When we camp we prefer the sites that have more open space so we were a little disappointed with how cramped Parklands felt. The pitches were a reasonable size but seemed a bit crowded in from all sides.
The pitches are separated by small hedges, a good idea although it appears when anyone with children first arrives they are given a lecture about not letting the children damage the hedges!
I agree with some of the other comments about the traffic noise, which was quite bad. The electricity pylon in the middle of the site was a bit imposing but wasn't in the way and didn't spoil anything.
The swimming pool was good but small, it can easily be hogged by a family for most of the day - there isn't really room for anyone else. It would be a good idea to limit the time in the pool to an hour, otherwise the selfish campers get it to themselves.
The play area was ok, although it looked like a page from argos rather than a 'proper' playground. I doubt the 'flatpack' climbing frame/slide will last until next year. There is also a trampoline with one leg missing (which was a bit dangerous), a plastic wendy house, an old broken go-kart and an old toddler bike.
The badminton court consisted of 2 pole stuck into the grass and the putting was more like crazy golf (the grass was a bit long for putting!)
The staff seemed friendly an efficient and the toilet block was clean.
One annoying thing was the fact that my sister and her family had to pay £10 just to be let through the gate to visit us. They were told that the charge was in case they wanted to use the facilities (which they didn't - they only spent half an hour on the site before we all went off to Wisbech for lunch).
All in all the site was ok and the staff were friendly, there is nothing that should put people off going although we'll not be going again.

Well, we went last week, and I have to say I was impressed. We camped, and we were spoilt by the good weather. The pitch we were given was large, and well marked out by hedges. The ground was nice and soft with good drainage. The facilities were good, the playground was mixed, the climbing frame was obviously new whilst the rest was a bit tired, but the kids still loved it.
I did notice a net in the field next to the playground, as well as some pitch and putt holes, but didn't use these.
The pub was only open on demand, and we already had our own beer, but it looked good enough.
The pool was great for a small site - warm and deep. The showers and toilets were clean and well-equipped, although there looks like there is work being done. Also, the water is very very hot!
The other facilities were OK.
The only real problems we had were the rubbish bin by the washing up never being emptied, and the shop only being open a few hours each day. And even then, sometimes it was closed and you had to go to the manager's caravan. After a while you never even noticed the pylon, (it even helped us find the site on more than one occasion), and the birdscarers were a mere trifle.
Finally, the owners and staff were friendly, and it should be busier - I'd heartily recommend it. The kids loved it and we would go back in a jiffy.

Have just come back from this site after spending 4 nights there. To echo the previous review its a lovely site and the wardens and staff/owners are very welcoming and helpful. Since at the time we stayed the site was only occupied by ourselves and one other unit, the bar etc was closed so can't comment on those. And no doubt most of what I experienced will be somewhat irrelevant due to only us being there
The Toilets though a simple affair of a portokabin, was well kept and always clean, It would seem that the owners do read these reviews as there was always a fresh loo roll sitting, and a mop and bucket also present. The showers are VERY hot by the way, but my own concern is that the floor of the shower cubicle does get rather slippery, perhaps a mat or something may be a good idea, also there is no place to put anything, since I wear glasses a small type of self may also be an idea. There is also no place to hang your clean clothes other than the one hook at the back of the door. The gents at least had no small stool or seat in which to put clothes on, ( I do know the ladies did have these plastic bins as mentioned provided) other than one right at the main door. It was no problem when I was there as I had the whole toilet shower area to myself. I would also suggest that perhaps they may also consider frosting the top part of the main windows, did not worry myself, but it may be a prudent move before that is also mentioned
The pool was great and is plenty big enough for most, sun lounge's are also provided, just a pity the weather did not warrant the use of them. We did however try out the pool and it was rather cold, don't know if its heated and they never bothered since we would be the only ones to use it, and also the weather was not the best, but once your in and get used to it, was not that bad (even on a rather cloudy day) . It is 1 meter at the shallow end and 2 meter at the deep end, so not the place to allow children to be unattended and has a built in feature of a Jacuzzi at one side, so it well worth the effort to get in there. I would imagine on a busy site with nice weather this would be a very busy feature, but we had it all to ourselves
Children's play area was as mentioned mostly things for the very small, and TBH they could be doing with a damn good jet wash at the time we visited, BUT I do emphasis we were the only ones on site at this time, and the English school holiday had not yet started at this time, so it may well be something they did after we left and before the busy period, also the path to the play area and bins badly needed the foliage cut back , as did the access to the toilets. Not a problem on a dry day but when wet was always getting soaked ducking past them
One thing not mention is there is also a putting green provided, never used it myself but looked like it would be a good way to keep the slightly bigger children amused
Shop on site and also provided is carry out hot meals, again not something we used, but the menu and prices looked good
Road noise is rather obtrusive and seems to be constant, not a lot anyone can do about that, and it in no way made our stay less enjoyable, and as for the pylon, I did not see what the problem is with one being there
Pitches are more than adequate with plenty of room , and a nice touch is the small hedges. It was said that these get damaged quite often, and the finger of suspicion is pointed at the children who roam about without supervision .So take heed !
Washing machine is also provided and is operated by 20p coins, wife said an average wash costs about £2.40 for a full load , there is also a rotary drier available, but its not something we used
Town of Wisbech is easy enough to reach, and has an Asda as you come in from the site, Tesco is at other end of the town
One thing, if the site owners are reading PLEASE make the signs on the main road more visible, they are somewhat covered by the foliage and since the main road is rather busy you tend to miss the sign and over shoot the entrance (or at least I did ) could just have been me though
On the whole an excellent site and would be considering returning next year

