What a wonderful camp site. We visited over a very hot weekend (Friday to Sunday). The campsite is peacefull, situated in the middle of a small forest in the countryside. The whole site is on a very slight hill but it didn't cause us any problems. There is a small shallow stream running along side the site. There is a very clean toilet block with free showers, drying room and washing up area with hot and cold running water. Hathersage (which is a small village with lovely pubs) is a 5 minute drive away. Castleton with all its mines is a 15-20 minute drive. We went with our 2 kids who had a great time trying to dam the stream which meant we got to sit round the bbq with a beer. Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all but book in advance. Excellent!

Just got back from this site, very nice - woodland clearing to pitch in, separate places for cars and friendly wardens. Facilities good, and include a recycling area for cans, bottles and gas canisters.
We walked to Hathersage across the fields, and sampled the local curry house, well worth the walk!

A quiet camping site surrounded by woods and wildlife brilliant for walkers, bikers and climbers. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the facilities (including picnic tables, pallets for putting your stove on, recycling and showers) were excellent and the cats extra friendly.

Agree with everything said about this camp, nice touch is that cars are parked away from the tents and radios are NOT allowed. Suggest a midweek visit or get there early, large tents might not find a level enough pitch. I had a good look around for a better site but they all seem to be close to the railway line which is very noisy and 24 hours, Wardens very pleasent but firm.

August 2005 Excellent campsite in a beautiful, tranquil spot, surrounded by woodland and with a stream running next to it. There are good clean toilets and shower and a drying room and recycling facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although there isn't a play area for children there is plenty of room for running around and the woods and a stream to explore. The tents were limited in number so there was no overcrowding. Plenty of superb walks around and lots of places to go locally. I would definitely recommend this site and would go again. You do need to book first but I didn't have a problem getting on. The only problem was the midges but that was hardly the fault of the campsite!

June 2004 Excellent site. Very friendly and helpful staff at this site operated by the national park. Well located for rock climbers, walkers and montain bikers. Situated between the magnificent Stanage edge and beautiful village of Hathersage (both a short walk away) which has excellent pubs for food (Scotsmans pack recommended). Reasonably priced site with excellent facilities and breathtaking surroundings. Will visit again.

June 2004 Beautiful campsite in a wood clearing. Great walks all around. Hathersage within easy walking distance from the site either through meadows or a track. Recycling facilities, drying room and friendly wardens. Advance booking is required. I definitely recommend this campsite.
