Stayed at this site for 4 nights. It's an absolute gem. We are CCC members and thus far, it's the best.
On arrival, though the reception wasn't open (it's open 9am-11am and then 4pm-6pm) the site assistants were easy to find as they were busy tending the site, and once we'd met, nothing was too much trouble. Ricky and Chris were just what you would wish to have as Site Assistants. Friendly, warm and welcoming. Being a CCC member for a number of years I don't generally single out individuals for praise but I will on this occasion. Top notch, both of them. I was amazed when they said they had only been in the job seven weeks. If CCC hierarchy have any sense, retain them and let them continue with their wonderful sense of what it takes to run a site.
Pitch was excellent on well kept grass. Surrounding views, lovely. River, Burn, Brook or however you would describe it, runs at the bottom of the site. Bird watchers, you would love it.
The information provided on site, strangely in the Laundry Room, with regard to local amenities is top notch. Carefully considered and well presented. We had a number of queries with regard to visiting the Royal Yacht and Edinburgh Castle. Although Ricky and Chris didn't have any first-hand experience they were eager to learn of our experience. Indeed, they made a point of letting us know they had told several people of our tips.
I support all comments with regard to the facilities. My only reservation, and this is a gripe with many CCC Club Sites, is push-button showers.
If I have another gripe then it would be the fact that the entry barrier is closed throughout the day. It's not locked, as it is with other CCC sites between 11pm-7am, but it is bolted. Means if you are leaving or returning from the site, you have to get out, open and close the barrier.
Two minor gripes. Would I recommend this site? Wholeheartedly. We wouldn't be planning on returning this coming Autumn otherwise.

Have I just found my favourite camp-site? I think so.
This small site has loads going for it, quiet and peaceful, but only a short drive or bus trip to get into Edinburgh or Lauder. And a great pub with good food, at the top of the driveway.
We used the site as a base to explore the 3 Abbeys and some castles in the boarders, and had a great time.
For this trip I booked the electric hook up, as it was April, and this is Scotland, which put us next to the small burn that flows the length of the site. The drainage on the site is really good, there was a lot of rain, and the puddles drained away reasonably quickly, but that gives for some hard ground to get the pegs in.
The wardens were good with my two boy's who loved going to the shop to order the rolls and papers, and to collect the next morning. One small point that parents might want to be aware of is that the field for ball games, also doubles up as the area for tents, so if the site is busy there will be no ball games, not an issue in April.
Lastly I must mention the toilets and showers. Even the kids talked about how clean they were. The cleanest camp-site I've been to.

Just returned from a very relaxed holiday after spending 13 nights on this campsite.
We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived.
The facilities were excellent, always very clean and tidy, lovely hot water at all times.
The campsite is very quiet and peaceful, and if your lucky enough like us to be close enough you can hear the running water of the burn and the bleating sheep.
Bob, Sheena, Jean, and Julian are all lovely friendly people who all offer a personal touch from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave.
We as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children aged 11, 10 and 4) would have no hesitation of returning to this site and would recommend it to anyone.

Great site. The staff where friendly on arrival, showed us to our pitch and pointed out the facilities on site. The shower and toilet block were very clean at all times of the day. The pitches were well spaced and mainly flat and the grounds were clean and kept throughout.
The only downside in our opinion was the fact that the site is advertised as family friendly yet we were constantly reminded that children (aged 3 to 15) should not play ball games, run around, or make noise near any caravans. We feel that children are tolerated and perhaps this site should be for older familys. On enquiring to a member of staff were the children should play we were directed over to the large field area, only to be told later by another member of staff that they were not able to play there and if we were not happy that we could always have a refund and leave ! The very next morning we left.

