WOW What can we say about this site that has not been said before.

Just spent Spring Bank Holiday weekend here and its a little GEM of a Adult only site

David & Marilyn are the best hosts ever so friendly and helpful

The site was immaculate no Grass trailing into you van as it was cut short and collected up If you want a small quiet site this is the one to go for, The Toilets where immaculately clean

We were recommended about a Pub in the village by David within walking distance and it was very good nice food and very reasonably priced

WE will be back again Definitely !

This site is a hidden gem, myself, my brother and my mate stayed at this site for 2 nights, with the main focus on fishing, we were not disappointed,

There are 2 lakes, we fished the largest one, and we all caught a good number of fish, including large carp and goldfish, the latter being around a pound and a half.

On to the owners, David and Marylyn, very helpful in every way possible nothing was too much trouble from the moment we arrived David directed us to our pitch, which incidentally is a small orchard with 5 pitches all with 16 amp hook-up,

David even said we could pick as much fruit as we wanted free of charge!. This site is very quiet and tranquil and the toilet and shower are spotless, with easy access to shops in walking distance,

We will definitely be returning. 10/10

Enjoyed a two week stay at Horseshoe Lake. Facilities were very clean & kept well stocked with all the necessaries! Received a warm welcome from owners Marilyn & Dave & given a choice of pitches, which are between fruit trees & nearly level!

There are some lovely walks, Rother Valley Country Park took about an hour on mainly off road paths. We got the bus(s) to Worksop & walked back by the Chesterfield Canal. Within walking distance are 2(!) Co-Op's & a good fish & chip shop. Most of the other caravaners were repeat visitors, which speaks for itself.

For fishermen the well stocked lake is a gem, & Dave does cooked breakfasts for both them & campers. Is on our 'return' list.

Great site, quiet, hook up points close and water near by, good security, brilliant fishing (I caught my personnel best carp of 12. 06 lb on pole)left there totally chilled out,

Will go back again, hopefully this year, toilet block and shower were very clean cannot fault the venue,

Owners are totally chilled out, what ever you need they will sort it out for you

Well, what else can I say that I and other reviews have already said. This is an amazing site with well looked after pitches in the orchard. The toilets and shower are spotlessly clean.

The area around the ponds are always tidy and the grass to the platforms is always cut short. It is such a nice peaceful quiet site with no loud music or rowdy people, I would feel very safe staying there by myself. There are big security gates that are locked at night.

The neighbors are pleasant and always acknowledge you when walking past. We are only 20 minutes from home but love this site so much we keep returning again and again. Dave and Marilyn are lovely people and nothing is too much trouble for them.

Dave does a great breakfast in the cafe that is at side of the pond. Once you have stayed here you will be back.

Having only had my campervan for a week I am so glad that I choose this site for my very first stay.

As a single newbie to owning a campervan, this site is everything you could wish for, peace, quiet and local amenities. I stopped for two nights and realised as soon as I parked that I'd forgotten to bring a cup, no worries the owners were only too happy to help, if I'd have gotten there earlier, I would have been given equipment to set me up on my adventures.

The site is only 20 minutes from Meadowhall and very easy to get to from the M1, its close proximity to Rothervalley is another plus.

Everyone on site were very helpful and to find people that only live 10 minutes away and those living in other countries, using the site regularly and for long periods of time just goes to show how welcoming the owners are.

As a single female I felt very secure at all times and I'm sure I forgot to lock my van and went about my business.

The facilities were very clean and well kept and a credit to the owners.

I can't wait to go again as I thoroughly enjoyed myself, you cannot go wrong staying here.

A really excellent site. Certainly lived up to all previous reviews. Lovely location in an orchard full of apple, pear and plum trees - free to pick! Spotless and well serviced toilet and shower facilities. Will certainly recommend this site. Only planned to stay for one week but stayed for two. Really interesting area - industrial heritage, stately homes, castles and country parks. Rother Valley Country Park just a short drive away.

Just had yet again a great few days at this sight, booked for 2 nights but ended up staying 3. We have stayed at this sight several times and always enjoy the peace and quiet. Dave the owner always keeps it immaculate and Marilyn always keeps the toilet and shower spotless. My partner caught the biggest fish of the year 21 lb. Crystal Peaks shopping centre is only a short drive away where there are a variety of shops and eating places. There are 2 Co-ops in walking distance from the sight. We will be returning here again later this year.

Here's the 18th 10/10 review. An absolutely delightful site with equally delightful owners. Just got back from our Easter weekend stay and. Will be back sooner rather than later. A very warm welcome greets you on arrival at this immaculate property/site. The pitches are on the owners' perfectly mowed/not-a-bald-patch-in-sight lawn which is gated off for security/privacy. Huge thanks to the lady who cancelled the morning we made our booking, thus freeing up a pitch for us :) Don't be fooled by the cul-de-sac/dead end sign on the road nameplate, Horseshoe Lake is then left at the T-junction a few yards into Forge Road.

Spotless loo and I imagine equally spotless shower, don't know didn't use it. The site is between a duck pond (I was lucky enough to see mum and her babies) and a lake, both for anglers, but the owners are happy for you to wander round when there are no anglers.

Pub and Co-op are within walking distance I think, with a chippy a little further, also Chinese and Indian takeaways, another Indian restaurant and a pizza/s. F. Chicken place that delivers.

We visited Rother Valley Country Park which was a short drive away, £3. 50 to park, other activities extra, depending what you're looking for - husband and 'son-in-law' were persuaded to operate a 4-person pedal boat (£9)for half an hour which was a great laugh; the Park appeared less than the 4 miles or so my phone's satnav indicated. Also went to Aston Springs Farm, £3 each adult, ideal for animal lovers like me!

Looking forward to going back soon, hope to see the butterfly house/falconry centre next time.

We paid £14/night, worth every penny, adults only and I'm fairly certain, no dogs, presumably because of the fishing lake/s. I'll probably regret singing the praises of this lovely place which is a credit to David and Marilyn, because I don't want anyone else to know about it!

We have yet again had another great few days at this site. The site is in the orchard where the apple, pear and plumb trees are in abundance. You are always made welcome from the owners and nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are always kept clean and tidy, even the area around the ponds are neat and tidy. There is a co-op and chip shop that is only 10 minutes walk away and a chemist and pub that is only 5 minutes walk away. If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you and you will certainly return.
