Can only agree with the comments already expressed, the site was lovely with helpful staff with the only downside being the fact that there were no walks from the actual site.

This was our first ever trip in our caravan so we were both a little nervous, once we arrived everything seemed to fall into place, the site is a great little gem with very easy access, pulled up outside reception to be greeted with a smile and hello, paid our money and was told to drive round where he would meet us, (my heart started to go as this would be the first time I would have reversed over 13k of anything, but he guided me back no problem--Thankyou!
Site is excellent, toilets brill/spotless. Will use again.

Site to the usual high standard of a C&CC Site. Very clean and tidy surroundings, well trimmed grass areas and well kept road and hardstandings.
Toilet blocks while a little older than some we have used were very clean and well maintained. There were only 6 showers in total, 3 ladies, 3 gents, but never had a real problem even over a busy weekend.
Baker & Fish & Chip units visit the site on a regular basis through the week which is helpful as the site is not within a short walking distance of any shops.
Very well situated for visits to both York, (with excellent Park and Ride schemes from the northern outskirts) and to the north for Helmsley, Thirsk, Malton and the southern edges of the North Yorkshire Moors. A number of NT properties locally and other attractions such as Castle Howard.
The weekend we visited was following a number of days of solid rain. On arrival the site was wet and the grassed area were holding water, but as soon as the rain stopped these dried out very quickly.
Negatives - No-where to really to walk from the site, you needed to take the care to go anywhere.
We enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

1. Not good if you have an energetic dog to exercise. Dog walk is a tiny paddock too small to throw a ball in. Otherwise on a lead along the main road verge. For this reason the site we won't return for a longer than a stop-over.
2. I hated the high voltage electricity cables crossing over part of the site, and the close proximity of the pylons. Houses cannot be built below such cables, but we were given a pitch directly underneath. I asked to move: if that had not been possible, we would have left.
3. The grass was very soft after rain - best to get a hard stand if you have a big unit. We watched someone in an enormous new motorhome carving a rut with the wheelspin - even our little van had difficulty getting off the grass.
4. Beningborough (I may have spelt that incorrectly) is a National Trust place quite nearby, worth a visit: part of the National Portrait collection is there, but it's well explained and good fun for children. Good gardens and home-grown food in the restaurant.
We won't be back, largely due to those pylons and high voltage cables. There are plenty of other sites in the area to try (especially Certificated Club Sites).

The toilet blocks were clean and tidy but have no heating, so beware in the cooler months, otherwise very good.
There is a playground in the middle of the site which you can see from most pitches, therefore good to let the little ones have some supervised freedom.
The pitches are good with appropriate space between them. The site warden takes you to your pitch and directs you with military precsion where he wants you, very frendly though.
The surroundings are great but I think it would have been better had there been a footpath into Sheriff Hutton from the site. Sheriff Hutton didn't have a lot to offer. York and all its attractions can be reached via park and ride approx 5 miles away.

This is a superb campsite. It is very flat, and reasonably open plan. It does have the odd tree and the odd hedge, so if you do require a private pitch, there's some there for you.
There is a big playing feild in the middle of the site, and the children seem to enjoy it.
Toilets are spotless and up to the usual high standard of the caravan and camping club.
The Staff were ace - laid back, happy to help, full of advice.
Nearby there are some small villages that boast pubs, restaurants, takeaways and even a small supermarket.
The chip van that comes during the weeks is very good value and well worth having a meal from.
The park and ride into york is a short drive away.
The only down side to this car is that it is in the middle of no-where, so if you do fancy (say) a pint, you will have to take the car.

The toilet blocks were clean and tidy but consisted of only 3 showers, 2 of which no one I knew could turn on! Not only that, there were only one private washbasin and one public one. Other than that, you were expected to use the hand washing facilities! To add to all that, me and my sister found a swallows nest in the ladies which may explain why we had a collection of birds flying around us whenever we used the toilet or shower facilities!
The playground was fine but a little too small, consisting of only a slide, 1 swing and 1 junior swing. It could have been bigger but it was decent.
The pitches were fine with appropriate space between them, although some were grass pitches. I think it would have been better for all of them to be hardstandings but you can understand why they can't do that as it caters for camping too.
Do not arrive early! My grandparents arrived before 12.00 on the day of arrival and was fined £5 each adult and they were only 15 minutes early!
The surroundings are great but I think it would have been better had there been a footpath into Sheriff Hutton from the site. Sheriff Hutton didn't have a lot to offer, but we enjoyed a nice walk around and took pictures of the castle. York has lots to do and see for all age categories even if you like picnics by the riverside!
All in all, I think its not a very nice site but nice to use as a base for York.

After my sat nav taking me up a wrong lane. We finally arrived and unpacked my new outwell montana tent. Easy to put up so that was one less thing to stress over. The site is clean and tidy as you would expect from a c&c site. Can be a bit noisy with children if pitched near the park but thats what children do. Clean and tidy. Good park and ride close by to get into York . Also next to park and ride Asda and Sainsburys for provisions. There is also a leisure centre on the retail park which may be a good place to go on a wet day. Chip van tours site on most evenings as well as a bakers van. Very usefull. Ice blocks can be frozen in the shop which sells some small provisions but no daily newspapers. Would love to go again and with luck we will.

Camping and Caravan club site, clean tidy. Site small play area. Chip van Bakers van goes around site on certain evenings which can be use full. Sheriff hutton a good walk from site. 4 miles away there is a park and ride usefull for getting into York. Next to this is also a retail park and indoor pool. Also large Asda for stocking up supplies. We would go back but I think this side could get busy in high season.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Quiet site with a very small childrens' play area.Welcome by the 'Site Manager' was excellent. There had been heavy rain but the toilet blocks were kept extremely clean. The grass pitches became a little too soft but fortunately we had booked a hardstanding. Great location for a break. York is only a 15 minute journey to the park and rides. A visit to the National Railway Museum and the 'Yorkshire Eye' are a must. We will visit again especially at less than £12 per night for 6 people.
