What a lovely place, building are clean & tidy (except for the duck mess), lovely & quite, the most helpful staff every time on the phone & in person, what else can one want from a camping break. Toilet/shower block & washing-up room is spotless and plentiful, café does lovely cooked meals & sandwiches although shuts around 3.30pm, shop for camping and house-ware / food is large. Giant fishing lakes with reasonable swims, £5 a day to fish, Rules are abided with, one of the rules of dogs on short leads was kept, I saw no one letting their dogs run about. Full service pitches for every pitch with electric & water plus water / waste drains. Hard pitch for caravans with ample room for awning and car, our tent is 21ft x 15ft and still lots of room to park the trailer and estate car.
Down side: very stony under grass so was a job to peg down our tent (or if you have an awing). Also they told you to pick-up the mess after your dog but there are so many duck / geese on the site that you couldn’t help but step in the mess they leave behind which is all over the camp and sometimes bigger than a small dog could do. So we had to remove shoes before entering the tent or you got mess all over the ground sheet and the smell wasn’t very pleasant either. (The stony underground is a plus really because rainy weather would drain away quickly and not be muddy but the birds mess was a pain, shame they have so many birds there).
Another thing was that there was a mix-up on the site taking the full amount of money from our bank when we phoned (credit card) that we had to pay in cash when we got there, because the bank had a pending debit, we had to wait 10 days to get our £80 replaced back into the bank, so made us short of spending cash while we was there. Shame they don’t just take deposits only and not the full amount.

We only stayed for 2 nights, There was myself, my fishing fanatic husband and my children aged 5 and 6. The site was very well maintained the shower blocks and loos were immaculate, there were even fresh flowers in the ladies loos everday! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the site was well laid out. We were there in the school holidays it was nearly fully booked but so peaceful! You hardly noticed the dozens of other families there! There's a good fishing lake, a brilliant on site camping and fishing accesories shop well stocked with everything you can imagine and a lovely on site cafe. There's also a second hand shop which sells used caravan and camping accesories (great for anyone with an eye for a bargain!) This is nearby to Walton on the naze, Clacton and Frinton if you want to hit the beach and for shopaholics (or fishing widows) there's nearby Clacton shopping village which has a number of discount designer wear shops! Myself and my family absoloutley loved Homestead, I would really love to see a childrens play area for this site but apart from that PERFECT! Our favourite so far! (we will be going back there as often as we can!

We went to this site over the bank hoiday and it was our first ever camping holiday with our own caravan. We chose very well as the site is beautiful. It is very peaceful and if you want to get away it is a great place to go. The bathrooms were very clean and a pleasure to use. The pitches are huge with loads of room for all you may need.
I would have like a play park as I have a couple of kids but then again it meant that there was no noise after 8 as no where for kids to 'hang out'.
Fantastic site, I highly recommend.

We had a weekend break at homestead and found it very relaxing. The site slopes down toward a large fishing lake. Entry to the site is via a swipe card (that actually works!) you will need £5 deposit for the card. All the pitches are hard standing. All pitches are fully serviced but you will need a LONG hook up lead and fresh water hose for some! The pitches are massive, with loads of room for your van an awning and car. The place has loads of ducks and geese, our daughter used an entire loaf of bread feeding them! The lake does appear to be stocked and I did see a couple of anglers land some pretty big fish. I didn't see any staff or wardens during our stay, despite that the site was tidy and the shower/ toilet block was clean. There is a large caravan accessory shop on site and a cafe with limited opening hours.
For day to day shopping there is a spar/post office just up the road to the right. Turn left out of the camp and about 1.5 miles down the road is a Tesco express and a fish & chip/ Chinese take away. There is a pub near by and Clacton town centre is only about 5 minutes in the car. All in all this is a very peaceful site were you can quickly relax, plenty of room so you are not on top of your neighbors. The view over the lake first thing in the morning is very nice. We will definatly return when the stress levels are up, for a quick chill out.

