Have just returned from this superbly run and extremely friendly site. This is the nicest site I've stayed on, the staff are brilliant and spend time keeping the facilities absolutely tip top.
What a lovely setting with a stream running through. The toilet block is the cleanest I've come across and all sorts of little extras are provided (such as a baby bath, books to read, shop, local info).
Plenty of wildlife around,very peaceful.
Site wardens get 10 out of 10. Will be going back again.Highly recommended

We visited this site from 9th-14th May 2011 as members of the Camping and Caravan club. We wanted to be near Edinburgh and this site was perfect.
On arrival we were warmly greeted and camped next to the stream. It was a quiet week, so had loads of room on a pitch without hook up.
Although close to A68, there is no road noise and just the gentle baa-ing of sheep to wake you in the morning. The site managers are always busy ensuring the site is kept in tip top condition and the Toilet block is wonderfully clean and warm.
The weather was quite cool that week and emerging from a cold tent into a warm shower block with great showers was bliss.
Edinburgh park and ride (we used the Newcraighall park and train) was 25 mins away and perfect for our needs. We visited the Royal Yacht Britannia which was fantastic.
Eating out each evening we had a warm welcome and great food from The Goblin Ha at Gifford, The Kings Wark at Leith in Edinburgh, The Waterside Inn at Haddington, La Lanterna in Hanover Street, Edinburgh. I had lived in East Lothian 20 years ago, so had some knowledge of these eateries and we were not disappointed. Fantastic food all round.
We would highly recommend this peaceful, well run and welcoming site and will go back again

A very well run site set in Borders of Scotland. Myself, My wife and 2 children (3 and 6 years), as well as our friends also with children, were made very welcome at this site.
The good nature and helpfulness of the site managers, was outstanding. Quality pitches of very well drained level grass were ideal. Every effort was made to make our break enjoyable for all present. Some of cleanest well maintained facilities I have used on a camping and caravan club site.
Extra effort was made as it was Easter, the on-site provided easter egg hunt was especially thought out, with a box of spare eggs in case (staff made sure it didn't) some kids did not find a clue.
The Site had a large open area where we all played rounders, football and general running around. The children were very entertained with the 6-10inch deep stream running the length of the site. We also were lucky to view a vast array of wildlife on the site and within one of the many walks that we took.
The walks were all superb and an easy and safe route for children. All of whom had great fun.
Park and ride trips to Edinburgh are a fun way to spend the day. Also the many Hotel restaurants (all clearly advertised on site) are of a very high quality. The Tower hotel in Oxton being especially child friendly. Only the absence of a park drops rating to 9, but their is so much else to do for the children I would not consider this a draw back, maybe its better as it forces different activity types.
I could could ramble on for ages about how good this site was, but I will not, instead just go. You will return again and again. We are Planning a return visit as soon as we can.

Great site, lovely and clean toilet/shower block. The staff must have been cleaning very regularly as it seemed as though it had just been cleaned everytime we visited!
The staff were very nice and helpful, the little washing up room full of tourist information as well as magazines, books, videos was a nice little feature. The price was very reasonable and I can see why its got such a good star rating.
Although there is no playpark on the site itself (there is an adventure park in nearby castle grounds)we didn't mind as our little toddler loved running around the big open field.
The town is a lovely 10 minute walk through the castle grounds, passing the horses and other animals which were of great interest to my son. Lauder is a really nice town with great pubs for bar meals and coffee shops. The locals were incredibly friendly.
Fab holiday helped by fabulous weather! We will definitely be back!

Have passed this site many times on the way to Melrose CC site. Nice quiet location. Staff were friendly and this is the best kept C&CC site we have visited. Usual C&CC issues of narrow hard standings and unmade roads, but apart from that excellent.
Service block was well kept though the shower cubicles are a bit tight for space - that said they have the most powerful showers I have ever come across! TV reception wasn't great but not a big issue. Will return.

I'm not sure how often we'd been past this Site and not realised that it was there. Once on the Site, though, it well deserves the description of a hidden gem. It's quite small with only ~60 pitches but the facilities are first class, well up where we're sure C & CC would want them to be.
On top of that, the Site Managers were very efficient and helpful - all toilets inspected before official morning Office opening, papers, bread, rolls available at 09h00. The Site itself is reasonably close to Edinburgh and would also be a good overnight stop on the way to North Scotland. It took us ~5hours to get to Inverness from here.

This was the first time we have been camping in years and my girlfriend isn't really a outdoors kind of girl, but we had a great time even if it did rained the whole time we were there. The site had excellent drainage, the staff could not have been more helpful. The toilet, shower and dish washing areas were extremely clean and the toilet block seemed to be heated also which was nice on the cold nights. The site also had a small shop which was ok priced for a camp site. The only drawback was that the shop was only open for a bout 3 hours. An hour and a half in the morning and then an hour or so in the afternoon. All in all, I would recommend this site and I'm sure we'll be back soon.

A very quiet and peaceful site just off the A68. It's in a valley with fantastic views of the hills and countryside around. The diversity of wildlife around this site was fantastic. I have never come across such friendly accommodating and helpful wardens. Although this is a club site, they really do go the extra mile. Everything about the site was spotless.Toilet block service points were all spot on.
The site is situated about halfway between Edinburgh and Jedburgh. Both easily accessible by bus or car.
The hotel adjacent to the site is geared up for serving meals rather than drinks, but we enjoyed the meal that we had there. Nice walking area.

We stayed at this campsite for two nights on the way further north to Inverness. The site is very easy to find, just off the A68 and although close to the main road, traffic noise was minimal. Wardens provided a very friendly welcome and helped us onto our pitch.
The site itself was spotless. We have stayed at many CandCC sites but this site has by far the cleanest shower and toiletblock to date! The same could be said for the dishwashing sinks, reception and water/bin area. The site wardens had provided lots of additional info about surrounding area including opening times of local butchers etc.
There was no children's play area on site and there is a small stream running along the length of one side, which could be a slight concern if you had young children. This was pointed out by wardens as soon as we arrived, which was nice as we often let the kids explore whilst we set up caravan.
There is masses to do in the surrounding area as well as Edinburgh being close by. Will definitely visit again as site excellent and staff very friendly and helpful.

Lovely site hidden away just off the A68. Great for a stop over on your way up to the Highlands, or to use as a base for visiting Edinburgh and the surrounding area.
Lauder is a short trip down the road, with a fish and chip shop, local store and cash point. In case you need something, or can't be bothered to cook.
Out the entrance to the site is a Pub. Which I've been told does good food. Although close to the site you can't even hear it at night. The only problem I've noticed is that as you go past the pub car park to get too and from the site it can get busy (at the pub) which can cause access problems when towing a caravan.
The sites cleanliness is up to the standards you would expect of a Camping and Caravaning Club (C&CC) Site. Its toilet blocks are spotless, with enough facilities that you never need to que and wait. There are hard standing pitches and Electric hook ups available. But these seam to get booked up in advance during busy period, especially bank holiday weekends.
The Holiday Site Managers have always been helpful and willing to help if they can. They even helped push the caravan into its pitch once for me, due to wet grass.
A very recommended site.
