Just returned from a one night stay at the site. It is a surprisingly nice site with a fishing lake and is quite tranquil
It has a cafe and caravan accessories shop next door and a pub along the main road.
The pitches are a good size with water and waste on the pitch. We had a lovely view of the lake and the overlooking holiday lodges.
The facilities easily compare to the ones on Caravan Club sites.
It is slightly expensive with an extra fee of £2 a night for the dog but for the one night we were happy to pay.
There are no direct transport links to anywhere so for an arranged evening out with family we had to get a £15 each way taxi to Clacton.
However, rather than stay at a site more local to Clacton which are too busy for us,we were glad to find this one and it suited us very well and will use again.

Just home from a one night stay at the site. We were able to book an early arrival for an extra £3 which meant we could arrive at 0900, which we did.
Our only small complaint about the site is that it is not obvious where to find the reception office. The signs on the wall sent us to the right once we turned off the road. However, the office/reception is straight on and is next to the shop. Only a small detail but one that could be put right with a small sign.
The site itself is just lovely. So very quiet despite not being that far away from the main road. Lovely walk around the lake and the site itself. The shop is well stocked with spares, caravan accessories etc. The facilities are very good and nice and clean. There is a little traffic driving past the side of the camp site to gain access to the log cabin 'village' that is the other side of the lake.
After a good night's sleep we packed up and headed for Walton on the Naze. Note: there is no parking allowed for caravans/motorhomes along the sea front roads. We ended up at the Naze car park at the far end of Walton.
We will return to this site if time permits.

Just returned from a 4 night stay. Very quiet even though pub on doorstep. Hubby happy good fishing. Facilities clean. Constant hot water. Small shop easy walking distance. If you want a lively camp this is not for you but it was perfect for us.
Good gate security using swipe card. Just one point the electric hook ups were further than our lead reached but you can hire a longer one. Would definitely return again. Have stayed at cheaper sites with same facilities but the outlook over the lake each morning made this place a winner for us.

Just returned from 3 day stop at Homestead lake Park. What a fantastic site all pitches are serviced and all have plenty of room. Field is on a slight slope so levelling blocks a good idea.
Showers are roomy and hot most of all clean. Caravan spares shop on site has everything and more.
Now the important bit fishing. Fishing is dawn till dusk £ 5.00 from reception ( before you set up or £ 10.00 on the bank ) day tickets for the public start at eight thirty so campers get first choice of swims. Had three carp 1 @ 21 lb 1@ 19.4 lb and 1 @ 12.6 lb lake is loaded with carp biggest so far was last year @ 32 lb. Will definitely be returning.

Very handy site for overnight stop on the way to Harwich ferries. Huge lake with lots of fishys apparantly. It seemed that most units were involved in this and as a result it was very tranquil. The site is easy to find behind a caravan dealership but don't that put you off as it was rather handy to stock up on some spares. The village has a pub called the black boy which in itself is adequate but the landlady was lovely, couldn't do enough to keep us happy, food very good as well.
Wouldn't bother with a future stop unless your an angler or you need a stop before the Harwich ferry.

What a well kept gem. We stayed 5 nights and were sad to leave.
We had a fantastic relaxing time at this lovely site. Exceptionally good size pitches on hard standing with grass all around. Children played happily in the wooded area and rode bikes to rules around the site. All staff friendly and helpful. Useful accessories shop and nice cafe. Toilet block fine but we used our shower as the waste water could go straight down the drain(bonus). Huge field to the rear for kite flying, football and at dusk, towards the little stream, rabbit watching (even saw a fox). Great to watch the chaps fishing and the huge Carp they were catching in the beautifully kept lake.
Good food from the pub within walking distance of the site and an interesting car boot fair on a Saturday morning on the outskirts of Weeley.
It was a holiday from my child hood. No arcades, no Foxy Fox no gimmicks or kiss me quick hats. Just peace, quiet, laughter, plopping of fish, swallow's flying, duck gently quacking and wine bottles popping. Bliss. We would travel the 350 miles again to this site and stay longer. Lovely beach at Frinton and loads to do in the local area.

A superb weekend away - only taking a minimum of two nights bookings during high season. Lovely, friendly staff in reception and you felt really welcome. The site only allows for 3 tent pitches, we had a plot that overlooked a massive fishing lake and was peaceful and relaxing.
Superb toilets and showers, roomy, clean and always tidy. The washing up area enclosed adjacent to the toilets, again clean and welcoming. Even an array of literature/leaflets available on attractions in the area. Not needed as you wouldn't want to leave the site. Able to walk around the lake and up to the lodges where there is another lake. The evenings were quiet and no noisy teenagers as no play park.
In weeley itself is a great little supermarket/newsagent in walking distance and a tiny bakery that bakes on the premises opposite. The pub is at the park entrance. On site is the cabin/cafe serving hot & cold food - very nice too. Tea & Teacake £1.80. The camping shop is well stocked and massive (like a tardis) We will definitely return - have to get in early to get a pitch though. Take 'rock steel' pegs as the ground was very stony.

We've just returned from a fantastic weekend at homestead.
Pitch was a good size, hard standing with drainage. We went with friends, in a tent, staff were very accommodating and pitched us together. Double pitch had plenty of room for badminton etc.
Shower and toilets lovely and clean, plenty of hot water, good size cubicles.
No play area for the kids, and we went without a telly. But this wasn't a problem. They had a great time exploring the woods and area around the lake. It was great to see them make their own entertainment.
We didn't fish but there is a well stocked lake, saw some whoppers be landed (12 & 7lbs)
Site is spotlessly clean and very pretty, reasonably priced.
We will definitely be going back again

Fantastic site! Beautiful grounds, we were right on the lake in pitch number 10, under the trees for shade. Pitches are excellent with electric and water hook-up and waste disposal. Children really enjoyed themselves and had a great time with the ducks and geese. A playground is not essential to entertain children, especially on this site where there are lots of adventures to be had. No birds mess as previously said. Showers and toilet block very clean and tidy. We had a great holiday weekend there. There is a great fish and chip / chinese takeaway in Thorpe-le-Soken (next village a couple of miles away) also a fantastic pub and restaurant - The Crown, great food, very reasonable and a children's playgound.

Just returned from a 9 night Easter stay at Homestead Lake Park and we were very happy with the site and facilities. The ducks have apparently been reduced drastically in number and, although there are still quite a few, the duck poo problem mentioned before is nowhere near as bad.
The toilet block is clean with 7 toilets and 3 showers in the ladies and a similar number for men. The disabled toilet / shower doubles as a baby / toddler room.
Every pitch has it's own tap, grey water disposal and, most unusually, individual toilet emptying point (although we used the communal elsan point so that we could rinse the toilet out properly) and EHU. The pitches are all hardstanding for the caravan only with grass for the car and awning and slope slightly across so you'll need a levelling ramp for the bottom wheel.
Pluses: Lovely setting, great for fishermen (£5 per day or £25 per week) for dawn to dusk fishing, quiet and peaceful, great camping accessory shop and caravan dealership on site, nice toilet facilities, good location for Essex beach resorts
Minuses: Water in showers a bit too hot for our 5 year old and not adjustable (disabled / kids ought to be), no kids play area or ball games field, no launderette, have to pay a deposit and then the whole remaining balance 7 days before arrival