We went for a drive out to the park on a Friday evening a few weeks ago, to have a look round,as become a habit before we book .Which I have to say we are goin to stay on this site on Thursday.
When we pulled up the owners came out as we were looking a little lost, we explained we had come to let our children have a look round before we booked, they were so friendly and gave us a guided tour around the site, there is a shop on site that they opened up to show us around ,the children headed for the play area and didn't want to leave :)
The toilet and shower facilities are the best I have ever seen ,the swimming pool area was immaculate and even though some people commented its a bit small, I have to say its a fairly small site compared to the sites that cater for 100s of pitches with a larger pool, so the size of pool is ample for this site. The sites so clean and tidy , pitches were separated and such a good size, they had undercover washing up area.
They also have a bar area with television, pool table etc.
One of the campers started chatting, speaking highly of the site and was 2nd time he had been, other campers seemed happy with site.
They also deliver pizza,s /take away to your pitch which iv never seen before :).
I could not fault anything on this site. The owners were not put out at all even though it was after 8pm,:),as the owners told us it used to be a garden centre so all the flowers etc had just started coming out ,such a lovely site.

We booked quite last minute for Parklands over the Whitsun bank holiday. We were pleasantly surprised by the price per night of the site, even with the added extras of a dog, awning etc, the price was still very reasonable for a bank holiday weekend. When we arrived on site one of the owners showed us to our pitch. The pitches are a good size and level, separated by low hedges. There are two fields, however only the one nearest the pool was in use when we visited. There is one water supply point, which luckily we were right next to. The kids loved the pool and went in it every day (even when it rained!). The owners were very relaxed about closing the pool and they were in there until late evenings most nights. The bar is set up in a marquee style tent, there is a pool table and a tv and the drinks are very reasonably priced. We took our dog with us, and were pleased to find that there is a small wooded walk around the edge of the campsite to let the dogs empty themselves, with bins provided for the pickups. All in all we loved this site and would return again. The only complaint we had was similar to other reviewers - that there needs to be a mop or a reminder to campers to put the shower curtain in the shower tray, sometimes the bathroom was flooded. Location wise, you are centrally placed for visits to Wisbech, Hunstanton and Skegness. There isnt really anywhere in walking distance of the site you can go as it is on a main road, but lots of days out within an hours drive. All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

