This site is great. It has a playground for the children (although basic) is safe and well set out. This site also has a tv and games room for the children
We stayed there for 4 nights and will definitely be returning again this year for the elvis festival.
A cheap place which is good for what the site offers, hot water, showers and dish washing facilities.
The surrounding areas are great, lots of beaches, a fairground and lots to keep the kids entertained.
The people who run it are always very friendly which is one of the reasons we will be returning again.

This is our 2nd time of coming here now mainly due to it's handiness for us to be able to access Bridgend from there when we follow the Rugby League team we support play there. And the fact there are so few campsites around here?
The site is mainly a caravan site with the majority of those permanent tenants from the length of the grass growing around a lot of the caravans. There is one field just as you enter the site for tents although the outer side has EHU and is mainly used by caravans though tents are allowed a EHU spot for £2.50 p.N. Extra. The field is pretty much flat and whilst it had a few mud issues following sustained rain it actually drained quite well.
The toilet block is not as modern as all the other sites we've been to. It's basic was cleaned daily and had hot water for the showers. A minor grip could be that the water in the utensil room didn't seem to get as hot as the showers for some reason. It would also help if they had the use of a freezer and fridge for those without EHU.
The shop area looked small and stocked but as I didn't use can't really comment on it.
The village of Nottage is a 5 min walk away with some nice pubs which all do food plus a little village store and off licence. Porthcawl is slightly further and is a nice little seaside resort which does cracking fish and chips :-p
It's an adequate site for our needs until we can find something better. Though unless someone starts a new site up that may be a long time coming.

The shop is in the booking area , had a few beers, choc bars, cans of pop ,etc (good thing is you can not spend a lot of money in it)
Pitch was okay - plenty of space for caravan, awning and car (we even had extra small van
Toilets- NOT NICE - unclean and by the Saturday had to take own toilet roll in . Shower - Not clean - I had the pleasure of meeting the resident cockroach on one occasion
Quite quiet in the evening for the weekend though
A lot of caravans there, which obviously are static there. (little gnomes in the gardens!)
Good points- very local to the beach
Pretty basic unclean site and charges are too much for what the site offers

Headed out to Porthcawl as soon as the first ray's of summer sun came through the clouds with 2 Cabin fevered children and a friend. Came across Brodawel on the main road into Porthcawl as it was well sign posted. A reasonable size site with a quoted 125 pitches, although most of these have permanent caravans on them. It's a 5 minute drive from the beach and has 3 pubs within 15 minutes walking distance. We paid £20 per night for a medium sized tent with 2 adults and 2 children. The owners were very friendly and showed us to our pitch and pointed out the toilets, showers and shop. The toilets were your usual run-of-the-mill camp site sort. A little aged and tired but cleaned daily (could do with twice daily) and hot/cold running water. They are poorly signed so be careful to find the right one!
The shower block had several showers which were free and worked well. There is a "child's play area" which consisted of an empty sand pit, a see-saw and a small climbing frame situated in the centre of the field. Contrary to other reviews here, I didn't rate this at all. The shop was poorly stocked when we visited:- almost empty. It had milk and biscuits and 14 cans of warm beer. As there are no shops nearby the shop could be a great little earner if stocked. When I enquired if they stocked any camping gas canisters I was told "not at this time of year no"?? You may have more luck in January! There are 3 pubs withing 15 minutes walking distance and some good food to be had there. There was very little monitoring of the site at anytime and you have to just put up with it if you happen to have 50 bikers turn up and have a late night session.
All in all for a basic site such as this I would have expected to pay around £10-£12 a night so not great value. There doesn't appear to be a lot of sites around this area and I suspect the owners are capitalising on this fact.

Stayed here for a week people are friendly and site is level, very basic site not much to do shop is well stocked tho the toilets are not very nice and not very clean they need to have an overhaul. Owners of site are friendly but do not monitor the site well we had music ans karaoke till 12.30pm and none patrolled the area. Good children's play area. A little over priced for what the site offers. On the whole OK site but dose need to be updated and cleaned regally would go back if updated.

1992 to 2003 visiting again july 04 To all concerned this campsite has held many a great and memorable time in porthcawl. We have been visiting this site as a family 11/12 YRS. We have also visited with friends. The price is right for what the site offers. You really have to visit the site to feel the atmosphere, the family run site is very friendly there are amenities to suit the young and young at heart. I close this section with a big thanks to all at brodawel.

July2003 Very basic site showers and toilets not very clean and only one shower situated in toilets. Were overcharged and ended up paying nearly 100.00 for four nights which might not sound much but it is a lot for such a basic site. Enjoyed break but we will definitely not return

July 2003 A nice little campsite, but very little to do, no on site pub - but there are two situated about 10 minutes walk away. Great playground for the children and also pool table and arcade to keep them busy. A general store and off licence on site, which came in handy. Only one shower in the toilets and pretty basic facilities. Nice flat campsite and quite spacious weather was good and the stay enjoyable. A perfect campsite if you are just going for a short break..
