We are very sad to leave France, especially the Loire. Kathy & Dave's campsite is in a beautiful small village, it is a small pretty site that is a very quiet & relaxing slice of French heaven. Kathy & Dave are fantastic hosts and nothing was ever too much trouble. There are no bars locally within walking distance. However, the Locals are very friendly and the Super U, Aldi & Liddle are about 15 minutes away if you listen to Dave rather than using sat nav! The area is perfect for bike rides as it's quite flat and the roads are very quiet. We were made very welcome and Dave is a barbecue master. We found the prices in Super you pricier than the UK. Clothes in France are stupid prices. However, the wine, cheese's and bread are amazing! There are lot's of things to do and the markets are superb! The majority of places of interest are a drive away (diesel is cheaper in the Super you than the UK). However, Kathy & Dave introduced us to French boules and we deliberately chose this site to relax. We have come back so chilled, loved this site and the French relaxed way of life. Lovely walks in the area. If you want to experience real France and you want relaxation in an enchanting setting then I definitely recommend this site.

We have just returned from our 5th visit to Kathy and Dave's site. We have lived in France since 2003 and this is the most friendly, welcoming site we have found. It is certainly our favourite. It is quiet, friendly and so relaxing. The area around is interesting and there are lovely towns to visit - Samur, Chinon and Duoe la Fountaine closeby. We even spent a lovely evening once at the Tigne Summer Fete, attended by the locals of all ages. Typical of French Fetes.
Kathy and Dave are such lovely hosts - they make facilities for communal BBQ's where you have the option of meeting your fellow campers, excellent wine tasting trips, and usually a visit to a local recommended restaurant. We have found on each of our visits there is always someone there who we have met before!
We would recommend it totally to people who want to see something of the French way of life, and the lovely countryside surrounding it. The site is set in a lovely orchard and garden and has excellent clean and tidy kitchen, washing and toilette facilities. Even a washing line!
We are certainly regular visitors and enjoy every minute there.

We visited this site in June 2010 (see review submitted) and returned this year, along with four other couples and effectively took the site over.
We were pleased to see that that the site had changed little from the excellent experience we had last year. Noted improvements were that Dave has lowered the hedges so we could enjoy the surrounding view and that the large communal dining area has a good quality gazebo protecting it. This last item was useful for our group as we were all able to sit to eat comfortably together. We were also able to use the oil-drum type barbeque, fuelled from the stock of vine trunks nearby. We took advantage of the offered trip to the close-by wine producer which was interesting and friendly. Everyone bought some of their favourite wines which, conveniently, Kathy transported back to the site in her car.
Kathy and Dave joined us for a drink one evening to ask for ideas on how to improve the site and we really struggled to come up with useful suggestions! All in all, a second excellent camping experience and still thoroughly recommended. P+S

We returned to this delightful campsite in the middle of the countryside after 2 years of not having returned and found many improvements. There is 8 amp electricity and even a satellite dish that can be plugged into. There are plenty of clotheslines, a barbecue and excellent toilet and shower facilities as well as a good selction of books for exchanging.
Kathy and Dave were as hospitable and helpful as ever and we were taken on a visit to a local wine-producer, where we saw the grapes being pressed and were given samples of wine to taste. We also enjoyed a barbecue in the warm October sunshine, where the temperatures were around 25 degrees centigrade, and had a lovely stay at this campsite. Sadly we had to return home but we will be back again soon and can recommend this campsite for its rural tranquillity and excellent hospitality from Kath and Dave.

This is a lovely little site, with 6 level large grass pitches (all with 6 amp electricity) with plenty of space for unit, awning and car. It is situated in the large grounds of a farmhouse, with fruit trees and, over the hedge, a large field of sunflowers. It is lovely and quiet.
Although the pitches are on grass, it was very short (because of the dry weather) and a little stony. What little rain we had drained well, but having stone or rock pegs was a definite plus for erecting the awning!
The travel directions to the site provided by the owners were very helpful and my wife and I found the site easily enough, although the road though Tigné and La Fosse de Tigné was rather narrow (when towing and meeting other traffic) and a little care was needed on the final turn in.
We stayed at the site on two separate occasions; the first was a one night stopover on the way to La Tournerie in the Dordogne (see separate review) and the second was for 5 nights on the way back, before heading towards home.
The thing that struck us most about this site was the trouble Kathy and Dave took to make you feel welcome. On the first evening of our five night stay, for instance, there were two other couples arriving the same day and they invited us all down to their bar (in the garage) for a complimentary drink (or two!) We thought that this was an excellent idea and it helped promote a real feeling of community and friendship.
In addition to this, Kathy and Dave laid on a visit to a local wine producer which included a short tour and a long wine tasting, with an opportunity to buy at very good prices. The following day, they lit the communal BBQ and invited everyone along. The day after that we were all invited to accompany tham on one of their regular meals out to a fairly local Les Routiers, which was the best value meal we had all holiday.
None of these activities was compulsory, of course, but it was great having someone offering you the benefit of their local knowledge and was much appreciated.
The site's facilities have been clearly described in other reviews. They are down a steepish slope, but there is a handrail. The kitchen area in particular is large, so there's plenty of space when it comes to washing up.
There was a comprehensive display with ideas for things to do. We particularly wanted to visit some of the chateaux of the area and we went to Saumur and Brissac. The latter was especially interesting and there was an informative tour in English once a day (as well as others in French).
Saumur is the nearest large town and the point at which the Loire is closest to the site. We had hoped to cycle along part of the 'vélo vert' which is by the river, but as we were a little under the weather, we decided we would leave it until we return, which we definitely hope to do.
At 13.50 euros a night for 2 adults, car, caravan, awning and electricity, this site (especially when considering all the activities Kathy and Dave laid on,) is excellent value for money and we heartily recommend it.

