My husband and I stayed at this site for two nights, I wish it had been much longer.

We were welcomed on arrival and shown to an area where we picked our own pitch. The site wardens were so friendly and helpful, we felt comfortable here straight away.

The toilet/shower blocks were exceptionally clean. The showers were hot. No queuing for toilets or showers.

Our pitch was in front of a wind turbine but it didn't bother us in the slightest.

The site was quiet and peaceful. We would definitely recommend it.

We settled in then took the few minute walk to the pub/restaurant next to the entrance of the site.

They served lovely meals - we had the carvery - the beer was good too, Adnams real ale.

After lunch we took a walk down to the beach. Nothing much there but you can walk for miles. There is a pub where you can sit outside and admire the sea view. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We didn't eat there but had a pint of Adnams ale.

Across the road from the entrance of the campsite is the High Street where you'll find a couple more pubs, Cost-cutters supermarket and a post-office. We had a meal and drinks in the Kings Head pub, lovely food, good value and very friendly staff. They had live music on the Saturday night that we were there. Friendly atmosphere.

We visited the attraction Africa Alive which is right next door to the campsite. We had a fantastic day, in my opinion it was worth the money. It's nicely set out, even though it was busy you didn't feel like there was many people there as it is spread out. The animals seemed to be well looked after.

On Sunday morning there was a very large car-boot sale in a field next to the campsite, where we managed to pick up a few bargains - well worth a look.

We would definitely visit again.

A big thumbs up for this site which came to the rescue after we were told Kessingland Beach was too wet to pitch on. The staff were more than helpful when I first rang to enquire about booking. The gentleman on the phone said he would never put a family with a tent on an unsuitable pitch which reassured us before we set off.

Our journey took a bit longer than usual due to heavy traffic so it was a great sight for sore eyes when we saw the fish n chip van had arrived on site! Lovely!

We were shown to our pitch which considering the heavy rain was immaculate! I don't know how they keep the grass so well kept but our pitch was level, the grass was perfect and we did not see any muddy or churned up sections anywhere on site! It must be very well drained.

We were not too disturbed by the turbines and got used to them after a while. Radio 4 on very quietly at night was a good distraction from the whooshing sound.

We took advantage of the deal with Africa Alive and made use of it for the 3 days we stayed popping in at different times of the day in between trips to Southwold, Lowestoft and Oulton Broad which are all near by.

The toilets, showers and wash up facilities were all spotless.

The wardens were out after 10pm one night sorting out a light in the ladies loo.

We will definitely go back to this site with our kids again in summer!

This is a well presented site which is reasonably level. Having read some of the previous moans in reviews I would like to address a couple.

Having read a number of the reviews there is a lot of mention of the wind turbines and the noise from Africa Alive.

The wind turbines do create noise, which I would describe as being a bit like the noise of a distant aircraft. If you are listening for it you will hear it, but if you ignore it, it will not bother you. It may be a little noisier in a tent, if concerned, don't book here.

Africa Alive is literally a stones throw away as detailed in the C & CC site book. There is noise from wild animals, again, if this bothers you, don't book here. Personally we found the noise very tolerable.

The toilet blocks are well kept with large shower cubicles and there is also an excellent size family room. When cleaning takes place there is always an alternative toilet to use.

Local facilities are a little sparse, however a drive of about 5 minutes towards Lowestoft will take you to a Morrisons, Pizza Hut, Homebase store and more. Morrision's has a petrol station and a cafe which does excellent food and great prices (2 adults, 2 children eating with drinks £8. 50!)

This site does not have a huge amount of facilities, but it does not advertise that it does. What you are guaranteed is a well presented site, friendly staff and very clean facilities.

If you need bars, clubs, entertainment Park Resorts have a site on Kessingland beach a couple of miles away (probably costing at least double what this site does. )

I would personally stay here again and my kids (6&9) were not bored at any point whilst here.

Been here several times this year, on every visit the welcome was very friendly and warm.

I have been positioned all around the site, however I found that by being on the side of the wind turbine gives you afternoon / evening sunshine.

This site is ideal for those who do not wish to be kept awake all night by noisy groups, as noted by the previous review the lighting is not great at night, but that adds to the atmosphere. It fantastic to sit out late at night listening to the birds(Africa Alive) and look up and see the stars.

