The good lady & I have just returned from our first bank holiday stay at Tan Llan. We knew we were onto a winner the minute we pulled in. Not only were we squeezed in very late, but made instantly welcome by the owners. Who went out of their way to accommodate us away from the busier pitches. James will dig you a fresh fire pit & supply wood at a very reasonable fee. Great views out to sea & a very relaxed feel to the whole site. Nice & clean recently refitted toilets & showers. Children's play area & football field with goals to keep the kiddies occupied. The site has a fairly strict recycling policy & this was nice to see as the area is close to pristine. There is a well stocked village store & a cracking food pub (The Lion, complete with friendly locals & staff) within a short walk up the road. Nice clean beaches just a 10-15 minute walk & close to the Welsh coast road. This is a biker friendly site & it's a nice ride to get there & even better leaving through Snowdonia national park. This is a fairly basic site, but that is why we were so impressed. If you want to get away from the busier areas then Tan Llan is for you too. Thanks guys & keep up the good work. We'll see you again:)

Just stayed here for the first time and what can we say. Found it on this website read the reviews thought we would give it a try. WHAT A GEM WE FOUND. Got a warm welcome when we arrived (2 families) James and Delyth (the owners) are fantastic they will do anything for you nothing is any bother day or night don, t know when they sleep as they are always about The pitches are great plenty of room and the fire pits (which James digs out) are fantastic. The facilities are very clean and tidy and lovely hot water plenty of space for the kids to play lovely beaches and close to a very handy post office which sells everything the village pub is great to. The site is a great base to roam the surrounding area which is just fantastic lots to do and see. The weather was fantastic (so lucky) site a bit windy at times but this did not effect us. Cant wait to go back we recommend this site to all.

This was our third visit to Tan Y Llan and yet again 100% satisfaction. They have done a lot of work around the site and it really is hard to find fault with location and facilities. Even though we knew our way around, there's new signage everywhere. The toilet and shower blocks have been smartened up and are clean and tidy. The biggest draw has to be the warmest of welcomes from them and nothing is too much trouble for them. We simply cannot see the point of going anywhere else when you have so much of Abersoch area to see from this wonderful base. You can park the car and leave it alone if needs be and take a ten minute walk to the beach. The local Tudweilliog post office is five mins away and sells anything you may have forgotten and the Lion Pub down the road is fantastic for quality ales and food and very sensible prices. Another great few days and rest assured we will be back.

We visited Tan Llan after reading all the reviews and decided it was the site for us, as it catered for children of all ages.
We camped with friends, between us we had three children aged 9 - 13
Upon arrival Delyth was very friendly and took us to our pitch, both her and James were very chatty, advising us about where to have our fire pit that night.
The site was very busy at it was the bank holiday and a rather large party was opposite us apx 30 people. This large party overtook the football pitch playing from early morning till quite late at night preventing us from using our fire pit as it was unsafe.
James was very keen to referee the matches but did not organise these games.
On the Monday after the bank holiday when the majority of people left the atmosphere changed and there was no activities for any of the children left on the site, when their website clearly states that there are daily activities.
Also our recycling collection stopped at the same time and we were told to sorts it out ourselves, and not being left any recycle bags and despite paying the recycle charge.
The women's showers-3 and toilets -2 were in dire need of modernisation, and at times we struggled to find anybody to buy tokens from to use the showers.
The site advertises that it has WIFI but even after purchasing a day pass for £10 the signal was too weak, and we were unable to use the Internet. Part mobile signal as well.
No local information available so we were a bit stuck at times as we're to take the children even when we asked, we were given limited information. So at times resulted in children being bored and us feeling stranded. May have felt a bit different if again there were activities on the site.
If you might have an emergency, as one family did there are no details of where to find doctors/ hospitals etc
The electricity frequently tripped, even when we had been out for the day and nothing was on. We informed James and he told us not to keep resetting the electricity, but when you've paid for it you need it. ( we used nothing more than we have at any other 6amp site)
The surrounding area is beautiful but due to the site not living up to its previous reviews we will not be returning.

