The site is a bit of a hotch-potch, with all sorts of units a little crammed in, but it's a taste of down-to-earth Yorkshire. The owner is a typical Yorkshire character, very welcoming and full of northern banter.
Located next to the canal, and on the edge of Gargrave, which has shops and pubs within walking distance.
Skipton is a few miles away, and is worth a visit. Gargrave is on the southern fringes of the Dales, so these can be investigated from the site.

Really friendly and welcoming small site in Gargrave, a village close to Skipton and in a great spot for visiting the Yorkshire Dales.
The site is next to the Leeds Liverpool canal but touring pitches are situated around a green which is close to a road (not busy) and a rural industrial unit. Neither bothered us at all.
The shower block is not the newest but they were very clean, the water hot with plenty of force and best of all, not timed! Television extension aerial leads are loaned free of charge and we could receive all the digital Freeview channels.
Skipton is close by, as are Bolton Abbey, Ilkley, Harrogate etc. Across the road is the Leeds Liverpool canal complete with a lock and pretty towpath.
Take the path next to it and a 5 min walk will take you to village centre with a decent supermarket, post office and a fish & chip shop. All in all a great site at a very reasonable cost.

We loved this little site. When we first got there we were a bit worried as it looked as though the touring caravans were crammed in. After settling in it became clear that this is not an issue - it just added to the lovely, friendly, easy going atmosphere.
We were up against the side of the building and the owner (lovely man) brought us a TV cable to plug into the TV sockets on the building wall, next to the power supply! The canal is lovely.
We went for walks into Gargrave and sat for ages by the canal locks watching a succession of lovely boats go through - very relaxing, and what friendly people.
We are going back again for a week next time, and we'll visit Skipton, Newby Hall and a few other easy to reach places while we're there. Really nice site, highly recommended.

We visited on a Bank Holiday weekend and the owner, Cobby, went out of his way to fit us in and is very friendly.
The tent field is small and next to a road but there's not much traffic at night. Most of the site is taken up by static caravans. The toilets and showers were fine but the shower block was locked in the morning. We left at 8am, so no idea what time they opened it. There is a games room with books and games.
The village is very nice, about ten minutes walk from the site. If the pub is full and the weather warm and sunny (as it was when we were there) go to the pretty village green by the river and take a picnic.

We have just spent a fabulous few days at this little gem of a camp site. There were 5 of us and 2 small dogs. We were made to feel very welcome and the elderly couple than run / own the site were very helpful and friendly. We were using our caravan for the first time and had no problems setting up or being shown the site facilities. The location is great as it is right by the Leeds / Liverpool canal so watching the canal boats go by was quite wonderful.
The site is very clean. Well kept and maintained and there are plenty of facilities for the size of the site.
You are just a 5 minute stroll from the centre of the town Gargrave and all the local shops, pubs, take aways and post office. Even some little hidden tea rooms for those of you without children and prefer a nice quiet relaxing time.
We will definitely be going back. Some seasonal pitches are available for tourers but there is a waiting list. Not surprising as it is such a fabulous location.
Skipton is 4 miles away by car or a 10km walk(apox) along the scenic canal tow path.
There is not a children's play area but my children (10, 11, 14) had a fab time playing with some other children on the site and trying to fish off the canal, feeding the duck and swans and watching the canal boats going through the locks. Not bad as we have no TV, though there are ariel sockets at the hook ups for those of you that have.

We chose this site because of its location on the Southern edge of the Dales and because it is open all year. This small site is mainly for statics (incl. permanently pitched tourers) but there is a small area for tourers and tents. Being out-of-season we were able to pitch well away from everyone.
The owner was very friendly and both the toilet and the washing-up facilities were clean. We were warned (when booking) that the showers would have be switched off for frozen-pipe protection if it was cold: we had nights of -6 to -8 degrees C and so never got to see the site's showers!
One side of the site is the canal, two sides are fields, but the one nearest the touring pitches is the back of an industrial unit. However, it was quiet when we were there (the unit was in operation but there were no audible phones as mentioned in other reviews) and the situation is unbeatable.
The children had great fun feeding the dozen ducks and the friendly swan at the caravan door each morning. See you next winter!

