Site 5 of 5 on our North of England and Scotland Tour.
Access is easy and is very close to the end of the motorway. Noise pollution is a problem at this site as is the smell at times from the near by waste transfer station when the wind blows in that direction.
The site is all hard standings but some areas a pleasantly landscapes and wooded, the Caravan Club pictures of this site do it no justice. Pitches are generous in size, though the ground is rock hard.
TV reception is variable.
The large toilet block is up to the usual Club standards.
There is no dog walk and dogs need to be exercised off site along the adjacent lanes and roads.
Reception sold a few odds and end and all the shops you would need with a very short drive.

Stayed 2 nights for short weekend break. Arrived Friday circa 6pm, given choice of pitches, check in very friendly for inexperienced caravanners.
Very small play area which is nearer to the road end of the site and a bit noisy at night.
Very clean, no complaints with facilities.
Not much grass for kids to run around on, mainly older couples and very quiet site.

Stayed here from 27th December till 3rd January 09 Caravan Club members only site. Cost 19.60 per night, no reduction for staying 7 days. Pitches all hardstanding with EHU. Very tidy well kept site. Shower block heated, a must in December. Showers, vanity cubicles and toilets all in same block. Cleaned every day between 11.30 and 12.15. Laundry facilities and veg. Preparation room. All the usual, chemical disposal etc. Friendly staff. The site wasn't full, there were still spaces available. We were here last year at the same time and it was busier then. Shop sells some basics. Nearest shop Tesco 1 1/2 miles away. Morrisons 3 miles going towards Blackpool. You need a car as there is nowhere near you can walk to. Some road noise, as another reviewer pointed out some guys in cars with noisy exhausts having a race but nothing too bad. Don't let this put you off it only happened on and off for an hour and a half a couple of times in the week I stayed. Unfortunately it was New years eve and the wardens days off. We had a problem with the electrics, when we had the heating and the television on we could not boil a kettle because our electrics in the caravan tripped. I don't know what the strength of the electrics on site is, this is only the second site this has happened on and it didn't happen last year on this site. Would stay here again, its only closed for a few weeks between January and February.

The Caravan Club Site at Blackpool South, can be described in one word - EXCELLENT!
Very clean, well run site with very friendly staff. The site is kept in an immaculate condition, with first class facilities. Everyone on the site, were also very friendly and 'Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good Evening' are the words to remember.
Once you have your bearings on the surroundings, getting in and out to and from Blackpool centre is very easy. The small shop on-site has the very basics, but, there is a huge Tesco store within easy reach. Again within easy reach, there are various pubs and fast food outlets. The staff on the site will be able to help, with directions to numerous places to go. There is also the Information Block on-site.
NOW THE BAD BIT! H.M. Govt Warning! When in Blackpool itself, don't park your car in the wrong place or it will get towed! Two Hundred and Fifty Quid minimum to get it back! Private companies have been hired and will tow you, even if you have Blue Badge etc - Make sure to look for signs on poles and surrounding walls!
Also, if you are travelling down from Scotland and have a Blue Disabled User Badge, before you go on holiday, ask your issuing authority for a 'Time Arrived' Clock, as you need it to meet local legislation - Be warned you cannot just put a note beside your Blue Badge - You need to have a clock.
We are already planning to go back next year and will stay on this site, as apart from having to get the car out of jail, we had a great time!

Excellent site. Toilet block immaculate. Only downside was traffic noise when pitched to the left side of the play area. Other pitches very quiet. Sky tv, no prblems. Be ultra careful of the number of speed cameras on the airport road on the way to the south shore, Tesco,s within 10minutes drive but parking quite a problem as there are some other large household named retailers on the same complex. A tram ride to fleetwood and freeport is within a day out, excellent chippies on lord street fleetwood

Visited at the beginning of July 2008. Very clean and laid out in neat pitches which drain well which is just as well as it rained more than a little when we were there. The facilities are what you would expect from one of the major clubs. Ideal base to tour the area and shops are close by but you will need a car.
A couple of nights were spoiled by 'boy racers' nearby in the industrial estate so might give problems for small children trying to get to sleep.
Also the country lane approach is a bit on the bumpy side and very narrow. Slow here. And the oncoming locals don't slow down much.
Not the fault of the site, but worth noting.
All in all, a good site. Friendly staff, clean, level, open and secluded pitches.

Stayed for four nights during Spring Bank half term 2008. Facilities excellent, especially, separate baby/toddler room that is not also the disabled facilities, privacy cubicles with individual free hairdryers and high levels of cleanliness (& spider-free!). However, hard standing pitches only and, despite purchasing the recommended pegs from office, still had great difficulty in securing awning thoroughly. Appreciated option to drive around choosing own pitch.
Had no distruption due to any traffic noise at all. Car is essential to get around area but everything within few mins drive. Free parking outside Pontins with ten minute walk into central Blackpool. Would highly recommend Lytham/St Annes for families as there is boating lake, sandy beach, free parking on road, paddling pools, small train, trampoline & crazy golf. Much more preferable to the 'tacky' side of Blackpool sea front. Tesco, Morrisons & Asda all within 3 miles makes this great facility for exploring Blackpool & surrounding area. Intend to visit at least once a year.

Loved this site, usual CC standards, close to Blackpool and St Annes. Kids loved the play area and we could sit in the caravan watching them playing with the rest of the kids. Only problem some other people had was the noise of the boy racers screaming up and down the by-pass till the early hours. Alas, didn't bother us after a few bevvies! Def. Go again.

This is a very clean site, very well kept and Wardens were very helpful and polite. There is also a play area for small children which looked well cared for.
The campsite is to far away from the pleasure beach to walk and as we were in a motorhome, next time we go we will have to use a bus to get there but would not let this put us off going again.
The road noise depends on where you are pitched,we were in a quiet corner away from the road.
The local tesco extra is only a mile away, also an Asda very handy with a retail park close by to.
On the whole a very nice site.

The usual caravan club standards, but not very well located if you do not intend to drive. Yes, as the brochure says it is probably only a mile to the nearest bus stop, but this entails crossing two roads with no pavements via a roundabout, then walking down another road, that you certainley wouldn,t want to of a night time, the local speed merchants and bikers liked it though, then through a mall industrial park to the bus stop . (£3.50 adults and 1 child to the tower ).
Get the impression that this might have been a nice site years ago before all the new roads / industrial parks were built, but nothing nearby, on safe roads, has ensured we won,t be there again. Having said all that, the staff are very pleasant, you can order papers daily and a small shop / reception will probably be ok for some-maybe most visitors, but not for us I,m afraid .
