This campsite is excellent for cleanliness, price (only £10 per unit per night with electric hook up and an awning), location for south lakes with a bus running from site to kendal then trains from kendal to windermere. There is the crooklands hotel just over the road which serves very nice food, some reviews say its a bit pricey but I thought it was reasonable for the quality of meal served. Then there's Pat who rounded off our stay, being very welcoming and helpful, nothing was any trouble and a brilliant sense of humour. Will definitely return to this site.

Stayed here one night with three others. It was very easy to find, although the explanation given over the phone did sound like it was more difficult. Site is clean and so are the amenities although very limited one toilet, one shower and one wash up area. For the bank holiday weekend the site was not over busy.
It is located within a five minute walk from the local Hotel which seemed to serve quite nice food and good beer.
Despite signs stating dogs must be on leads very few dogs were but they were well behaved but the rule wasn't enforced.
The question should be; would I come back again and it would be a resounding yes.

This campsite is brilliant. Met by the owner who helped set up the van and lent a leveller as ours was to thin. Well kept showers and toilet both of which were clean. Close to canal walks / 24hour garage (which gives cash back) and a couple of pubs. Very good pie shop that sells the ultimate in pies. Barge on the canal gives free rides on Sunday, Bank Holidays and the odd Saturday. Show ground 5 mins walk has 2 shows per year with horses, sheep and usual livestock. Give Pat a ring when leaving the motorway and she will meet you. Everybody very friendly and an ideal spot for a visit to the lakes. Cannot say enough about this site. Thanks Pat for making us feel welcome.

This was our first time in a caravan. We booked last minute - Pat kindly fitted us in, helped us to set up, and even helped with advice!
Spot on site, nice people, great first time experience for us.
The fields are mown weekly, and are extremely tidy.
Would recommend to anyone visiting this area of the lakes.

We were lucky enough to get in here last minute for the Bank Holiday weekend. This was our own stupid fault yet Pat was apologetic that she couldn't pitch us where she normally would have done!
We had two kids with us so I think she would have preferred to put us in the larger field but our two weren't bothered and as it was raining we spent more time sat inside playing board games than they did outside anyway.
Toilet and shower facilities (think it was 20p for a shower) were always clean and well-stocked. One down-side that we see a lot is that there were no separate washing facilities.
The kids also had to walk in to the next field to wash up - part of the adventure we said!
We had a couple of lovely walks round and about (in between the rain) and only used the car on the Friday night to drive down in to Milnthorpe for some tea.
I can not recommend the Cross Keys Hotel highly enough for food. I know the pub over the road has been mentioned a lot (we didn't even attempt it as everyone said it was pricey) but the Cross Keys was fab. I had the BEST fish and chips I have ever had in my life, and the steak pie, toastie and chicken skewers were all rated highly by our party too.
As this site is just off the M6 I would definitely think it is worth a visit by most people.

This is a nice little site with more positives than negatives. It was a lot smaller than I was expecting, just 2 small fields. Luckily, the field we were in was never busy, so the toilet block with only 1 toilet (unisex), 1 shower (unisex - 20p for 4 mins)and 1 washing-up sink didn't get too busy. There was a larger toilet block in the other field with 2 toilets and 1 shower plus sinks in separate areas for men and women.
The road next to the site was very busy overnight, with large lorries. So we were glad that we had chosen to pitch at the top of the field. However, we easily got used to the traffic noise.
The owners are lovely and there if you want ideas for places to visit but otherwise leave you alone to enjoy your holiday. There are a number of permanent caravans on site with people coming for weekends but they were all really friendly.
One of the main reasons for choosing this site was that it is very reasonably priced, we paid £14 per night for 2 adults and 2 children without EHU. Our children (aged 9 and 13) enjoyed being able to play cricket and run around in the fields. We had great walks and a free barge ride on the canal and it is also a great place for bat spotting.
We briefly went into the hotel across the road but it did not give the impression of being child friendly and was out of our price range for a meal. However, the pub in the village let us go and watch the Olympic opening ceremony, which was really nice of them!
The site is in a fantastic location for exploring The Lake District, very close to Kendal. We stayed for 12 nights and had no problem finding things that we wanted to do.
A really great basic little site which is hugely improved by the helpfulness of the owners. It is no surprise that they have so many regulars returning every year!

Just come back from a few days at Little Acre, my 2 children had a ball on the site. Plenty or room on the pitch and by the caravan to play with their toys. - I much prefer a site with space where the kids can play than for them to have to go to a play park where I cant see them. Fantastic site for me!
It is a great campsite. Facilities are basic but clean. Campsite is really reasonably priced, and quiet. Just 5 minutes from the M6 motorway J36. Really easy to find (gotta be for me to have found it haha)
Pat is lovely, and couldn't do enough to ensure you have a good stay, starting by helping me reverse the caravan into position and as it is the first time I have done it I was very very grateful. Always on hand to help and answer any questions. In fact Pat was brilliant even when I phoned to book onto the site. !
There is a lovely Hotel bar and restaurant across the road, more expensive than a pub, but reasonably priced. And really well located for easy access from the motorway and to other parts of the lake district.
We were only 10 minutes away from Kendal, and 20 minutes from Grange. Windermere is not far either.
There was a free barge ride down the canal, which is just outside the entrance to the campsite all they ask for is donations.
We will definitely go back here.

Only the second time we have used the 'big tin box' as the kids call it. Absolutely wonderful site.
Warden couldn't be more helpful. Not really got the hang of the reversing thing yet, but was helped to position on the pitch.
Site was very quiet when we were there, but that meant more room for the kids to run about.
Facilities on site are basic but very clean, warden does a good job keeping them that way.
Crooklands hotel is visible from one field and although friendly and welcoming it's a bit pricey.
The walk along the canal is great, but a bit on the muddy side after days of rain. There is a canal boat ride during the summer months, but was not running while we were there.
Site is 5 minutes from M6 and very easy to find.
Kendal is close enough for anything forgotten (Asda etc).
We will definitely be having another weekend there.

A small friendly site situated just south of kendal. Pat is one of the most helpful, friendly people we have encountered in all our years of camping. The facilities on site were adequate but clean and serviceable. One of the toilet/shower blocks is in need of some updating but the other one across the site is modern and has extra toilets.
Tent pitches were good, your car parked along side your tent.
We stayed sat-sun night over the bank holiday, which we feel was spoilt because the farmer on the other side of the Lancaster canal had hired his field out for a caravan rally. This resulted in music blaring out all Sunday evening and into the early hours on the Monday morning. So we think it would be a good idea if booking for your stay to check with pat beforehand if a similar event is likely to occur when you want to stay.
Other than this little acres is a great find for any camper. We cannot praise pat enough for her caring manner to her guests.
Whilst staying here please try 'the punch bowl' just a few miles towards kendal at barrows green for a welcoming friendly pub with good value meals. We don't think you will be disappointed