This site is fantastic value, run by a very friendly family. We all loved our stay, and are planning to return in the summer. The site is used by people of all ages, some in couples, young and old, some with children, some with dogs, some with both! But all the people I spoke to seemed to be enjoying the site and finding it relaxing.
The owners obviously read these reviews and take very prompt action. For example all the showers now have a hook inside the door, also each has a plastic laundry basket that doubles as a seat to keep clothing or stuff that won't hang up dry. There is also a newly-built under-cover outside sink and laundry point - these site owners really do listen to feedback - and any concerns we heard voiced were acted on very promptly.
The pool isn't a bad size, and is of a reasonable depth too, so adults can (if the kids allow!) swim virtually the entire length. Although it is advertised as closing at 4pm during the week, in fact the owners have a very relaxed approach, and closed it considerably later.
The play equipment is geared towards children of about 4 - 8 age range, with one or two bits for toddlers. There is enough room near it for say skipping or quoits, but not ball games. Most of the time empty pitches were used for football or badminton when these were available. And during the day the area around the bar can be used as a picnic site.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay, we had visitors on Friday who were made to feel very welcome, and who left us relaxed (and tanned!) and the owners, while friendly, were happy to leave us to ourselves if that's what we wanted. The cleanliness of the site has been commented on by others, certainly one of the cleanest and best maintained I've stayed in, and what I don't think has been mentioned is the excellent - and sadly all too rare - opportunity to recycle rubbish on the site. I would thoroughly recommend this site, especially to anyone who is new to camping with children.
Downsides? Things that nothing can be done about - the pylon's been mentioned, but it is prettily disguised and made as unobtrusive as possible. We didn't expect quite so much traffic noise, but soon got used to this too.
There are one or two things that could be improved, minor and not-so-minor.
At the minor end of the scale, a dustbin near the outdoor sink area would be the icing on the cake. I hate cleaning out other people's food scraps from plugholes, but it had to be done because there was no bin facility nearby.
The ladies' toilet block had paper towels freely available - which is great if you're like me and always forget to carry a hand towel with you - but the central soap dispenser was always empty. We all used the one near the washing up sink, but I couldn't tell if that was hand soap or washing up liquid!
The floor of the ladies' block was often not just wet but awash from the showers. Can I add my voice to a plea for a mop to be available for campers to use. There was a squeegie, but where people forgot or didn't know to hang the shower curtains inside the shower tray, there was nowhere for the resulting wash to drain away. Result - a very slippery and muddy floor at times. Maybe some simple laminated instructions on how to use the shower efficiently might help avoid this.
Loo rolls! These were constantly running out. Although the toilets were inspected at least once daily, I got into the habit of taking my own loo roll with me because I couldn't guarantee there would be paper. Again not all campsites offer loo paper, so this in itself is a positive; however if loo roll is provided, then it should be in sufficient quantities, and with a spare loo roll available when needed.
My last moan, and to me the most important, was the disabled loo. This was permanently locked, as it is being used for storage - if you need to use it, you have to ask for it to be made available (and I'm in no doubt the owners would have done so happily). I was having a good week, so managed to get by using the ordinary loos; however it is rather embarrassing to have to ask for the use of a toilet, even - or especially - on a site advertised as disability-friendly. To be fair I didn't argue the point directly with the owners when we talked about it briefly; but it surely must be realised that not all disabled people use wheelchairs or even sticks, and not all adults like to ask permission to use a toilet. So please can the priorities be revisited.
This is the only seriously negative thing I can say about what is a practically perfect site for camping, whatever the family set up.

Ms Funky and I stayed here at the end May and the weather was beautiful. I can't but agree with the other reviewers, so I won't bore you going over it all again.
The Park and everything about it was really good especially the staff.
Being a couple of the 'Wrinkly' persuasion I think on our next visit we will opt for a pitch away from the hub of things. Bloomin' kids enjoying themselves can be a tad noisy and we can't have that eh!
All in all give it a go. You won't be disappointed

Had a brilliant time bank holiday weekend. Apart from great weather, we arrived and the service was A1, we were taken to our pitch by one of the owners. They have a friendly service. The pitches are separated by low hedges, the pitches are 10m x 10m very large and plenty of room. They facilities are good they have 3 toilets and 2 showers in the ladies, room for improvement could do with some more washing facilities. There is a bar which is very reasonably priced. A play area for the children, which is safe for them and they can not get out. Overall the kids could ride their bikes around and have a lot of freedom. The swimming was also a great hit with the kids, hours of fun. Very clean. Overall 10/10 clean and very friendly. Will recommend to other people and will return.

Stayed here May bank holiday in a touring caravan with friends in the next van, what an excellent site! Nice pitches, was made very welcome by the family of owners. Toilets & showers were warm & very clean (could do with some extra hooks in the shower rooms please!). Small site shop & bar which opens at the weekends (very reasonably priced & friendly) playground for children & heated outdoor pool which was kept very clean & tidy. Site is securely fenced from the road so child & dog friendly.
Would definitely return to this site in the future & excellent value for money.

A fantastic break! We booked very late for 2 nights over the May Day bank holiday weekend and I was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price - £12 per night for 2 of us - no rise for bank holidays! The site is very well kept and clean. Each pitch is divided by low hedges and the whole site is enclosed by a very high conifer hedge giving some protection from the wind. The pitches are of a good size - 10m x 10m and are very level. There are 2 fields and plenty of EHU points. There are 3 toilets and 2 showers plus washing up facilities in the ladies and these are kept very clean - cleaning took place twice a day and the area has been freshly decorated so was a pleasure to use unlike many facilities I have visited! The swimming pool was well maintained and again, very clean - my son loved this. There is a small shop selling basics which is open twice a day. Newspapers can be delivered to your pitch and you can order a take away for evening delivery to your pitch too - I recommend the fish & chips - delicious! The site owners were very friendly and helpful - showing us to our pitch on arrival and happy for a friend of mine to visit. There is a good sized children's play area and also a pitch & putt course which was popular with my son. The on site bar is open Friday & Saturday evenings and plays music - the drinks are very reasonably priced. All in all a great site well worth visiting and very good value for money - we liked it so much that we booked an extra night! We will definitely be returning before too long.
