The field is roughly 2 acres of flat land with a stream on the boundary.
There are barriers in and out which is something I have always disliked being on a motorcycle as the pad you ride onto to leave does not always sense a vehicle is there unless your in a car.
The toilet/shower block here is immaculate.
There is a pub 3 minutes around the corner if you want it. At £17. 60 for a tent and one person it was a bit expensive.
I have stayed on several campsites in the UK in 2023 ranging from £5 to £13. This is the most I have paid per night this year.

Nice quiet site with clean but dated facilities. The staff are friendly.
The pitches are a mix of hard standing and grass with or without ehu.
There are some chalets which appear to be very good and seem popular. Not too far from Edinburgh by bus.
It is a few miles from the town of Lauder which is ok, a nice bakery and deli and take-away.
There is a hotel /pub/restaurant a 3min walk from the campsite, it serves some nice food.
We have stayed at this site a few times and have always found it quiet.
Nice views of the hills and the stream at the edge of the site is nice, they have put a couple of benches down by the edge and a gravel path.

It's a fairly small and quite basic site, up to the usual CCC club standard.
It was quiet, and well-positioned close to the Carfraemill Lodge hotel where yuou can get a drink or a meal.
We had a pleasant walk into the town of Lauder, along a mix of very quiet lanes and disused railway track, although there is really very little in the town itself.
Nice walks are available in the country around the site.

We have just had another lovey weekend at this small but perfectly formed campsite, next to a pretty little stream with lots of birdlife. It is a small, level and peaceful site.
The toilet block building is a bit tired, but the facilities inside are clean, tidy and warm. (There is no keypad, so I wonder if the other reviewer stayed elsewhere. )
There is a small selection of books and DVDs to borrow in the laundry room. There are lots of leaflets with info about stuff nearby. The staff were very friendly.
We recommend the National Trust Printing works in Innerleithen, which was very interesting but beware that you can only enter as part of a tour, so check the timings. Innerleithen is a mecca for cyclists, both road and off-road.
If you are a book lover, then a visit to Main Street Trading Company, in St. Boswells is a must.

Very handy for a stopover, being just off the A68.
We had a Grass pitch with no electric and nearly a whole field to ourselves.
Old and tired facilities but all very clean and fully operational.
Many songbirds in the adjacent trees and swallow nesting in shower block eaves.

Lovely site in the countryside with great staff.
The dawn chorus was fantastic.
We saw lots of different birds around the campsite.
Very peaceful and well laid out.
Would recommend.

Wonderful site for trailer tent in superb weather - 29 degrees on Aug Bank Hol. Pitched on grass by side of gurgling stream - we were given the option to choose our pitch.
Wash block all good, site quiet except naturally when the BH arrived it filled up.
Staff very unobtrusive once we were pitched they kept themselves to themselves. Several Chalets on site too.
Lauder is a great little town - no pretensions, no tourist fuss, just take it as you find it. Good Co-op, Deli, bakery, hotel, stately home and lots of walks.
Train line from Stowe either to Edinburgh or south towards Galashiels. Surrounding scenery of Lammamuir hills is fantastic.
We were disappointed the site didn't open in 2020 - hope to return one day.

We used the site as a stopover. I can't see us basing a long trip here because it's not in walking distance of a town with plenty to see & do, unlike other sites in the Borders. Lauder has an excellent gallery / coffee shop (Fat Cat) but not much more - and it's a drive away, despite the name of this site. If you're visiting Edinburgh, there are sites up there. However, if you're a walker or cyclist (and you have a 1:25, 000 map), the local minor roads and hill tracks let you explore deep into the Lammermuir Hills and we did enjoy taking the dog up the valley, though our 1:50, 000 map wasn't detailed enough to leave the minor road.
The site is in a large grass open sunny field that was largely empty because of there being relatively few hardstands. The toilet block looks dated from the outside but inside the facilities were modern, bright & clean. The keypad was a nuisance, you do wonder if it's needed. The dedicated dog walk on site is ok for a comfort break, no more. No motorhome service point so you'll need a grey water canister if you stay for more than a few days.
The nearby A-road noise is intrusive - it stops in the evening but starts again early for commuter traffic.
There are large new houses to either side of the site and loose dogs from both houses came into the site - one was large & boisterous & a real nuisance: the site managers could only chase it away with choice language. The 4 managers were working hard to spruce up the site as we left, filling potholes & mending fences.

A quiet site on the outskirts, the area is kept well and the view from the van is worth a few days without tv as along with the phone is poor ( it must be the 2% the phone companies are on about, )but plenty of places to walk with or without a dog.
