Just returned from 4 nights at Tan Y Llan site. This is a great site especially if you have kids. Plenty of space and James & Delyth are very welcoming hosts. Amenities are adequate and the new shower/toilet block is clean and pleasant. Combined with absolutely glorious weather, Tan Y Llan is an excellent base from which to explore Abersoch and surrounding areas. There is a general store/post office/pub within easy walking distance and if you enjoy a campfire, James delivers the wood. Will definitely be back again soon.

We booked in here for the first night of a 5-day tour round North Wales so we knew we definitely had somewhere to aim for on the first night. It's the closest campsite in Tudweiliog to the Lion Hotel, which is convenient!
The lady on the site was very helpful and friendly, chatting for a while on our arrival. Although there were other caravans on site I think we virtually had the place to ourselves - picked a nice, quiet week!
The views from the site were great. Snowdonia in one direction and the sea on the opposite direction. It's only a short walk to the sea and beach but, as mentioned, the pub was a priority after the long drive.
My only slight criticism is the road through the campsite. A little rough to drive on, but probably not an issue most of the time. The toilet facilities were nice and clean. It's an individual enclosed room with your own loo and wash basin etc.
The weather was great. A bit windy, but as we were in a van it wasn't a problem. The Lion Hotel does nice food and the staff are friendly, but as we had our dog we had to sit in the corridor area near the front, which was a bit chilly at times. Apart from that, it's a nice place for good ales and good food.
Overall I would recommend a visit to Tan Llan. Good price, good location, what more do you need?

We only stopped here one night just before Easter. This was only because of the weather!
The site has a small toilet \ shower block, which had just been repainted, all the amenities work well and were kept clean.
The pot washing sinks were in the open, so we kept this to a minimum, basically due to the weather. There is a beautiful beach about 15 minutes walk from the site. The area is good to get to Abersoch, Pwllheli etc.
When we arrived, we used the sat nav, which tells you to turn right to Twdweiiog when you are nearly there, you need to stay on the same road and turn left just around the corner and you are there.
When we arrived, James showed us to the main field, which was so windy, it would have blown the trailer and tent away, so, instead he sorted us out in a small corner at the side of their house, sheltered by walls on 2 sides and a caravan on the other. He hooked up an extra long lead, so that we had power. Unfortunately we were unable to put the front awning of our trailer tent up as the ground was boggy, so we got an awful draught through the door (Triango Ocean) and we forgot the heater.
Jame and Delyth said if we needed anything, just give them a shout, they offered us extra sleeping bags if we were cold. They were the best site owners I have ever met and so helpful.

Have just spent 4 nights over Easter, like the previous reviews we had to be towed on by a 4wd, we were 3 vans together and James was brilliant getting us onto our pitches. The views are lovely, mountains to one side and the sea the other. Toilets are fine always clean, showers are 50p but good. Some of the pitches are only 6amps which at this time of year is not good, but James sorted 10 amps out for us so the heater was well used. The local pub is very nice and child friendly, about 10 mins stroll. We went to the beach which is lovely and clean. Would go again.

Me and my other half visited this site the first week in August. We were booked up for 7 nights but stayed for 8 as the weather was great. And what a site!
We had been pitching our tent, which is huge, for almost 2 hours in the wind when James, the owner, ran over to tell us we couldn't pitch there as it was for EHU's! He helped us carry it over to a suitable pitch and then practically erected our tent by himself! He even re-arranged our guy ropes! We were pleasantly stunned to say the least! Also on arrival we were given a recycling box for glass, plastic and paper. We've been on lots of campsites and this was a first.
The site caters for tents, motorhomes and caravans. They also have a cottage and farmhouse you can rent out which looked lovely. The new shower block was up and running which my other half used regularly. I prefered the older block where I could plug in my hairdryer! Both kept immaculately clean. Showers have 50p meters.
Freezer packs are available at 20p each, and firewood costs £2 for a wheelbarrow full! Simply shout for Mark (James and Delyths oldest son) and he will sort it out for you. Fantastic! Just don't forget to tip him at the end of your stay haha! James will dig a firepit for you not too close to your tent and also provide you with a fire extinguisher.
The atmosphere around the campsite is friendly and relaxed. James and Delyth have 4 children of their own who seemed to have no problem making friends with other kids visiting the site. There is a play area, but the football pitch proved more popular! They were still playing after the sun had gone down some nights!
The views around the site are breathtaking. And the sunsets - well, go see for yourself! I can assure you, you won't be disappointed. There's a beautiful sandy beach 15 mins walk away. And the post office and pub are less than 5 min walk.
We walked the coastal path to Morfa Nefn and back, which was beautiful but tiring! We went for a well deserved pint on the beach just past the golf course, very pretty.

