We just stayed one night to try our new tent out. We were made very welcome by Pat, the head honcho, and other people who were staying on the site, especially when we were leaving and the car wouldn't start due to a flat battery, a big thanks to everyone who helped.
It's a great place to base yourself, only six miles from Kendal, and a great pub/restaurant, The Crooklands Hotel, across the road. Food was fantastic, but we would advise booking a table in advance.
The site is small and friendly, but you have everything you could need, plenty of hot water in the showers.
Price of stay was extremely reasonable and Pat couldn't have done more to make us welcome.
We will definitely be back for a longer stay.

Absolutely great!
A lovely site with both hard standings and grass pitches. But above all, a really nice and more than helpful couple who run it. Nothing is too much trouble and they go several extra miles to make sure you have anything and everything you need.
We will definitely be returning and have already booked our next Bank Holiday weekend there. We look forward to having another wonderful weekend there and are certain of a warm and friendly reception from our hosts.
Thank You Little Acre for making our Easter break one to remember always.

Well we only live 2 miles away from this site and decided to give our new (to us) caravan it's first venture. We decided on a local location so that we could nip home if we had any teething problems (luckily we didn't). I must say Little Acres should be re-named Little Jewel! A lovely site and we were made very welcome with the minimum of fuss. Some great walks along the canal and footpaths and a lovely meal on Saturday night across the road at the Crooklands Hotel.
All in all I would recommend this site without hesitation.

This site is lovely and we'll be calling again. The pitches are good with hard standing gravel. There are around 20 pitches and all are good standard and the grounds are kept clean and tidy.
The best thing about the site is Pat, the warden. She is very laid back and very friendly. She welcomed us to the site on arrival and said not to worry about payment until we were ready. Any time over the weekend would suffice. Pat told us that on the day of leaving there there would be no rush to leave and they had no guidelines on leaving by a certain time. We left at 2pm and she was happy with this.
The shower and toilet block were basic and had formica cubicles but we always use the shower in our van. They were however clean.
There was a reasonable picture on our freeview tv if you are inclined.
The canal is literally 20 yards across the quiet country lane with a few ducks coming to see our little girl for feeding.
It was approx 1/2 mile to the M6 and this could be heard slightly in the distance but nothing to put us off.
We sampled The Crooklands Hotel 200 yards from the site. Very nice meal and cosy log fire in the bar.
There are no amenities or play areas for kids on the site just the canal for a walk. Our little girl did find a den in the hedge though that she loved.
Consider this site. I think you'll like it.

We camp in our converted 4x4 with an awning and this posed no problem at Little Acre.
The owners of this site as so laid back and accommodating. The site itself is very basic. The camping pitch is just a field just off the road. However this road is just off the canal and that is what we were there for, to paddle up the Lancaster Canal so this site was absolutely ideal.
It is true that the camping facilities consist of 1 communal toilet, 1 shower and a washing room. However not 200 yards away there are another set of of 2 ladies and 2 gents toilets and showers next to the static vans. All of which were basic but very clean.
There is a bar / restaurant across the road and ASDA is a short drive away. For the money you really can't knock this little site if you just want a weekend away.

This is our second visit this year to this park, first time was in March. We have found it to be an excellent site with fantastic staff who couldn't do enough for you and always very accommodating.
It is a small site so booking is recommended. The facilities are basic and not the most modern but very good and very clean and the 20p charge for a 4 minute hot shower is very reasonable, there are 2 toilet / shower blocks on the park one with more facilities than the other.
It is close to Kendal, Morcambe, Arnside and also the Northern Reaches part of the Lancaster canal. For us as canoeists this was a major attraction as the canal is only across the road!
Overall we can highly recommend it its a nice little site in a great area with very friendly laid back staff all in all a perfect weekend away.

If you are looking for somewhere to camp - this is ok. If you are looking for somewhere to camp where there is nothing to do - this is it.
Can't complain much as it is rather cheap. There is one unisex toilet, one unisex shower and one sink - set up for washing dishes.
It could do with a sink that you could wash your hands/face in and also with a light outside the toilet block.
Basically it is a field that people put tents on.
If you are there on a weekend, you can go to the canal and they have free cruises on a Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.
It did say no ball games or fires but everyone was playing football or cricket and there were a few fires (raised off the ground)
Overall it was average.

What a lovely site. Things are very basic, i.E. Toilets, showers, and washing up facilities. This is more than made up for in a fab back to basics approach with friendly hosts and no great pressure to leave for 10am! We were even offered free range eggs for sale.
Like most others we tried the Crooklands pub, literally a two minute walk away which was fine for a drink, although a bit pricey for food.
Must recommend The Punch Bowl about three miles along the road when you turn left onto the main road. Food there was great for our party of six, the credit crunch menu at £5 per head was fresh, tasty and generously portioned.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay; booking recommended.

Just had a sunny weekend at Little Acre campsite - very cheap and friendly and an absolutely lovely field for tents. Great location with pub /tea room / canal walks all close by - however it's let down by the facilities.
There is only one toilet and only one separate, poor, cool shower at 20p a time! The sink is separate again and decked out for washing dishes etc - however its the only sink so its used after going to the loo too!
There's plenty of space on the tent field but this was filled to the point of bursting with two caravans ending up on the front garden while we were there!
The Camp and caravan club sign at the entrance could be perceived as misleading as this site is not a member.
There's nothing for children and a sign forbidding ball games - however this was ignored by the other kids.
Summary - handy , cheap, and cheerful but could be a gem with a few more important facilities

We visited Little Acre in April 09, a large group of family and friends with 13 tents, 3 caravans, 2 trailer tents and 1 motor home, and lastly 1 large gazebo. We were very pleased with the site, nice and clean toilet block, but only 1 toilet and 1 shower, good washing up facilities. The site managers bent over backwards to help us and were very friendly, the weather was warm and sunny and with a small beck and a canal on the doorstep. We enjoyed lovely walks and the kids loved the beck for paddling, the sea is just 15 minutes away in Arnside. 10 minutes down the road towards Kendal was Asda (24hrs) a Hospital and Leisure Centre. We had a wonderful time and will return.
