We chose Old Cotmore Farm to use as a base for us to walk the South west coastal path for this area,
Gwen & Matthew gave us a really warm welcome.
The site is on a slope, so if you can live with it, it's great.
There is a very basic communal loo block by the tents site & a nicer shower & loo block near the caravan site.
The shower water temperature was very varied daily during our stay, from very hot to almost tepid. But the hot water is included in your site fees.
This website shows no caravans on the units accepted, Old Cotmore has one site for caravans & one for tents / motorhomes & I feel this needs correcting.
There is a very regular bus service going through the village of Stokenham, hourly, which we made use of, but the lanes from the campsite to the village are very narrow and walking them is a risk.
All in all a very beautiful area with good facilities.

A mixed bag which didn't quite live up to the reviews I'd read from 2013. A site which definitely offers decent size pitches and is quiet. Fellow campers were polite with no noise at night. Camping field is on a slope but nothing too extreme. Basic shop facility available between 9-10am. However the standard of facilities for the prices charged are not realistic.
Sadly the spotless toilets from previous reviews are missing. Beware that the primary wash and toilet facilities are located in the caravan field. The only facility of two toilets located by the camping fields are unisex which can be off putting. The main toilet and shower block are basic. Some wash basins have no hot water working and no plugs in all. Unfortunately drainage in showers is not ideal as water runs from cubicle to cubicle covering you as it passes through. There is plenty of hot water but beware as it is often too hot to wash kids. If you happen to arrive during the cleaning time of 1130-1pm you can use the disable washroom. However this needs attention as the wet room does not drain and therefore any disable person stepping into the room can expect a boot full of water! Also storage of old brooms and mops together with an old plastic chair could make disabled users feel quite unwelcome.
Sadly the games room is rather unloved. Table football and a table tennis table are situated in a barn. However no bat or balls available and area does not seem to have been swept or cleaned in a very long time. For young children the slide and swing are only positioned in the caravan area so not ideal if you in the camping area.
I am use to both basic camping and sites with all the perks. However felt we were paying for simple facilities that could do with a bit more attention and proper cleaning!

Just back from 3 nights at this campsite. It more than lived up to my expectations - peaceful, lots of space, friendly owners and other campers, and lots to see and do in the area (ran out of time!).
The owners were very friendly and helpful and showed us personally to our pitch, pointing out all the main facilities along the way.
We were given a (very gently sloping) pitch in the second tent field, backing onto the very tall hedgerow, which nicely sheltered us from the SW winds that picked up towards the end of our stay. Huge pitch, the only downside (with a young child) being it was right next to the car entry/exit point to the field. However, there was little traffic coming and going at all (infact we were the last back each night anyway) so it didn't bother/worry us. There was also some road noise from this end of the field, but again nothing to really be a nuisance.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't totally with us, there was heavy rain all night the first night and then again nearly all day on our third day - but this just showed the field had good drainage as the ground dried very quickly around the tent.
The facilities are good and clean and the nearest washing facilities to the tent fields are very educational if your children like moths and creepy crawlies (as our daughter does!). The showers were not very warm when we used them but I think we just got there too late in the morning! Our tent pitch was the furthest of everyone away from the facilities, but it wasn't a hugely long walk and it meant we could say hello/nosey at the other tents along the way ;-)
Only negative (on behalf of my 6y old) was that the swings/slide were a long way away (in the caravan field) and so she wasn't able to go and play on them other than for a few minutes when some friends she'd made were there and Daddy could drop her off while he did some washing up.
Lovely area - lots of great pubs and beaches. The Pig's Nose a favourite with my daughter and I on the rainy/sea-misty night we had - very atmospheric! We will definitely return to the site, hopefully for longer and hopefully with more sunny days, so we can explore some more.

Our second visit to this quiet, family friendly camp site in a beautiful location. 2 adults with 2 children aged 9 and 12.
Staff could not have been more helpful. Facilities were rustic but always clean. Stunning location and well placed for the amazing beaches in the surrounding area, with pubs close by (food at the Cricket Inn was a highlight). Tesco and Morrisons are in near by Kingsbridge to stock up but a there is also a small site shop selling the essentials and local produce, we can recommend the bacon!.
We will definitely be returning again soon!

