Just spent 1 night at this camp site but would definitely return. Lots of space to camp, a few different fields, were asked on booking in if we wanted a quiet pitch and directed us to best field for peace.
Toilets basic but ok and there are 2 shower rooms on the side of the pub which looked new, if camp site was busy though I don't think 2 showers are enough.
No shop or anything on site but only a few miles from Buxton with all shops, cafe etc you need. Staff couldn't have been friendlier. Views from the field excellent and a donkey sanctuary next door. All in all a good site well worth a visit.

Excellent open fields with fabulous views. Freedom to camp where you like, lots of space between campers. Pub restaurant with great homecooked meals, nice steaks.
Only two showers with unlimited hot water, (great but unfortunately produced long queues!)
Close location to bakewell and a short drive to chatsworth house.
Would stay here again!

Just spent 2 night in a tent with electric hook up at the bull in the thorn and we will visit again…but maybe not spring time as it is a very open field on top of a hill so very windy! The field was very big but there only seemed to be 4 hook ups in this tent field. There was also a toilet block which was basic but clean and well stocked. Joined onto the pub were 2 bathrooms available to campers which had a shower, toilet and sink in each. These looked fairly new and again were clean. The caravan field was on the other side of the pub.
Owners very welcoming, friendly and helpful…as well as all staff we met.
The pub has a pool room, a small bar and three different rooms to sit and eat/drink in, as well as what looked like a function room and a beer garden at the back with a couple of swings. The food was fantastic! We didn't mind paying that bit extra for it as there was plenty of it and it was well presented.
The site is in the middle of no where so be prepared to drive to the shop or to attractions. Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock Bath are all within reasonable driving distance for a day out.

This is an excellent site. It is locaed within 20 minutes walking distance of the lovely town of Buxton, with its many shops, theatre, cracking pavilion and impressive gardens. There is a wealth of places to eat and drink. It's also worth visiting Poole's Cavern and Solomon's Temple, both with in close walking distance of the site.
Facilities here are excellent: showers were spotlessly clean, pitches large and staff friendly and accommodating.
All in all, a site well worth a visit - would use again.

The landlord could not be more helpful both on the phone when booking and on arrival. He pre warned us of a large group of children and made sure we were far away from them.Good food, good beer, a warm welcome. Supplies for sale such as eggs, milk etc. Showers and toilets were clean. One and only down side is noise from main road but ear plugs soon sorted that.

A group of 21 of us camped here over bank holiday weekend, including 6 young children. We also booked a room for saturday night to celebrate 2 birthdays, so we ate there and then had the room to ourselves for the evening.
We received a warm welcome over our whole stay and were well catered for children and later evening activities - including being able to bring instruments and play music on the Saturday night.
The field we were in was great, lots of space and beautiful views. The ground was soft and easy to peg out the tents. We had our own space and did not feel crammed in at all. The toilets were always accessible in the morning from around 9am, and so this was never a problem. Queues did form for the two outside loos because of the showers, but as the pubs loos were accessible this didn't matter. Both these outdoor facilities were kept spotlessly clean.
We ate in the pub twice because the weather was so wet our bbq was rained off! The food came within half an hour both times (pretty impressive for a group of over 20) and all the food was great other than one persons steak that was very tough.
The prices are high, but this is the peak district in peak holiday time, this is how lovely old pubs survive the winter months and I think you would find the same prices across the peaks at this time of year.
The beer and cider are well kept and most enjoyable in the fantastic bar area.
I would highly recommend, but bear in mind it is a pub with camping, not a campsite with a bar in it!

Stayed here for a night and was happy with it. Very friendly host, who ensured that we were in a different field to a large group who were there. Quite close to the main road, so used earplugs.
With a limited number of showers, it could get busy, but for a night or two I would definitely recommend it. Good food too. No shops nearby, so travel prepared. Close to Tissington Trail, with a couple of other pubs within a mile radius.

We stayed 1 night, 2 adults and 2 children aged 4 and 5, and really enjoyed it, the guy just said put your tent anywhere which was good to pick any place. Wouldn't like to stay there too long though as there was no hot water, and I didn't see any showers, but I didn't ask where they were either as we were going home so I could wait. Really friendly place, near a road but noise didn't bother us.

Cannot recommend and will not be going back. We camped in a group which wasn't a problem and field although near road was good.
As others have mentioned camping is expensive here. The facilities are two bathrooms-unisex for whole site. So unless you want to trapse through pub if open, in your nightdress! you have to wait until people using shower are finished before you can use the toilet as they are in same room.
Washing up is with cold water in small sink next to waste disposal - didn't bother.
We ate down in Buxton as thought food expensive in pub. Found a great Italian restaurant in square doing meals before 7pm for £5 each with free side dish.
As for Peak District, it is amazing and would recommend it.

Appearance seems a little run down, and was one reason we had previously not booked it. Invited here for one night with a family member who was observing D of E. And my views changed for the better. So don't judge a book by its cover .
Hosts Graham and co are very friendly. I would say the food is good but not excellent. The day we went to the site the number of campers was low and therefore access to the amenities was easy. Shower room (inc toilet) was very clean and well presented . There were more than one play area however they are looking past their best. The surrounding area was in many areas under construction - and you can see the potential in this site. The adjoining pub was a lovely attraction = but don't pitch up to close as you will here the evening traffic till late (30 th birthday bash when we were there)
The A515 was a motorbike highway but this was not too early or too late into the night.