We recently stayed at this site for 2 nights but wouldn't return again. On a positive note it is very close to a fabulous beach (Towyn).
After reading reviews about the very welcoming and over-helpful owners we didn't find this at all.
The first thing was the unexpected extras on the price. After we pitched our tent we went to pay for the 1st night and was then charged £2 extra to have a fire pit dug. When the fire pit was dug, we were asked for £2 for it, but we explained we had already paid. 5 mins later the owner reappeared demanding another £2 saying that the first £2 was for waste and recycling. At no point had this been mentioned. This seemed ridiculous as we weren't going to create any amount of rubbish in 1 day (as we had only paid for one nights stay at this point) and would rather have disposed of it ourselves rather than pay extra for it (never done this before?!).
The next day we had to pay another £2 (theme emerging here?) to charge up our 3yr olds DVD player - but when we picked it up later it was still out of charge. I had to go back and get it charged for another hour as it was now near bedtime. I was made to feel like I was bothering them, and to be honest if it was me I would have refunded the £2.
The women's toilets are just 2 shower/toilets combined which caused a queue simply to use the toilet in the morning.
Rather than being crammed into the field called 'the football pitch', the other option was a large empty field - right next to the road.
This worked out fine for us (apart from the noise) but was happy to drive away.

We have just had a fantastic stay at this site. The difference on this site were the owners who couldn't do enough for us. It was my son's birthday while there and they arranged entertainment which was great! The location is near a gorgeous beach, Towyn beach and Abersoch is a drive away. There's an Asda at Pwhelli which is handy for camping. The fire pits are fantastic, they dig them out for you and really adds to your evenings, sitting round the camp fire. Toilets & showers are clean, there are more men's than women's but they is looking to expand these I believe.
We're definitely going back as soon as we can!

Site owners very friendly and will do their best to make your stay a happy one. General facilities are very clean and well maintained. Beach is a 20 minute walk with youngsters, pub and shop about 5 minutes away. Couple of minor points were that electrics kept tripping even on very low loading (cooker and lights), the children's play area is a swing and the showers don't need to be those push button things and a timer other than that it's a great site. Men's loos were filled with music ! Showers were 50p for 7 minutes. Good site.

Well, where to begin? We visited this campsite last weekend & I can honestly say we have never received such service from the owners. They were absolutely fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. We travelled as a group of 20 (5 families) and they helped us to pitch the tents as we had arrived on a very very windy day. They helped us out with extra bedding which was just so so helpful. James digs fire pits for you which were fab! The toilets & showers were clean with instant hot water (50p shower token). The campsite is perfect for young families to run around & play as its very spacious. They even helped us organise a birthday party for 2 of the children with a bouncy castle & allowing the children to ride quad bikes. The children will definitely remember their birthdays as they were fun filled. The local beach is just stunning! Approx 15 min walk. We loved this campsite and we are already planning another visit. Thanks again

Just back from a three night stop at Tan Llan, staying in our tent. Had a lovely time enjoying the relaxed atmosphere on site and the fantastic local beach. Shame about the Monday weather, but they couldn't manage that for us! I have to say that the owners could not have done any more in making us feel welcome and check that all our needs were met. The site itself was well kept, with the facilities cleaned and checked at very regular intervals across the day. We felt completely comfortable allowing our kids free reign to play football and on the swings and this was reflected by others on site who had permanently sited caravans and were very open in their praise of the site. The local village is only a couple of minutes walk and has a decent pub. All in all, would definitely recommend to all.

Originally found this site through this website, after looking at the pictures and the site facilities we were more than happy to give it a try.
We decided to stay for 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner who was extremely friendly and helped us find a suitable pitch for our tent.
One great point being we weren't hassled to pay as soon as we arrived, you were left to set up and settle in which was good after a 3 hour drive!
The facilities were clean, both male and female which is a nice bonus as its not always the case on campsites.
At night we opted for a 'fire pit' a great idea, with a big crate of logs costing only £5 it was an excellent touch.
On the second day we were looking for a place to eat and after some good advice from the owner we took a walk up to the pub, which served lovely food and a good atmosphere.
The whole experience was well enjoyed, although not having kids ourself there was plenty for them to do with children's activities being arranged by the site in the evening which was good to see!
After being to several sites its safe to say iv found one I really enjoy and would recommend to anyone, great personal service and everything I could have asked for.
Im sure I'll be back this summer!