We stayed at Cotmore Farm last August, the welcome from qwen and her husband was very good. We had a lovely pitch, my husband gets 1 week off a year and just needs to relax. We had 4 children with us and could just go off and enjoy this beautiful place. This place is all about camping not GLAMPING, so the showers are not all that but { hey ho never mind} you are camping.
We are going back this year as we prefer the non commercial sites and friendly banter, the kids like it as they can ride their bikes and have fun, other sites restrict bikes, scooters and so on. Gwen and her husband were very helpful and informed us of where we could find the best sea fishing, and other attractions, people are getting too snobby about what to expect. I think some people expect too much these days We have decided to go back to OLD COTMORE farm again this August as we know we get value for money. FAB PLACE TO VIST,

The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Showers were, in my opinion not good enough, often only just luke warm, the shower/toilet block was clean. The campsite was quiet at night. The pitches were of a good size. Many of the tent pitches are on quite a severe slope, we were on one which lead to uncomfortable nights sleep. The campsite is down extremely narrow lanes, not fit for walking along; without a car this camp site is, in effect, closed off; so if you like to have a few glasses of wine and to go for a walk this site is pretty much a no no.
Lovely views of open fields on the caravan side of the site, the tent side you will be looking at hedges or a rather ugly corrugated iron building (although it is painted green). It is a shame because the hedges obscure some good views (on the dog walking area, there are clear views of the sea).

I camped for a few days at Old Cotmore Farm with my dog. Reviews suggested it was a friendly place and I noticed women had camped alone, so for me it seemed fine and safe. I do however question why a single person camping is charged the same amount as two or more. £17 pounds a night (cash only!) for a single person who uses less facilities: water, wc etc seems excessive. When I suggested to the owner that perhaps he might in the future consider a price for single people, he was indifferent, suggesting that that was the way it was. Certainly I will not return to his field and will share this with other friends considering the west country. It is a shame that the attitude of management can influence the whole camping experience.

Armed with a list of camps taking dogs I telephoned them and chose Old Cotmore Farm because it was the smallest in the area I wanted, the cheapest and with the people who sounded the friendliest. Once there I often congratulated myself on my choice: from our tent we could only see field and sky. The whole camp (consisting in two fields and a third one to exercise the dogs) is very clean including the two toilet areas and the showers.
As facilities go and most conveniently it has an always clean and tidy area to wash vegetables and do the washing up. Even better, freezers to re-freeze the ice containers. It also have washing machine and tumble dryers although we did not use them. And a pin pong table! If you run out of cereal you can always run to the shop which stores essentials and is open for one hour in the morning.
But what makes the camp what it is, it's the owners. They are always friendly and available to answer queries and give useful advice on local places to visit or amenities (where to buy rubber shoes for the shingle beaches or where to find an ATM machine for example). They also keep a discreet but close eye on the camp; you might find her walking her dog in the morning or him cutting the grass in the afternoon and I have seen him given a ride to a lucky child in his vast grass cutting automobile. Their thoughtfulness shows in small details such as putting fresh cut flowers in the lady's showering area or magazines (tidy and in good state); even hand cream. Or having laminated A4 sheets on the walls of the washing up area with information of interest such as best restaurants, local beaches and how to get there, emergency numbers too. As well as a folder left permanently in this area from which you can borrow sheets when you go exploring the surroundings.
If I had to find a negative point it would be that the field is on a slight incline but that seems to be the case in many of the camps in the area as it is hilly.
It is a lovely camp run by lovely people in an area of stunning natural beauty where there is lots to do: surfing, ferry trips, castle visits and more.

We have just returned from our sixth visit to Old Cotmore Farm. The owners make you very welcome from the moment you arrive and nothing is too much trouble. We love this site because it is set in beautiful countryside half way between Dartmouth and Salcombe which is perfect for us to visit all of our favourite beaches etc. If you like smaller sites which are still family friendly Old Cotmore Farm is perfect. The toilet and shower block are always clean and tidy and have free showers -the water can be a little hot for smaller children at times but we found using the family bathroom helps. The site has a small playground which is centrally located allowing you to keep an eye of them whilst they play. Washing up/Laundry room has everything you need. We will be returning in July and are already counting down the days!