One thing I did find was early mornings with the sun behind the wind turbine does give the effect of strobe lighting, this soon passes as the sun rises.

Toilet blocks are immaculate and always plenty of toilet rolls and hand soap at the sink, washing up facilities are also spotless.

Fish and chip van that arrives on Fridays(also Tuesdays during busy periods)are the best one's around, the wait of freshly cooked fish is definitely worth it!

I have also found that wi fi connection is very easy and I have never had a problem connecting.

I will be back in 2012

Just back from 3 nights at this site with our folding caravan. From our arrival to our leaving the staff on site were lovely, really friendly and great to be shown to your pitch rather than be left to your own devices. I did request a pitch near to the toilet block, which I didn't get, but you are only a 5 minute walk to them from the bottom of the site.

The facilities were immaculate and the showers were huge with a little seat which is great because then you don't have to juggle with your toiletries & towel etc. As has been said previously they are closed for cleaning between 10.30am & 12.00noon so you have to get in sharp in the morning.

The pitches are good sizes and although we didn't need it there is a lovely little play area for the children. The only negative thing I found was that there is not enough lighting at night.

There are lights on the EHU bollards but if you want to walk offsite to the pub at night you have to walk up & down a non lit road. We have a dog and there is a great dog walk with bins just outside the site but at night a bit off putting due to the lack of lighting, even with a torch.

Had chosen this site as a surprise for my OH as he is just daft about wildlife and Africa Alive is right next door. This is a fabulous place. Well worth the visit. To be so close to such well cared for animals was a delight. The lions were amazing, although not so when they were keeping us awake one night roaring, that's how close you are to the attraction. Don't let this put you off though as it sounds terrific.

There is a convenience store about 5 mins away and Morrisons not much further. On the Sunday morning there is a huge, busy car boot sale 2 mins walk away and the bonus is you don't have to find a parking space. It is right on the doorstep for bargain hunters.

A trip into Lowestoft is well worth the journey of about 15 mins for those beaches alone. All in all a great site, except for the lighting, but this may because the Africa Alive attraction is so close and may disturb the animals if all lit up.

We will be returning asap with even bigger torches. Oh and by the way the fish we had from the chip van on the Friday was real haddock and delicious.

My friends put our tents up early on in the evening and made the person on reception aware that I was running late and would not arrive at camp until later in the evening.

Pulling up at 5 to 11 that evening with a 2 year old and a dog in the car I was greeted by the gate being closed (sign said 11pm close!).

It states on other reviews that you can hear the animals from Africa Alive which was lovely to listen to however what isn't lovely to listen to was the wind turbine right next to the site. It sounded like we were near an airport runway all night! There is another which is yet in operation so that will be interesting when it starts. We also got told that no ball games were allowed on camp when looking about there were other children playing with them.

I know it sounds like moan moan however the camp itself is clean and tidy, the facilities were well looked after (yet having a child say they need the toilet between 10:30and12 was difficult as toilets were closed!) and it is a lovely setting. (apart from the turbines)

We arrived on the site in mid-July. The staff were helpful and polite and showed us to our pitch. The pitches are all reasonably level with a very slight incline down to the bottom of the field where we were sited.

The one and only facilities block was a reasonable distance away, but not a problem. The standard of the site was what we have come to expect of CCC sites, however what we hadn't bargained for, was the two Wind Turbines that have recently been erected close to the site. This, absolutely, spoilt our visit.

The constant whoosh-whoosh of the turbine blades kept my wife awake most of the night. I can only describe it as something similar to a 'dripping tap' on your forehead, and a lot of the campers were not happy about this.

Normally, a random noise, like a car passing, wouldn't an issue, but this noise is constant, and louder when the wind increases. So this is something you would have to take into account if you are planning a visit here.

We did, over the course of our visit, find the site staff to be slightly over-zealous and fussy, taking the Site Rules to the ninth degree in interpretation.

The site has excellent drainage, as we experienced several long periods of rain during our stay (unfortunately). The site is in a good location, with several pubs serving food close by, and a Morrisons Supermarket / Petrol Station within a short driving distance. One other issue during our stay was the availability of toilets during cleaning operations.