We arrived here for 3 nights over the B/H. The weather was changeable.Raining on /off Sunny spells gusty winds. When we drove up the driveway. A sign told us ' Not to park on site due to flooding'. This did not bode well !. After waiting some time for some body to tell us where to pitch. Along came the owner. He told us to back upto the wire mesh fence and unload and lift our camping gear over and pitch our tent on one of the dryist part of the corner of the field.
James ! even Improvised with some breeze blocks and made a steps to get over the fence. I have been a camper since the sixties and this was a novel funny start to our break. Although I was slightly perplexed. As I thought he was been pushy. !
We soon understood Why ? As they were towing vehicles In and out all weekend with the ground being boggy. So we put our tent up near to the corner of the house which sheltered us. And settled down. We started to take In the Campsite. The view's are spectacular and beautiful surrounds. We walked to the local beach.Towyn about 15mins walk which was lovely and sandy. The site Is In a rural area. And Is very family Orientated. Football pitch.( Which we were near.) and play area for children. The toilets. * Note at the time were Individual ones, kept very clean. The owner Is very keen about recycling. Enthusiastic and sometimes over Zealous. The Site has lots of potential. And the owners are always striving to achieve very good standards. And are very helpful.
The local village has a shop and the Red Lion pub do very nice meals at good price's.
There Is so much to do In this area. Walking cycling hiking relaxing on the beach or just touring. And the beach's are Fab. (Porth Oer = whistling sands) is gorgeous as well as Aberdaron. There are also little hidden coves to explore. This Campsite I can recommend.

Just returned from a long weekend at Tan Llan campsite with two other families, 6 adults and 8 children - we'd looked at this one but had gone for the one nearest to the beach which turned out to be waterlogged and we couldn't get on to the camping field.
Fortunately Tan Llan had spaces as we didn't need electric hookup. We had to leave the cars on the parking area and the owner towed our trailers onto the field with 4wd to stop any more churning up of the grass by the gates.
Charges are based on tent size and we paid £16 a night (friends with a smaller tent paid £12).We decided to have the EHU offered as we were near enough to the hookup field and this was £3 per night
We were actually pitched on the edge of the 'football pitch' which was great for the kids to play on and we were told that when there's lots of children on site they will organise games and competitions for them.
There are two toilets and two showers (50p but worth it) which were kept spotlessly clean while we were there - mop and bucket left in the corner as well. One of the toilets is in with the shower and a good size with a bench and hanging hooks so great if you've got little ones but might be a problem if there's lots of people in tents as that only leaves one toilet, but not a problem while we were there and I understand there are more toilets being made ready for next season.
Water taps had hoses on which made using them much easier. One sink for washing up - occasional wait at busy times and chemical/waste water disposal point very clean.
There is a washing machine available and we were offered use of the boiler room to dry wet towels etc. Gas bottles are available.
Great recycling scheme at the site - all rubbish was collected from your pitch each morning (except Sunday) and virtually everything was recycled.
Nice big field next to us for dogs to run but otherwise they are kept on leads.
Camp fires are allowed - the owner will dig a hole for you for safety reasons. Firewood is available. There are no objections to you staying up late as long as you don't disturb other campers but everything was pretty quiet after about 11ish - no wild parties here or car stereos blasting out all day.
Lovely views over Snowdonia and the sea - Towyn beach is about a 15-20 minute easy walk from the site, there is very limited parking here though, just where you can get on the grass verges and then you walk past the little shop that sells pasties, coffee, ice creams etc. Through the sheep field and down an easy slope to the beach. Morfa Nefyn is about a 10 min drive away - use the National Trust car park (£3 a day rather than the golf club one at £5) and walk along the beach past the pub and over the cliff path to some good fishing off Lifeboat beach at high tide. You can see the seals there too.
I would happily recommend this campsite - there was no rush to leave the site - we packed up the tents and they were towed up to the parking area for us while we went to the beach for the day. The owners James and Delyth were always on site and couldn't be more friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we are down this way.
