We used this site as a stopover on the way to and from Gers. It is convenient for the motorway, has an Intermarche close by and you can walk into the delightful town of Chartres along a riverside path.
Apart from this, the site has little to recommend it and is very busy, full by 7pm. The wardens are not particularly helpful and you are not given a site plan so it can be difficult to determine which pitches have hookups.
We found ourselves having to go out and come back in again and the warden was less than pleased at having to reach over, press a button and re-open the barrier for us. Not a good start!
On both visits, in terms of cleanliness, the toilets were just about ok, but we decided not to use the showers!
The only reason we used this site on the return leg was that it was convenient and by then we knew where the electric pitches were - we just chose one quickly, having no intention of staying long! Unfortunately, recent rain had made our pitch very muddy, too.
This is an 11 Euro ACSI site - you wouldn't want to pay more. The entrance area flatters to deceive - it is spacious and tidy with takeaway/small shop - but the rest of the site urgently needs a revamp. The internet was down, too.
Would suggest it only as a stopover to see Chartres, which is definitely worth a visit. Now that we have visited Chartres we would not return to this site until its condition has been improved.

I reviewed this campsite after our last visit, and have not really anything extra to add, except to say that there has been no change to the toilet block, and although it is cleaned every day, it gets a great deal of use and becomes unpleasant.
We cycled into town along the riverside, every time we go we discover a different part. I picked up a leaflet which shows local cycle paths
They are in the ACSI discount scheme, which makes the price very reasonable.

Used this site as a stopover en-route to the Pyrenees. Pleasant site with open and shady pitches. Although site was very busy when we arrived there was a nice ambience and toilet/shower facilities were clean. Staff friendly enough.
Lovely walk along the river takes you to the town. The old part of Chartres is lovely and the Cathedral very impressive. Had a lovely meal and a pleasant evening in the town - just the thing to recharge the batteries after a very, very long drive. Would definitely return if requiring a stopover in the future in that area. Not only stopovers using the site though, spoke to a couple of people who were holidaying there.

We arrived at the site for a one night stopover. The warden was very friendly and let us choose a pitch on a site that appeared to also be used as a playing field other times of the year. However it was flat and close to amenities.
The site did get busy later in the evening but we didn't find the sanitaries overly burdened. The site is near to a lovely path route along the river that will take you directly into Chartres town.
We cooked BBQ that night but did have some frites from the takeaway. The washing up facilities were plentiful and with hot water. Showers were clean and of good size and we didn't queue despite a lot of people on site.
High season I believe it was approx 13 euros which thought was very reasonable for both the time of year and location.

We used this site as a stop over between the Tarn Gorge and Calais. It is in a good location easy to find from the Chartres ring road. Nearby is a supermarket for food and fuel and in the same location an excellent artisan baker.
The price was very poor value at 28 euros for 2 adults and 3 children.
We found the 'customer service' at the reception uncomfortable as we were ignored and then dealt with in an offish manner. The manner slightly improved when we asked about the route to walk into the city.
No help is given in offering a pitch, just choose your own pitch by driving around until a suitable vacant plot is found - difficult as no map provided!
The toilet/shower facilities are old fashioned and out of date, made worse by piece meal 'improvements' over the years. The whole block needs demolishing and replacing with more modern facilities. It was grim - cracks in the sinks, the dirtiest squat toilets seen, only a couple of pan type toilets, take your own toilet paper, various tile patterns reflecting the era of 'improvements' made and barely warm showers.
The site has a good security fence and barrier, although as the reception was unmanned when we returned later in the evening anybody could have just walked into the site. We had to wait about ten minutes before we could attract attention to get the barrier lifted.
I would not recommend using this site and I will not return to this site until the shower/toilet block is replaced.

We had a most unpleasant stay at this site. Chartres is a lovely city, & the approach & entrance to the site are very pleasant.
With an ACSI card this an 11 Euro site, but the English speaking warden tried to charge us over 15 Euros. Only when I produced the ACSI book did he charge the correct price.
Only one toilet block, which became very unpleasant later in the evening as more & more vans were allowed in, including a number of large twin axle caravans towed by white vans, rolling in at nearly 10 pm.
Site had a neglected feel with uncut grass, & overhanging trees in need of trimming.

Reviewers - mature couple with car, tent and bikes.
We have stayed at this site several times, and as the previous reviews state, it is a pleasant site, well signposted, near an interesting old town. We cycled along the river into town as usual, followed the town trail, then continued along the riverside.
The site has 1 toilet block, with a shared sex shower room with enclosed basins, and a toilet room where the facilities are supposedly divided. Only 1 of the basin doors had a lock on it, and this was the one without hooks for clothes!
The toilets were inadequate when the site was busy, the ladies section had 4, 1 was a squat, and 1 didn't flush, and hadn't been closed off. I believe the gents only had 1 WC. The cleaners came in at 10.30am and spent a good hour cleaning, so ladies and gents had to share.
Despite this we will be back.
Price -moderate.

We stayed here for 4 nights as a short break en route back up to Boulogne. Its a nice relaxed site with good clean modern facilities. There is a takeaway and shop selling the essentials and a small playground. Like most sites though I find that kids seem to enjoy themselves when there are other kids around, which there were here.
Its a municipal and as such is well looked after. The pitches are a good size with a non electric camping field separate from the other service pitches. Most people seemed to be using the site as a stop off, but we enjoyed our four days and would recommend a longer stay if that's what you're into. So popular is the site as a stop off that each morning the place seemed to have half emptied! Chartres is a twenty minute walk or two minute drive away and has plenty of restaurants and a decent centre to have a mooch around. This sort of clean, no frills site is what the French do well.

Camping Les Bords De L’Eure is a 3-star campsite situated south of Chartres. We stayed here for the first time this year en route to and from the Dordogne, and it is a gem of a site. It is an ideal stopover site for the following reasons.
Firstly it is a good distance from Calais (approx 220miles or around 5 hours with a break for lunch). It is easy to find, as it is sign-posted from the Chartres ring road. Also it is not far from the ring road so you don’t have to go too far off your route. It has 96 pitches so there is a good chance of a pitch being available especially if you arrive before the evening. The pitches are a good size (some have electric) and are easy to access (so it doesn’t take too long to set up). The toilet block is central to all the pitches and is a reasonable size. It has a laundry, washing sinks, toilet disposal, excellent showers, and adequate toilets (although some of these are French style). When we were there it was kept very clean. There is a takeaway on-site so no need to cook if you don’t want to. Finally there is a large hypermarket with fuel station just up the road so it is convenient for refuelling for the journey ahead (to find the hypermarket turn right out of the site, drive to the traffic lights, turn left and the Intermarche is immediately on the left).
I think the site is actually good enough to be used for more than just a stopover if you fancy 2 or 3 days in Chartres. It has a playground, table tennis tables and a boules pitch to keep the family amused. It is situated in a much larger park and has a river flowing along the back of it (you do have to exit the site at the front and walk around the site to get to the river). It is only a mile or so away from Chartres itself so it is convenient if you wish to look around the city or visit the cathedral. There is actually a walk from the site that you can follow to get to Chartres if you fancy a break from driving.
Also, if you do decide to stay for a few days and you have young children, then there is another park close by that they will absolutely love. It has play equipment and a pets corner with small animals and birds (and its free!). To find it walk out the front of the site, turn left and follow the path around the campsite until you reach the river. Turn right, go to the river bridge and cross over. Turn right and walk along this side of the river. Walk under the road bridge and at the next river bridge cross back over and you are there.
This campsite really does have a lot going for it. I would definitely use it again.