Small site but in a great location next to the canal and a few minutes walk into Gargave. As others have said, it is next to a road, but we didn't find this too noisy and I'm usually the first to avoid such sites! It's not as if HGVs and cars are thundering past at 60mph. The site is on a corner and a next to a small bridge over the canal, so unless vehicles want to take off, they need to slow down!
The owner is the most accommodating chap you could meet. We turned up at a weekend not having booked and were told we could stay on what is effectively a carpark for an adjacent small, attractive office (which he owns), complete with electric points and a view right onto the canal! It was fantastic! I'd recommend you ask for one of these pitches (probably mainly suited to motorhomes) if you're going at a weekend, more private than the main site and you can watch the canal boats go by all day!
The other point that people have made is about the haulage firm, which I think the site owner also owns. We were there at a weekend and nothing came and went that we were aware of, although I can't vouch for a weekday of course.
The facilities are a little dated, but very clean and plenty of hot water. You can also walk into Skipton along the canal, straight from the site, which is a lovely walk, taking about 1 1/2 hours. Gargrave itself is a busy place, nothing much to do, but all the shops and pubs you could need.
Overall, a great site and would recommend.

Excellent caravan site spent many happy weeks there from 2002 to 2004. Loved the peace and the walks along the canal. The facilities are very clean and good Good central location for Skipton and the rest of the dales. Bus and train nearby. Gargrave lovely little village with adequate shopping facilities and pubs. Lovely friendly people. Cobby the owner introduced me to my Australian sheep shearer partner and I moved to Australia. Thankyou Cobby. I would recommend this site to anyone. My dog loved it too.

I'm a keen cyclist and being at the side of the Leeds/Liverpool canal is a bonus. Been to the camp site several times over last couple of years and always found it to be clean and tidy. The owner is accomadating, helpful and friendly. I have found that on my several visits even the other campers are friendly.
As other reviews have stated the pitch site is small but there is spare land that if there is too many tents is just as good. The ground is soft, flat and short grass. The site is dimmly lit at night and you feel safe walking to toilets. The toilets are clean, the shower block is small, but for the price of a tent-per person for the night do you expect the Hilton. The water is hot and plenty of it, there is a wash house to wash pots pans ect and even your clothes.
There is a main road at the side that has tractors ect pass it and there is a company next door opens about 6am and sometimes wakes you up (hgv's), there is also a phone that does ring but havent taken much interest in that. The village is busy and theres a papershop, fish & chip shop, butchers, co-op, take-away(indian), tea-rooms, libary, garage and a couple of pubs all within a 5 minute walk. Skipton and Malham are just around the corner if you have a car and Skipton is a pleasant walk on the canal to get to.
As with all sites I'm sure there are pros and cons but I think the pros far outweigh the cons, and I'm gonna carry on going to the campsite as often as I plan to. Every one has there own ideas as what to expect and everyone is different in there views. Hope this helps who-ever is interested in the campsite.

I agree with the comments about the friendly accommodating owner, busy road next to the site, phone ringing late next door (and it was loud), and the toilets and showers while been cramped were more than adequate, as was the washing up area. Equally I cannot believe this site can possibly hold 30 tents, they'd have to be 30 of the smallest tents ever. But the pitches are all nicely flat and grassy (I'm fairly sure the tent area used to be the back garden of the house next door), and the campsite is certainly in a good location for train and bus links in and out of the Dales. It cost me £4 for my tent (a two person one), which I found to be more than reasonable, and despite misgivings about the busy road and business I still had a good night's sleep so it can't have been that noisy. All in all a very pleasant overnight stop.