Fantastic site. Travelled from the Highlands to the BMF bike show & stopped in for the night at Lauder where we were made very welcome. Staff were friendly & very helpful. Clean site in great surroundings. Toilet block/shower rooms, laundry block, wash facilities all there & clean. Safe play area for the children & a stream running along the back of the site. The hotel just a short walk with a great menu (Try the desserts!) Shops & fuel station just a five minute drive. I can only critisise the local authorities for not putting up a bigger sign to this site! Huge thanks to the staff. We will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed just for one night but will look for an opportunity to go back for more. The location was great, lots to do in the area and the green grass, stream and nearby animals gave it a distinctly country feel only 30 miles from edinburgh. The site was really well cared for with great facilities. The toilets and showers were among the cleanest we have seen in Scotland. There was plenty of space for exercising our youngest child too. And all combined with a friendly welcome from the guys in the shop. The nearby hotel gives additional food options too!

We stopped off here for a few nights on our way home and were not disappointed.
The site is kept in very good condition by the friendly wardens. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They seemed to be busy from very early in the morning till quite late.
The toilets and dishwashing areas were always clean and had plentiful hot water.
The stream at the bottom of the site made it a very picturesque setting.
There is a small shop on site for basic provisions, and papers and rolls can be pre-ordered for the following day.
Will definitely return.

The site is a perfect place for a peaceful borders break. I've stayed here a couple of times whilst working in the area and have found it to be a great place to relax.
The site managers are friendly and more than accommodating. They keep the place meticulously clean and tidy with lovely hanging baskets. The managers helped me out with various requests and issues, and even helped jump start my camper when I'd left the lights on. When I returned for my second trip they welcomed me warmly.
The site is set in gorgeous countryside, with a stream and lots of trees around it.
The area is great for walking, and there are bunnies living on site so fab for small children. There is a nice pub a few minutes walk away which does good food. Highly recommended.

I visited this campsite at the beginning of June with my husband and two boys.
We were warmly greeted by Bob, the site manager, and given a choice of 2-3 pitches. Bob showed us all of the facilities and kindly asked if we would like a paper delivered in the morning.
The campsite itself is very well kept. It is a flat site and appears to be well drained. There is a small river running alongside the site with plenty of warning signs alongside.
Bob and his wife Sheena are always busy from morning until late at night ensuring that the site and it`s facilities are kept in tip top condition. The shower/toilet blocks are immaculate and by far the cleanest I have ever encountered!. They even organised a treasure hunt' for the kids one day!
There is an outdoor roofed area for dishwashing with plenty of hot water which is kept just as clean.
There is also a laundry area, complete with an ironing board and iron if you need it. Also in the laundry area you will find a selection of books to take away and read for a small donation!.
There is lots of information provided on the site regarding local places of interest/places to eat (including price lists/menus). Bob even telephoned nearby Thirlestane Castle for us one day to see if was open (it is closed on a Friday & Saturday for functions).
There are loads of things to do and see in the area and if you feel like going a bit further afield there are several 'Park & Ride' facilities for a trip into Edinburgh at a fraction of the price you would pay to drive into and park in the city.
All in all a fantastic, friendly holiday and a site we will definitely visit again!.

Lovely site with friendly owners. Very clean toilets with fantastic deluge showers! Quickest showers ever.
We have stayed here 3 times now and have always got the spot we favour, next to the burn at the dog walk area complete with dog bin. Great wildlife - this time a female pied flycatcher.
Lovely short grass so no soggy feet. Shelter from trees from hot morning sun.
The site isn't the quietest during the day as a lot of kids run around but everyone seems well behaved at night. Popular with cyclist and bikers touring. We were down for Classic car rally and were allowed two cars on our pitch - much appreciated.
Hookups available but we don't use them.
Great base for travelling to Border towns and villages, Lindesfarne and Bamburgh (Copper Kettle tearoom cream tea with seating out back for dogs)
Although the site isn't in the village or town, there is great hotel (bit pricey) with outdoor seating (great for dogs) and great menu - even doing breakfasts from 7am. If you go watch the tall head waiter on weekend evening - he is amazing to watch - keeps his staff well in line!
Will always return to this site for the Car rally.
