We stayed here over the May bank holiday(2 adults no children). What a lovely site. We said we would be at campsite by 19:30, but got ever so delayed in traffic. We called the Owners and were told, it was fine, we can't help the traffic and to drive carefully. Even though we turned up at 9pm, there was a friendly welcome and all the help we needed.
The campsite grounds are immaculate. There are lots of leafets in Reception to help you plan your holiday. The toilets/showers were just perfect. Always warm and always always clean. There is also the use of hairdryers for 20p.
The pot was area, again, was always clean with hot water available.
I cannot speak highly enough about the campsite wardens (Dave and Barbara) - they were so helpful to us throughout the stay.
Its a great site for visiting the coast and York. We had a lovely time and will be back!

Visited this site this weekend. The reviews at the back end of 2011 mentioned dated toilets. They have obviously been updated over the winter as they are now superb, warm and tidy.
The staff were friendly and helpful especially as the site was very very wet due to a week of heavy rain.
Ideal for north York, Park & Ride about 15 minutes away by car, would definitely stay again.
There is a small swing and slide which kept our three year old happy for long enough, might not be great for older children. The site was quite busy but didn't feel particularly cramped.
The chip van on Saturday night was worth waiting for.

Found this site a bit dated, although the toilet and shower block had been revamped and were really excellent. The hardstandings were very small and because of the heavy rain the site was pretty wet and it was difficult to get onto your pitch without going on the grass, which didn't go down to well with the warden. We would have liked to have a better choice of pitches, as the site wasn't nearly full, but we were offered only a choice of 2. Very handy for the park and ride to York. Shame about the weather which curtailed our visit to the city as we would have liked to see more.

Enjoyed a lovely 3 days at this club site. Very friendly owners who couldn't do enough to help.
Children loved exploring and playing on the play area and soon made new friends. We were situated on the edge of the site which was sheltered by trees and overlooking a field of sheep!
We used the toilets and shower facilities and although they looked a little dated were very clean. Also used the washing-up room. This is a great site for exploring York.
We used the park and ride which was very reasonably priced - it was situated a few miles up the road and took you into York centre.
Enjoyed a full day visiting York Minster, The National Railway Museum and The Shambles and the next day went to Castle Howard all well worth while.
We didn't eat out but there are pubs/restaurants and shops nearby. There was also a chippy van that visited a few times a week.
Outside the reception were lots of leaflets of places to visit and things to do. We will definitely be returning.

We stayed here for 5 nights in our Folding Camper. Visited with friends and were given adjacent pitches as requested. Helpful wardens on arrival and when we had problems with our gas connector.
Very clean and tidy site. Toilet block was clean and adequate if basic. The whole site is due for refurbishment and electric upgrade over the winter. Chips from van were very nice.
Basic play area but not ideal if you want to keep kids occupied all day. It is a rural location and you will need the car to go anywhere. Some nice local pubs within short drive.
We visited Eden Camp and the aircraft museum, also shopped at Monks Cross, all very good. Very good park and ride from monks cross into York.
Would definitely go again.

Stayed here in a tent on an un-serviced pitch for three nights with a young family.
We received a warm welcome and were shown to our pitch. Normally I like to be able choose my own pitch and on this occasion were we were given a choice of two or three.
The toilet block may be dated compared to some parks these days but they were clean and in good working order. An additional shower would be an advantage but we only had one occasion when one of us had to wait for a shower so I really don’t see it as an issue.
The children's’ play area is centrally located on the site which means it can be seen from most of the pitches which I liked. There are only a couple of swings and a small slide so if you had older children and your intention is to let them amuse themselves at the play park all day this may not be an ideal choice of site.
Despite being there over a weekend during the schools holidays the site did quieten down in the evening which we like.
We didn’t explore much of the local area or have cause to use the on-site shop as we there for such a short time and were visiting friends in the area. However if you were looking for a site to use as a base to explore York and the surrounding area this is a good site to base yourself at.

This is a lovely site, we have just got back from a 5 night stay. My inlaws met us there and were far earlier than we were, so the site staff made them very welcome with a cup of tea. Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble for them, including resetting our electrics as they kept blowing, but the upgrade to higher amps will sort that out, which is being done at the end of this season to make it an all season pitch.
I would definitely use again, we had 3 children who were able to find plenty to amuse themselves with, between playing at the playground, or searching for frogs and wildlife.
Fantastic base for exploring York, use the park and ride, amazing value and no hassle trying to drive through york and find parking spaces, my children thought the bus journey was the best part of the holiday!
The toilet blocks do only have 3 showers, all working when we were there, and I had to wait a couple of minutes each time I used it, however the site was very busy, so I don't think it was a problem.
There are 5 toilets in each block, not 3 as someone else has suggested, and I never had to wait to use one of those. This fish van was lovely, but get in the queue early or you will have a long wait!
I would definitely revisit this site again in the future, it is just lovely!

This is a very nice site. The grounds are very well maintained and the grass is kept short, the staff are very helpful and friendly.
The shower block is very cleaned and the showers are one of the best I have used at a campsite. The shop is stocked with basic essentials and has fresh farm eggs.
The location is within driving distance of a village which has a very nice pub called the Ship where the food is of a high standard, you can also park here to get the bus into York.
I would stay here again.

Just had a weekend here the site location was good but this has to be the worst site I have ever been to.
The facilities very run down, electric kept tripping so couldn't have anything on. The play area was a joke one swing and one slide. The fresh water was disgusting.
The on site attendant wasn't friendly and had quite an attitude ,no customer service skills at all. The chip van had nice food but a bit expensive.
I would stay clear of this site it was half empty in July so that says it all really.

Our first camping trip for ten years! We stayed just two nights in our new tent. The site is flat and well laid out. I would give the Fish & Chip van a miss, everything was overcooked.
During our stay the site wasn't full, however, I could imagine that, with just three toilets there might be queues forming at busy holiday times.
Toilets were clean though, showers were lacklustre in performance, staff were friendly enough, but our issue was with the noisy wildlife Owls, wood pigeons, very noisy crows and sheep kept us awake. 4am was a particularly bad time of day! Other than that, we'd visit again