What a lovely site this is. We went for a four day weekend break with 2 adults, a 3 year old and 8 month baby in our trailer tent. The weather was fantastic, which always helps, but the site was superb. Every pitch has a hard standing, hook up, drainage and water. Most are hedged by small shrubs and give you loads of room. We have a trailer tent and found we had loads of room for the trailer, awning, sun canopy and a couple of windbreaks without having to use the hard standing. The site is on a gentle slope and we had to adjust for this but no problem. The lake is very quite and peaceful, with a few anglers but obviously you'll need to keep an eye on toddlers and kids. There are loads of ducks wandering about. we had a similar "back to nature" experience with the ducks and geese at Centerparcs but there it cost £700, here it was £50! Great value. The toilet / shower block is fairly new and excellent. The showers are powerful, spacious and warm. They work on a push button, but you get a minute at a time and it is really good. At least one of us had our toddler in with us each shower and there was room for shower, dry and dressing him. The cubicles are triple length, with a seat and dry area all enclosed, so loads of space compared to some sites. All the loos were fine, cleaned very regularly and we never had a wait or queue for any facilities. There are soap dispensers, hand dryers and a small hairdryer in loos. Loads of wash basins, mirrors and facilities. There is a lovely small washing up room, with two sinks but again for the size of the site, plenty. Also a disabled toilet which doubles as a family room for really small babies, although we didn't need this. The site is secure with swipe card entry and at the entrance there is a caravan sales centre (new and used), a take away and sit down cafe (good value all day breakfasts) and a HUGE camp shop. It is massive and you can buy every spare you would ever need for caravans and tents. You can buy tables, chairs, caravans, tents, spare pegs, bungee's, awnings, gas - everything! It is no exaggeration to say they must have thousands of lines of stock. All in all this site was clean, modern, well looked after and gave us everything we needed for a long weekend and a relaxing break. Marks out of 10? It's an 8 or 9 at least. Would we return - 100% certain we are going back - we loved it, the kids loved it, it was quiet, ideally located for beaches and the like 10 minutes up the road or fine for just chilling on site and enjoying a kick about with the kiddies, feeding ducks, admiring the view etc. Well done Homestead Lake Park - a lovely little site.

May have been end of season 'run down' but hairdrier in ladies not working and large rubbish containers tended to be overflowing, Beware this site takes full amount from your bank account as soon as you book. Local pub had very limited menu but Brewers Fayre is just down the road Daily paper had to be purchased from local newsagents otherwise: Plenty of room for tent. On a slight slope. Showers roomy. Toilets clean. Washing up area even had mags. To read while I waited for OH to finish washing up! Nice view of lake. Ducks visited tent every morning. Cafe had good value breakfast and nice cups of tea. Purchased reasonably priced stuff from camping shop and there's even a small second-hand camping shop (Great idea!) Ideal for overnight stop if you're catching the Harwich Ferry.

This was our 3rd visit to this park this year, as ever the staff were very helpful and friendly. Every pitch has a hard standing with drainage points and water supply + hookup. There is plenty of room on each pitch and a very large recreational area beyond the fishing lake to walk and for children to play. The toilet/shower block is always very clean and tidy and plenty of hot water. You are about 5 miles from Clacton, Frinton & Walton on the Naze so very central for visiting this part of Essex. We will certainly be visiting again.

Very nice modern site. Only been open for about 4 years. Facilities nice and clean. Full service pitches available with your own dedicated waste water disposal, electric, inlet water and even toilet waste disposal.
Sloping in places with beautiful view over large lake for fishing or walking. Near at hand is Clacton, Walton and Frinton. Next door is a large caravan showroom with accessories and tea shop. I will definitely be going back.

We stayed on this site for one night and found this to be a good site with good facilities. The entrance to the site is a little unappealing as it is a caravan sales site but the pitches are located behind in an attractive area. Each pitch has access to water, electricity, waste water and chemical toilet disposal. Hard standing areas are on all pitches but the pitches are large enough so there is plenty of grass area to pitch even a large tent.
At the centre of the site is a new toilet and shower block which provides clean facilities of a very good standard. At the bottom of the site is the attractive fishing lake which is not fenced so if you have young children they need to be supervised. On the other of the lake from the pitches some holiday chalets are being constructed. There is no play area but there is plenty of space for children who can create their own entertainment.
At the entrance to the site there is a large camping shop which is great if you forgot anything. There is also a cafe for breakfast, lunches and takeaways but closes too early for evening meals. The site is only few miles away from the beaches of Frinton (recommended) and Clacton and makes a good base for visiting the local sandy beaches. An excellent site that we will visit again.

Wonderful site with about 60 hardstanding pitches - with a lovely view of the fishing lake - we took our 2 yr son and although the weather wasn't the best there were lots of options open to us as we were only 10 miles from Colchester and Clacton-on-sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. For a truly Sandy beach we recomment Walton on the Naze and the pier there was more for families with young children, much more suitable than Clacton's pier. I TRULY recommend eating in the site's cafe/restaurant although I wished they would be open during the evening but there were enough pubs/restaurants around to keep the family fed and me very happy NOT cooking! The breakfasts were fab at only £3.95 for a very tasty full breakfast and I am definitely taking my family there again. The site's secure with card swiping on entry and there's a huge accessories shop on site. They also sold caravans and static homes. We spent 8 nights and it really wasn't enough - I didn't even have time to explore the wooded area behind our camper. The staff were very helpful to me during booking and even held on to my cheque when our original trailer tent was detroyed and we had to buy a camper. A++++
