Used this site many times myself & for Duke of Edinburgh Award groups. Nice little site, never overcrowded; very clean facilities but can get a bit muddy when there has been a lot of rain , but what campsite doesn't. Great for access to Stanage and the Dark Peak area. May I recommend the Little John in Hathersage, about 1/2 hours walk, for Real Ales and proper walkers size food portions.

We went to this site twice last year, once with my two daughters and then again with my elder son.
The site is made up of two fields, the lower field is pretty flat, but the upper one has a slight incline and has a wooden gate, which is good to keep small children safe.
If you pitch near the edge of the upper field as we did, you can find that you roll to one side. The facilities are basic but clean. The warden was friendly and informative. The site has a path through the top field that leads up to Stanage Edge, this offers great views of the area. This site is ideal for walkers and climbers alike. The village of Hathersage is about a 20 minutes walk through the fields and has all of your basic needs.
We had a really good time there, you have to book early if want to get on at a bank holiday.

Was specifically looking for a small, quiet, tent only campsite and definitely found that at North Lees. Lovely spot surrounded by trees with clean and basic facilities. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. Easy 20min walk into hathersage. Would definitely return.
Handy tip - if using sat nav to find your way here be careful as entering the postcode leads you to the wrong lane which is very steep and you won't enjoy trying to turn around.

Secluded campsite very close to gorgeous Stanage Edge. Plenty of pubs, shops etc in hathersage which is about 1.5 miles away over fields. Tents only which is great. Could do with one more shower the queues were getting quite long! Would recommend and visit again.

Stayed on 20th June 2008 - one tent with 3 people. Very pleased with the site. Well run and looked after. Great setting. We stayed in the 'top field'. Plenty of room, pegs go in the ground easy (plenty of top soil and no rocks), picnic tables are provided and wooden pallets for disposable bbq's to go on. There is a toilet and shower block. It is not well signposted so you will need a map or good directions. It is a twenty min walk into Hathersage (downhill) through the fields but considerably longer on the way back (after a few beers). I would highly recommend this site.

Best campsite for visiting Stanage Edge. Basic facilities and secluded location add to it's charm. The stream running down one side of the site babbles nicely lulling you to sleep at night. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Can turn into a bit of a mire during rainy weather but boards are provided for putting at your tent entrance.

Just got back from this lovely site which the whole family enjoyed. A very quiet site on a slight incline, basic facilities include 3 toilets and 1 shower in the ladies (I assume its the same for the men) and 2 washing up sinks. To avoid a queue for the shower I advise you to go as soon as you wake up, they are free and good and they ask you to limit yourself to 3 mins. Staff are friendly. No special things for kids, but this was all the better as the kids enjoyed playing around the field and in the river! The top field has no ball games but the lower field you can, also nearer the toilets. A quiet site that is mainly frequented by climbers and walkers. Will definetly return.

This is a really nice, small, secluded site with basic but tidy facilities - showers, washing up area and a small drying room. We managed to get a pitch a few days before the weekend and it was busy but not overcrowded. The site is tents only and full of climbers and hikers with a good atmosphere and wardens who were helpful but enforced the rules.
Nearby area is stunning, very close to Stanage Edge and a lovely walk across the fields to Hathersage which had plenty of pubs

An excellent campsite. We spent two nights here. Very quiet, a mix of Families and Climbers. Very basic very clean facilities including Toilets, Shower (free ), washing up area, drying room, fridge to refreeze your ice blocks. And a recyclng area Wardens very helpful. The site is a 25min walk over the fields from Hathersage, which has all you would want in terms of food etc. Great walks all around, Stanage is brillant I would highly recommend this tent only site as excellent value for money. We will be back. I would recommend booking well in advance. It is even more popular now following publicity in the Guardian. The only negative was the midges, but then again it is moorland, so it is to be expected ( wear a hat) 9 out of 10

Nice campsite - would use it again. Very sheltered site, a little rolling but plenty of flat bits. Ok facilities - clean with plenty of paper and no sharing of showers! Hathersage is nearby - a pleasant walk across fields and there are plenty of facilities. Try the Deli for breakfast or for a few treats for lunch. There is lots of good walking - we went up on Stanage edge and spent ages watching climbers!