Kathy and Dave were the ideal hosts. Lovely site situated in an orchard and surrounded by sunflowers when we were there. Toilet and shower were kept very clean even providing hand towels, soap and loo paper! Kathy offered us use of a washing machine facility for 3 euros. BBQ supplied with logs for individual or communal use wifi for 9 euros a week! Visits to the local winery with sampling. A lunchtime visit to a local restaurant 4 courses including wine and coffee 11.50 euros... Amazing value all hosted by Kathy and Dave. The site fee including electric was 13.50 euros. The area itself is quiet and probably not suitable for children. Every effort was made to create a friendly site environment and I would highly recommend this site to any potential campers.

This was our return to camping after a gap of over 10 years and Cathy and Dave's was the ideal campsite for us 'amateur' campers.
Cathy and Dave were both so friendly and helpful and they enhanced our short holiday in the region.
It is a small campsite with other campers returning to this delightful site, we were all treated as friends rather than customers. The facilities were good with those, like us with no fridge, having the use of a full fridge in the basement of Cathy and Dave's house. The location is a very small hamlet in the middle of fields of sun flowers, vines and corn. Idyllic and we will certainly return.

After many years of other types of holiday, this was our return to camping and a bit of a test to see if it was still for us. Well, we loved it and I have to say that this site played a large part in that. Prior to leaving the UK I had e-mail contact with Kathy who answered all the queries I had.
We were welcomed on arrival and personally shown around the site and to our pitch. The pitch itself was in good condition, clear from the previous occupants and had areas of shade for relief from the 35 degree sun. The site is small but the pitches are a good size and personal space is never intruded in to.
The toilets and showers were adequate in number and very clean. The kitchen / wash up area was also very clean and contained a fridge for the use of all. We were invited by our hosts to take part in social drinks and enjoy a paella but regrettably had commitments in advance.
Kathy provided useful info on a good, inexpensive local restaurant and saved us from a fruitless visit to a local attraction by checking on her internet and finding it was closed. Dave offered insight in to how to care for his vines and melons and happily lent me an extension cable to reach the hook-up.
The grounds generally are very well tended and make an attractive backdrop. There is a friendly lizard and to top it all, Wi-Fi! All in all, a very positive experience and a real feeling of being amongst friends and family. Highly recommended. We will return.

If you appreciate the personal touch you’ll adore this campsite. Kathy & Dave go out of their way to make you feel welcome and there’s a real sense of community on the site. Expect to be invited to lunch, wine tasting and barbecues, all of which provide a relaxed setting for getting to know your hosts and fellow campers.
The spacious pitches are situated in a small orchard at the edge of the village. Facilities include two washrooms with W.C. (one of them also has a shower), along with a kitchen containing washing up facilities and a fridge. The basement facilities are accessed via a utility room which houses a small library and tourist information. There are no laundry facilities as such but Kathy offered to do our washing overnight for a modest fee.
There’s not a lot to do in the immediate vicinity but the zoo at Doue la Fontaine (9 miles) is well worth a visit, and the town of Saumur (20 miles) offers a variety of attractions and good shopping. But if you just want to while away the days soaking up the ambience (and the wine), with the occasional stroll through the sunflowers, then this is the perfect place to do it.

We just had to go back to Kathy & Daves and spent two weeks. Kathy and Dave's site is on the edge of a village with open views across open farm land. With vineyards, a zoo and markets to explore this is a great site to go and unwind. Preferably this site is for adults only.
On site you have the use of a kitchen a long with a toilet and shower next door. The site is set in an orchard next to Kathy & Dave's house. You do need to use your car as the local shops are away from the site. The site is just a day’s drive from all channel ports. We are hope to return next year to this site