Although, a sign said you could use the Disabled facilities during this period, we found that they were locked, and when we went to reception, there was nobody there, which wasn't good.

Overall, our stay was disappointing, but the site was a good standard, as you would expect of a CCC site, but we would not return here again.

You know when you are getting close by the two very large wind turbines you will see and yes you end up staying right below them which is a little disturbing and results in a low continuous sound not dissimilar to a light aircraft.

Also animal noises from zoo esp birds that wake up at crack of light each day - then at 3. 00 in afternoon you will be treated to sound of Africa show from zoo next door.

Site is a long way from beach (which is also disappointing) and there is not much else in Kessingland itself which is very disappointing.

Site very full and lots of kids cycling everywhere even where signs said not too. Would not return

We have just come back from spending 3 nights here. The wardens are extremely friendly and helpful, the facilities are excellent.

Pros: Showers, laundry, washing-up all excellent.

Large pitches with individual electric hookup.

Level with slight dips here and there (we saw motor homes using levelling blocks).

Pub at the entrance (didn't try it)

Morrisons (plus fuel) & Pizza Hut two roundabouts away on A12 (about a mile)

Beach 1-1/2 miles.

Cheaper tariff for us as we got age concession rates from the C&C Club (just!).

Chip shop in Village & chip van on site on Friday.

We had thunder, lightning & heavy rain - but the site drained really well.

Cons: Traffic for Africa Alive can be noisy.

Birds there start about 5. 30am and as we were placed beside the entry road and the cages, we got full force. Pack ear plugs.

Dog walk is tiny - but can use Africa Alive entry road verges - not ideal.

Large windmill each side of campsite - luckily only one was operating and it created quite a bit of noise - like a car revving it's engine constantly. Makes it easy to find the campsite again though!

Children's playground was extremely small - probably only suitable for toddlers and younger kids, so nothing else for older kids to do.

We tried the Sailors' Home pub in Kessingland - they welcome dogs in the bar. We thought £10 for a plate of fish & chips was a bit steep.

Worth driving to Southwold beach - stretch before the harbour is dog friendly. The same as Kessingland. Good birdwatching at Kessingland on the grassed areas behind the beach.

Taking everything into consideration, we feel it's a site we will use regularly and would recommend it.

We visited this site on the second April bank holiday so it was pretty busy. We arrived at approximately 4.30pm on the Thursday afternoon and were greeted by a very helpful and friendly warden who showed us to our pitch which was everything we had requested when we booked (corner pitch, non sloping ground, near the play area and next to our friends who had arrived earlier in the day).

The site is very well maintained and has great shower blocks - possibly the biggest showers I have used at a club site! It also has two family rooms and the washing up / laundry rooms are also in doors.

When navigating to the site its best to follow signs for 'Africa Alive' as its a shared drive way rather than following the brown camping signs (there are two more camping sites near by). If towing a trailer or caravan to the site then avoid a road called 'toad roe' as its tight with blind bends and sat navs appear to like it.

We were pitched at the bottom of the site on the right hand side, consequently we could hear animal noises for most of our stay - not a problem for us, the kids found this funny. If this does concern you I would suggest you either request a pitch in the top field (nearer the shower block) or on the bottom field but on the left hand side away from the animal park.

It transpires that pretty much all pitches are flat (or as flat as can be expected in a field!). The whole site is tree lined with a few hidden corner pitches if you want a little more privacy.

There is a pub at the end of the drive which was OK (child friendly) but the food was a bit hit and miss (carvery nice, lesagna dodgy). Whilst the site is something like 1.5 miles from the coast, I wouldn't recommend trying to walk there with young children. Driving is OK but parking wasn't great.

As already reported, there is a Morrisons supermarket near by. The site shop doesn't have much, just some basics.

The children's play area consisted of one slide and two swings all sited on a base of wood chip. Its fine when they all make friends and play nicely - no ball games allowed though.

Dog owners do have a very small walking area, I don't have a dog but even I could tell its too small. However, the drive is long and most people appeared to walk dogs their.

Overall, an excellent site that I would recommend and re-visit in the future.
