the size of other sites we have been to.
The nearest beach at Beesands is shingle as are Torcross and Slapton - no good for sand castles!
Owner's comments We stopped traffic on the field to avoid accidents. It was so wet cars were sliding, and with children about we thought it a safer option. As readers will be aware, we all suffered extremely wet conditions throughout the 'summer' of 2008
Also please note, the nearest sandy beach is Lannacombe 4 miles or Mill Bay 5 miles.

Just spent some time here at Cotmore Farm. Facilities were clean and tidy and the owners very helpful with local knowledge and maps. It is a very nice quiet site and although it seemed all pitches were used, there weren't many people about. Never had to wait for a toilet or shower, in fact, was by myself everyday.
Unfortunately the shop to order bread and milk described in the leaflet is only available in August, so remember that for the rest of the year you need to get to a shop for groceries. We don't use our van once we've parked up on a site and the nearest shop was quite a walk, a devon mile! and then they had run out of bread! The pubs also reported to be a mile away seemed like a lot more due to the hilly, narrow nature of the roads. We usually cycle everywhere but it was so dangerous in the narrow lanes that we gave up. Even on foot it was dangerous (until we found the nature paths as directed by the owners) and there was only room for a car on the road, we had to back up to the hedgerows to let them pass. If you've got a car then there will be no problems and you'll have a fab time but don't rely on cycling or walking, it's way too hilly.
Coastal path has stunning views but you'll need some good sturdy footwear. A trip to Salcombe (in a car, not on a bike like us) is well worth a look.
We will return one day when we've seen some more of the country, especially for the beach fishing at Beesands where there is a pub serving good food with a very steep walk back to walk off what you've eaten.

Stayed previously in November 07 in Daisy's cottage for a weekend away, great welcome and well looked after, fantastic pubs nearby especially the Cricket. The garden was much bigger than expected with plenty of room for the dog. Enjoyed it so much we returned in April in the motorhome.
Highly recommended for couples, families and dogs!
